Pacers at Timberwolves 10/24/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

                  by Adam

Latest Odds: MIN -11 Total 217

Indiana is getting accustomed to life with Paul George as it gets underway in the 2017-18 season. The Pacers won their opener against Brooklyn but followed that up with back-to-back losses against Portland and Miami. They've allowed at least 112 points in all three of their games.

Victor Oladipo, Indiana's big offseason acquisition and the scorer who's supposed to ease the departure of George, averages 22.3 points over three games. Oladipo was excellent in a loss against Miami on Saturday. He made 4 of 8 3-pointers on his way to 28 points. He also dished out five assists and had four assists and steals.

Rookie Domantas Sabonis out of Gonzaga posted his first double-double against the Heat, with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sabonis has a great shooting stroke for a big man and will likely average close to a double-double if he gets enough minutes for the Pacers.

Minnesota had a thrilling win against Oklahoma on a last-second 3-pointer by Andrew Wiggins. The game featured three go-ahead shots in the last 10 seconds. The Timberwolves are trying to change their reputation of being just young and talented to actually putting together wins on the court.

Wiggins averages 24.7 points per game through two wins and a loss. Last season, he put up a career-high 23.7 points per game. With a little improvement, he could become one of the truly elite scorers in the NBA. Wiggins has been good from beyond the arc so far, with 8 of 19 3-pointers made.

                  Recent Betting Trends:
Pacers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Timberwolves are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Over is 19-7 in Pacers last 26 vs. NBA Northwest.
Over is 5-2 in Timberwolves last 7 Tuesday games.

Free Betting Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves -11

Sunday's road win at Oklahoma City gives Minnesota ton of confidence heading into Tuesday's game and that is key in easy win tonight. The last second win by T-Wolves from the hand of superstar Wiggins will give them ton of momentum tonight. Final Score Prediction, Minnesota T-Wolves win and cover ATS 112-98.

Pelicans at Blazers 10/24/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

                    by Mike

Latest Odds: POR -3.5 Total 218

The New Orleans Pelicans (1 - 2, 1 - 1 Away) are on the road to take on the home town Portland Trail Blazers (2 - 1, 0 - 0 Home). Portland will be hosting this contest at the Moda Center. Portland is looking to take the next step this year while New Orleans has lofty expectations on their two-headed monster of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. New Orleans just defeated the Lakers while Portland is coming off of a loss to Milwaukee.

New Orleans takes the hardwood with an offense that should be much better than it is on paper. On the floor Anthony Davis (32 PPG, 17 RPG) is the center of all things, but he won't be enough to get wins. New Orleans operates like an Orlando Magic-era Dwight Howard and that just isn't doing the job. The Pelicans are also surrendering 114 PPG to opposing teams so far this season. New Orleans needs to get back to dominating the boards and playing strong defense.

Portland has enough firepower to take out just about any team in the NBA. CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard (24 PPG, 5 APG) are as good in the back-court as you are going to get. Portland is averaging 116 PPG on offense this year while shooting 47% from the floor. More impressively Portland is holding opposing teams to just 95 PPG on the defensive end of the court.

                    Recent Betting Trends:
Pelicans are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Trail Blazers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
Under is 5-0-1 in Pelicans last 6 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
Over is 3-0-1 in Trail Blazers last 4 home games.

Free Betting Pick: Portland Trail Blazers -3.5

Thus far this year Blazers have been money for bettors going 3-0 ATS so far - think that trend continues on Tuesday night. Portland can score with the best of them and think at home Blazers home opener is successful one. Final Score Prediction, Portland Trail Blazers win and cover ATS 116-108.

Jazz at Clippers 10/24/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

                      by Thomas

Latest Odds: LAC -4 Total 214

The LA Clippers are 2-0 and may get their first real test when they play the jazz in Utah this week. The Clippers won their first two games handily, one of them by 42, but those wins were against the Suns and Lakers. Utah is on a different level, and the Jazz are 2-1.

The Clippers will be missing point guard Milos Teodosix, who is out indefinitely with a foot injury. With the easy wins, the Clippers' stats are a bit gaudy. Blake Griffin is averaging 29 points and 10 rebounds in two games. DeAndre Jordan is averaging a whopping 18.5 rebounds, along with 10 points. Lou Williams has averaged 15 and six assists.

