Billy Walters company makes big donation to super PAC
The man who has been called the world's largest professional sports bettor, Billy Walters, has made a sizable donation to a super PAC aimed at supporting Republicans in the House of Representatives, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity.
The CPI says Walters made a $100,000 donation through Nevada-based T STAR III LLC, managed William T. “Billy” Walters and Michael E. Luce. Walters also owns The Walters Group, a real estate company that specializes in golf course development.
According to the report, this was the second largest donation to this super PAC this year. The largest of $125,000 came from John W. Childs, the founder of a Boston-based private equity firm.
A 60 Minutes report from 2011 said Walters won $3.5 million on on the 2010 Super Bowl.
