3-Unit Play. Take Under 9 runs - Colorado at Arizona (4:10 p.m., Sunday, April 28)
Patrick Corbin has been nasty for Arizona in his first four starts going 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA allowing just 5 runs and striking out 20 in 26 1/3 innings. Corbin gave up 1 run in a 5-3 win against the Rockies last year in Arizona and he may be catching Colorado at the right time. The Rockies were 1 for 9 last night with runners in scoring position and have lost five of their last seven games following and eight game winning streak. Jon Garland (2-1, 4.68 ERA) will be tossing for Colorado and was rocked in his last start against the Braves giving up 3 home runs and 6 runs, but that was in Colorado and I expect him to be better against the D'backs lineup. The under is 3-0-1 in Colorado's last 4 road games and 3-0-1 in Arizona's last 4 games overall. These teams haven't scored over 9 runs in 6 games so far this year and I don't think they will do it today either.

    2-Unit Play. Take #969 Texas (-135) over Minnesota (2:10 p.m., Sunday, April 28)
The Texas Rangers have not lost back to back games all season and I don't think they will let it happen today either. Minnesota beat Texas 7-2 last night but I like Alexi Ogando (2-1, 3.12 ERA) to lead Texas back home on winning note to end a 7 game road trip. Ogando has never made a start against the Twins but he has a 1.50 ERA in 6 innings of relief. Kevin Correia (2-1, 2.86 ERA) has been a pleasant surprise for Minnesota going at least 7 innings in all four starts and not giving up more than 3 runs in any of them, but is do for a bad start. Elvis Andrus is riding a 6 game hitting streak and Adrian Beltre who hit a home run Friday night is 4-10 off Correia in his career with a double and two bombs. Texas is 5-1 in their last 6 against Minnesota and the Rangers are 6-1 in Ogando's last 7 starts as a favorite.

          Today's Totals

4-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 7.5 Pittsburgh at St. Louis (1 p.m., Sunday, April 28)
Note: This is our Total of the Week.

I know - how do I dare bet against Shelby Miller and Jeff Locke?!?! That's probably your first question. Your second question is likely, ?Who the hell are Shelby Miller and Jeff Locke?? This duo and its 19 career starts will take the bump today. St. Louis is kind of screwed because things have gone almost TOO easily for Miller in his first four starts. He's been very good - including a six-inning, two-run outing against the Pirates on april 17 - but teams are going to make adjustments to the youngster. He also doesn't go deep into games, using a ton of pitches to make it through innings, and that is going to bring the Cardinals bullpen in the play. That's a problem because at 5.52 the Cards bullpen have the worst ERA in the league. For the Pirates, Locke has an ERA under 4.00. Looks good, right? Well, his WHIP is nearly 1.5 (which is terrible) and this is a guy with a 5.20 career ERA. He is coming off the best start of his life, against light-hitting Philly, and if you eliminate that one good outing Locke's ERA on the season is 5.16. We have two weak starters that use a lot of pitches, two gassed and ineffective bullpens, and two lineups that are ready to score some runs. This total is a full run too low.

1-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 8.0 Tampa Bay at Chicago White Sox (1 p.m., Sunday, April 28)

1-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 10.0 Houston at Boston (1 p.m., Sunday, April 28)

1-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 8.0 Baltimore at Oakland (4 p.m., Sunday, April 28)

          1-Unit Play. Take #974 Kansas City (-115) over Cleveland (2 p.m., Sunday, April 28)

          2-Unit Play. Take #982 Kansas City (-130) over Cleveland (8 p.m., Sunday, April 28)

Note: This is a Doubleheader Chase. Bet Game 1. If the Royals win Game 1 then we win our bet and the chase is over. You only bet the second game if we lose the first. We are essentially betting that the Royals do not get swept today.

            Sunday April 28th 2013

3 Unit Play Take #966 New York -102 over Toronto (1:05pm est):
The New York Yankees have dominated the Toronto Blue Jays so far this baseball season, winning five of the first six games these two teams have played against each other. The Blue Jays remain one of the most overrated teams in all of baseball here early on in the 2013 season and because of that we are getting solid value betting against them again here. They go with the struggling R.A. Dickey here in this one today. A lot was expected out of the veteran right-hander coming into this year but Dickey is realizing like most before him, that things are much more difficult facing American League offense's than what he had gone up against in the past. He is also dealing with some minor injury issues coming into this game today and isn't 100 percent right now.

The same can't be said for Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes as Hughes as seen a spike in his velocity in his last two starts and has thrown back to back quality outings also. Have heard some glowing reports on Hughes current form as they are saying he is throwing as well in his last few starts than maybe at any other time in his career. Keep in mind also the Yankees come in hitting a rock solid .286 versus right-handers so far this season which is 60 points higher than how the Blue Jays have hit against them.