Through two games the Clippers lead the league rebounding at 55.5, are second in total defense, allowing 90 points, and third in scoring at 119.

The Jazz are also a good defensive team, holding opponents to 94.3 points, fourth in the league. Utah is 22nd in scoring at 99.7. Utah is averaging 38 rebounds, which is third from the bottom.

The Jazz have been getting an amazing balance in scoring. Ricky Rubio, Joe Ingles, Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors are all averaging 14 - plus points per game. Rodney Hood is averaging 13. Gobert is getting 12 rebounds per game, and Rubio is handing out 8.3 assists.

Utah is shooting 49.4 percent from the field, but 36 percent from 3-point land. The Clippers are shooting 46.2 percent overall, and 41 percent from the 3-point line.

                      Recent Betting Trends:
Jazz are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games.
Clippers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. NBA Northwest.
Under is 3-1-1 in Jazz last 5 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 34-16-2 in Clippers last 52 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.

Free Betting Pick: Utah Jazz +4

This Jazz team has been nice surprise so far and think Utah has shot at another upset tonight. The defense of Utah is once again the most consistent in the NBA and it's key again tonight. Clippers are not a great shooting team and it's reason LA loses tonight. Final Score Prediction, Utah Jazz win outright as underdog 96-94.

Stars at Avalanche 10/24/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                        by Jim

Latest Odds: DAL -125 Total 6

The Dallas Stars (5 - 3 - 0, 10pts) are on the road this week to square off against the home town Colorado Avalanche (4 - 4 - 0, 8pts). Colorado will be hosting this contest at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO where they have been historically a much better team. Colorado is coming off of a close loss to the St Louis Blues while Dallas just scored a nice win over Carolina.

The Dallas Stars are an exciting team to watch this year and there is hope from fans that they'll re-gain position as a top team in the Central Division. Dallas is led offensively by the stylish scoring of Tyler Seguin (6 goals) and he has been a big reason for the Stars' recent offensive surge. Dallas has been priding themselves as a defensive team this season and we'll see if the Stars can keep that going against Colorado.

The Colorado Avalanche are built in a similar fashion to the Dallas Stars. Colorado has been succeeding on offense by playing excellent defense. Dallas is 7th in the NHL in goals allowed while just huddling around the middle of the league in goals scored. Center Matt Duchene (3 goals, 4 assists) has been an early season playmaker but all respect needs to be pushed toward the goal-tending thus far in the year. Semyon Varlamov (2.21 GAA) is the early season MVP for Colorado.

                        Recent Betting Trends:
Stars are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Avalanche are 14-38 in their last 52 vs. Central.
Under is 5-1 in Stars last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
Over is 3-0-1 in Avalanche last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest.

Free Betting Pick: Dallas Stars -125

Dallas has a good offensive threat and are a balanced team. The Avalanche have had some struggles on the season when the opponent has a good star on the team like the Stars have with Seguin. We like Dallas to defeat Colorado in this game, 3 - 2.

Oilers at Penguins 10/24/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                          by Adam

Latest Odds: PIT -151 Total 6

Edmonton has to figure out what is going on with its offense. The Oilers were doing so well on winning the games they were playing last season that it was not foreseen to have an offensive collapse like the Oilers are facing this year. What is even worse is the Oilers increased the talent around McDavid, but still it is not at the same level it was last season.

The Oilers on the season are putting in 2 goals a game. The defense is steady at 3.1 goals allowed per game, which is what the Oilers were close to last season.

With the Penguins it looks like the team has finally taken the losses and started to build upon them. The problem is the Penguins have had quite a few struggles when it comes to picking up the wins that are against teams that are really good. The last outing is a great example as the Penguins ended up losing the game to the Lightning by a score of 7-1. So it is easy to see the Penguins offense is lacking as well.

The Penguins are scoring 3.3 goals a game. The downside is the defense is not keeping pace with the Penguins offense by giving up 4.3 goals a game.

