        Washington vs. Minnesota - November 7, 2013 - 8:25 PM

Pick: Your pick will be graded at pinnacle @ Under 50.5 -106
        Expert: Ben Burns
        Evaluation: Nov 7 - 8:25 PM
        Reason For Pick:
I'm playing on Washington and Minnesota to finish UNDER the total. Both these teams have been profitable to "over" bettors this season. That's worked in our favor here, as we've got a very high O/U line to work with. I believe that it will prove to be too high.

Its true that the Redskins have seen their last three games all finish above the total. However, lets not forget that last week's 30-24 win was actually 24-24 after regulation time and that the Skins' previous game came against Denver. Also, don't forget that before the three "overs," the Skins had seen three straight games stay below the total.

A closer look at the Skins last game shows that they ran the ball a whopping 40 times, the second time in their last three games they've ran the ball 40 or more times.

The Vikings also got their running game going again last week. After having only 13, 14 and 19 rushing attempts, they finally ran the ball 29 times last week.

I expect to see a heavy dose of the run from both teams tonight. As you know, this tends to keep the clock moving.

Admittedly, neither defense has been good. That said, I believe this is a chance for both defenses to "get healthy" and improve their stats a little. While Washington averages just 20.2 points per game on the road, Minnesota averages only 22.7 points per game at home.

These teams met each of the past two seasons. Those O/U lines were both 44 or less. This number is considerably higher and I believe that its generous. 10*

Where the action is: Sharps, public split on Redskins-Vikings total

The Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings duke it out on Thursday Night Football in Week 10. We talk to Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker with CarbonSports.ag, about the action coming in on this primetime matchup and where the odds could end up come kickoff Thursday night.

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings – Open: +2.5, Move: +1

Some sportsbooks are dealing this spread as low as Minnesota +1, however, the majority of markets still have this line sitting just under a field goal as of Thursday afternoon. According to Stewart, the early money was on the road favorite but the books were hesitant to jump to Redskins -3, instead adjusting the juice from -110 to -120.

“That's where we've been most of the week,” Stewart tells Covers. “So far 75 percent of the action is on the Redskins. I believe sharps are waiting to see if this line gets to -3, but at this point I doubt we'll get there. “

The total has been the number to watch for this Thursday nighter. The over/under was posted as low as 48 points at some books and took a huge wave of early action on the Over, forcing a move as high as 51. The sharp money bought back the Under and dropped the total to 50.

“We’ve seen this a lot on these bigger primetime games, where the sharps are against the public, and that's what we have on this total. Sharps on the under, public betting it over,” says Stewart. “Our exposure on the Over is getting a bit heavy and I wouldn't be surprised if we get to 50.5, but I doubt we'll get back all the way to 51.”

Where the action is: Public loves Ducks, sharps betting big home dog

Thursday night is a huge night for college football fans. Bettors are treated to two key conference clashes featuring Top 25 teams. The Oregon Ducks come to Palo Alto for a showdown with the Stanford Cardinal in the later of these two games.

We talk with Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker for CarbonSports.ag, about the action coming in on this game and where the odds will end up come kickoff:

Oregon Ducks at Stanford Cardinal – Open: +10, Move: +11.5, Move: +11

Oregon can pave its road to the BCS title game with a win in Palo Alto Thursday. The Cardinal appear to be the Ducks' lone competition in the Pac-12, but are still double-digit dogs at home. Early action played the road favorite, spiking this line at Oregon -11.5 before wiseguys bought back Stanford and trimmed the spread half a point to +11.

“So far, 75 percent of the action is on the Ducks and I wouldn't be surprised if we go back to 11.5, but at this point we like our position,” says Stewart.

As for the total in this Pac-12 standoff, books opened this number as low as 60 points and have watched the over/under climb to as high as 62. Stewart says for a game of this size, action on the total has been relatively quiet.

“We expected to see way more Over action than we've seen. We opened this total 62 and we've booked really good two-way action and we haven't moved our number all week,” he says. “Sharps might be waiting to see this total rise a bit more, but at this point we like our number and there's no reason to move so the sharps might not get involved with this total.”

Where the action is: Are sharps inflating OU-Baylor line to buy back Sooners?

Thursday night is a huge night for college football fans. Bettors are treated to two key conference clashes featuring Top 25 teams. The Oklahoma Sooners visit the Baylor Bears in Waco for a Big 12 bash in the first of these two marquee matchups.

We talk with Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker for CarbonSports.ag, about the action coming in on this game and where the odds will end up come kickoff:

Oklahoma Sooners at Baylor Bears – Open: -13.5, Move: -15

Baylor has cruised through a soft schedule so far and meets its first true test in Oklahoma Thursday. Early action was on the home side, with sharps surprisingly grabbing Baylor and jacking up the spread as high as -15 at some markets.

CarbonSports.ag is currently sitting at BU -14.5, with good two-way action on this Big 12 battle. However, Stewart has a sneaking suspicion that the early action from wiseguys was meant to drive this line over the key number and that they will eventually buy back the Sooners before kickoff.

“I believe the early sharp action was made at -14 because they felt this line would close higher due to the public betting up Baylor like they have all week,” Stewart tells Covers. “So they lay the -14 and can either get off later in the week or keep their bet at a good number. At this point I have no clue, I just know we're booking this game dead even so far which is great for us.”

Stewart does say the book is a little scared when it comes to the total for Thursday’s game in Waco. The number opened as low as 72.5 at some markets and has climbed as high as 74.5 points, which is the current total CarbonSport.ag is dealing.

“Where we're seeing a ton of exposure is on the Over,” says Stewart. “So far 75 percent of the money is on the Over and we can't see much money being bet on this game Under as both teams love to spread the field and throw the ball.”

This is Baylor’s next-to-last home game at soon-to-be-demolished Floyd Casey
Stadium. In their five home games this year, the Bears haven’t scored fewer than 69
points. No surprise if this one turns into a rout, but Oklahoma was favored by
three TDs last year and has won 21 of the last 22 meetings.

UL-L figures to turn back the Trojans who have allowed 450 or more yards in

The conventional wisdom when these teams met last year was that Stanford couldn’t
cope with Oregon’s speed. The Cardinal proved otherwise, snapping Oregon’s
13-game winning streak. The Ducks are 9-0 in the interim and racked up 719

1-7 SU Vikings are 0-3 SU and ATS this season. The Vikings have revenge for a 38-
26 defeat in Washington last season. The Redskins led last season’s game 21-12
early in the fourth quarter when then-Washington safety Madieu (You Dumb Vikings
Shouldn’t Have Let Me Go!) Williams returned an intercepted Ponder pass 28 yards
for a TD. Three-score deficits are hard to make up in 12 minutes, and while the
Vikings chased and scored twice, it was against an eased-up Redskins defense.
Ponder is always a candidate to give points to the other team’s defense, and the
Redskins’ defense has scored 5 touchdowns already this season. So don’t be surprised
if a Washington guy is running happily into the end zone to make a homedome
silent. Minnesota’s defense wasn’t built to stop a good, varied run-game
                                supplemented with better-than-average play-fake passing. WASHINGTON, 31-27.