A winning team like the Yankees at home here with their powerful offense and a pitcher whose in solid form and all of that at this price is a huge bargain. Take New York in this one.

3 Unit Play Take #978 Seattle -110 over LAA Angels (4:10pm est):
No pitcher may be more undervalued at this time than Seattle right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma. Things really fell into place for Iwakuma late last season and looks to have carried over into this year as well as he comes in with an ERA at 1.99 on the season and an even more impressive WHIP of just 0.73 on the year. The Mariners struggled out of the gates this season but have played very well in this series with two wins in the first three games.

It's obvious early on this Angels team isn't the team many thought they would be coming into the season. Outside of their emotional three game sweep of the Detroit Tigers at home last weekend, they haven't looked good as they have dropped 14 of their other 20 games so far on the year. The big problem with the Angles has been their pitching. One of those guys struggling here early on has been lefty Jason Vargas, a guy whose career has taken a turn for the worse now that he is out of pitcher friendly Seattle. Vargas was quoted before the season as saying he was not feeling quite ready for the year to begin and it's looked like that so far as he comes into this contest with an ERA approaching 6.00 and a WHIP at almost unheard of 2.03 on the year so far.

            Take Seattle here.

2 Unit Play. #954 Take Miami +100 over Chicago Cubs (1:10 p.m., Sunday April 28)
The Chicago Cubs have won 3-straight games against Miami but this afternoon I see Miami starter Ricky Nolasco holding the Cubs bats. The Cubs have struggled on Sunday games losing 4 out of 5 Sunday games and today this trend continues.

              2 Unit Play. #979 Take Over 7 ½ -120 Atlanta at Detroit (8:05 p.m., Sunday April 28)
Saturday the Tigers scored 7 runs and won and Friday they scored 10 runs and won so tonight why is this total only 7 ½. Yes both starters have been good this young season but the Tigers bats will put runs across home plate. Atlanta is 4-0 O/U in their last 4 road games and the Tigers are 12-3-1 O/U in their last 16 games as a home favorite.

4-unit Play Take #953 Chicago Cubs (-130) over Miami Marlins (1:10pm ET) We get one more opportunity to bet against the Marlins at a reasonable price as the Cubs look to complete the four-game sweep in Miami. The Marlins offense is epically bad. They are scoring only 2.6 runs per game and have produced four runs or less in 20 of their 24 contests this season. That's good news for Cubs' starter Carlos Villanueva, who is on a nice roll right now. The right-hander came over from the American League and has really settled in nicely in the Cubs rotation. He enters today's game with a 1.53 ERA and 0.75 WHIP in four starts and has cut his walks by roughly 40% from last season. The Marlins will go righty Ricky Nolasco today on the bump. Nolasco has had a frustrating career as his numbers don't ever equate with the type of stuff that he has. That is probably attributable to his mental makeup, causing him to meltdown in crucial situations. The Cubs don't have a great offense, but they have enough good bats to keep Nolasco on edge. I like Chicago once again today.

4-unit Play Take #976 Oakland A's (-130) over Baltimore Orioles (4:05pm ET) The Oakland A's and Baltimore Orioles were the two biggest surprises in baseball last year. This year they're not sneaking up on anyone, but they both have still managed to stay above .500. But the A's have another surprise up their sleeves for 2013 and it's been Bartolo Colon so far. The 39-year old right-hander is pitching like a Cy Young candidate at 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. He's also walked only one batter in 26 innings of work thus far! With control that good in pitcher's ballpark in Oakland, Colon can continue to have great success. His counterpart Miguel Gonzalez has put up good numbers this season and last season, but his peripherals haven't been as good as his ERA. He's due for some regression and I wouldn't be surprised if a strong hitting Oakland lineup jumps all over him. The A's lead the entire MLB in runs scored and that is really impressive considering where they play their home games. They've been struggling a bit lately, but that allows us to get a lower price here today. Take the A's.

4-unit Play Take #978 Seattle Mariners (-115) over Los Angeles Angels (4:10pm ET) The Seattle Mariners are a strong play today and it's almost entirely based on the pitching matchup. Hisashi Iwakuma has been one of the best kept secrets in the American League ever since he was called up last season. In 2013, he is 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in five starts and sports a terrific 29-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It won't be long before this guy starts getting more attention, but the fact that he plays for a bad ballclub in Seattle helps us take advantage of it for a bit longer. He'll face off against the Los Angeles Angels and ex-Mariner Jason Vargas this afternoon. Vargas has really struggled with the Angels in his first four starts. He has a 5.82 ERA and 2.03 WHIP while walking just as many batters as he's struck out. The Angels' offense and bullpen also haven't lived up to expectations so far in 2013, so Vargas is probably going to need to pitch a gem today versus Iwakuma to have any shot. We get a great low price on the Mariners here today at home.