Free Betting Pick: Edmonton Oilers +141

The Oilers are going to have an offensive resurgence in this game. The Penguins defense has had quite a few struggles against teams with any a glimmer of offensive production. Look for the Oilers and McDavid to finally click in this game as the Oilers win the game 3-2.

Lightning at Hurricanes 10/24/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                            by Adam

Latest Odds: TB -113 Total 5.5

The Lightning have been great on the season at scoring and it is easy to see why when they have a laser sighted sharpshooter on the lines. The Lightning have managed to go into a lot of the games against a lot stronger defenses with goalies who are all stars and brought home the win.

The player who has led the Lightning on the season so far is Nikita Kurcherov who has managed to score a total of 10 goals in 9 games. However, the real leader is Steven Stamkos who has 18 points total with 15 assist.

With the Hurricanes they have been all over the place on the season. However, the Hurricanes are sitting over the five hundred mark on the season and it is by a miracle the team is sitting so good. The Hurricanes would like to be able to play some strong hockey in this game, but facing a very potent offense that is scoring at will may make this type of winning a lot harder than what the Hurricanes were expecting it to be.

                            Recent Betting Trends:
Lightning are 7-1 in their last 8 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
Hurricanes are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
Over is 8-3 in Lightning last 11 overall.
Under is 13-6-1 in Hurricanes last 20 home games.

Free Betting Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning -113

The Lightning have an offense that seems to be able to score anytime Stamos and Kurcherov are on the ice together. With that being the case, coupled with struggles on the defense for the Hurricanes, this game should easily slide in favor of the Lightning. Lightning win the game 4-2.

                              Preview: Bulls at Cavaliers

                              Oct 24, 2017

Dwyane Wade's time in the starting lineup is over by his own request as the Cleveland Cavaliers prepare to host the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. Wade averaged 5.7 points while starting his first three games with the club before approaching coach Tyronn Lue about fitting in better if he were on the second unit.

Lue proposed the possibility of a backup role to Wade during the preseason but decided to try him as a starter and it quickly became clear a switch was needed. "I know he'd been a starter his whole career, so we wanted to try to start him and give him that nod," Lue told reporters on Monday. "He came to me and said, 'You know what, Coach? What you said was right. I'd be able to be featured more in the second unit and be able to handle the ball more, so let's make that move and make that adjustment.'" Wade was a member of the Bulls last season when Chicago swept four games from the Cavaliers but Chicago is in transition mode after dealing All-Star forward Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the offseason. The Bulls are shorthanded with shooting guard Zach LaVine (knee) still recovering from surgery from his time in Minnesota and forwards Nikola Mirotic (concussion, facial fractures) and Bobby Portis (suspension for punching Mirotic) sidelined.

                              TV:
7 p.m. ET, NBATV, NBCSN Chicago, FSN Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE BULLS (0-2): LaVine tore the ACL in his left knee in early February and was the prime piece acquired in the deal that Butler to the Timberwolves. The 22-year-old is a couple weeks away from taking part in contact drills and coach Fred Hoiberg is relishing the opportunity to add a leading scoring option for his team after LaVine averaged a career-best 18.9 points in 47 games last season. "Probably in the next two weeks I would say he'll start doing a little bit of contact," Hoiberg told reporters. "Probably three weeks he'll be back to full contact, if everything stays on schedule. But he's in a really good place. He's staying very engaged with everything."

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (2-1): J.R. Smith will be moved back into the starting shooting guard role due to the move involving Wade and that should make both players more comfortable. Smith was just 8-of-24 off the bench while Wade was only 7-of-25 before seeing the time to become a backup was now. "I came here for one reason," Wade told reporters. "I didn't come here to shoot 20 shots or average 20 points. I came here to be a part of winning and to bring what I can to this team, and I want to do that. I feel that my best opportunity to do that is in that unit, so it just came down to that."

                              BUZZER BEATERS

                              1. The Bulls have won the past five meetings and seven of the last eight.

                              2. Cleveland PG Derrick Rose (ankle) will miss his second straight game and veteran Jose Calderon will again start in his place.

                              3. Chicago rookie F Lauri Markkanen is averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds after his first two NBA games.

                              PREDICTION: Cavaliers 112, Bulls 98
