Time for a slam-dunk side winner here on Thursday in the MAC.

Despite the fact the Tar Heels own just 1 straight up win on the year, I think they are getting a few points too many here on Thursday night against the Panthers of Pitt.

Pittsburgh is feeling good about themselves right now, as they enter play tonight with a pair of wins in a row under their belt, and a win tonight will even their season mark at 5-5. The fact remains, the Panthers are playing with their back-up quarterback, and they are looking to end a 4 game series losing streak to the Tar Heels.

Oh sure, the North Carolina quarterback spot has been a real carousel this season, that's what happens when you are just 1-8 straight up, but the Heels do play off a bye-week, and the last time they were on the field they nearly upset still unbeaten Miami-Florida, losing just 24-19 in a game they did cover as the underdog.

A closer look at this series shows that each of the last 4 since Pitt joined the ACC have been decided by no more than a TD, and in fact the last 6 series meetings since 2000 have been decided by 7-points or less.

Grab the points as North Carolina and Pittsburgh play it close once again this season.

Thursday's free is the Under in the Seahawks-Cardinals game.

Going to side with the Under to open up Week 10 of the NFL campaign, as I don't see Drew Stanton being able to shred this Seattle defense through the air, and therefore, I do not see too many Cardinals scores this Thursday night at home.

The Seahawks just played an Under at home on Sunday versus the Redskins, and have held Under the total in 3 of their last 4, and 5 of 8 overall this season. The Cardinals were also Under the total at San Francisco on Sunday to make it 2 straight Under the posted price, and Under the total in 6 of their last 7 this season.

The last pair of series meetings between these NFC West rivals played at Arizona have held Under the total, including that infamous 6-6 overtime tie last season. With Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh now having some doubt creep into his mind after missing 3 in as many tries on Sunday, look for the points to be at a premium this Thursday night.

              Seattle-Arizona Under the total.

The Denver Nuggets host the Oklahoma City Thunder in Thursday night NBA action. There are two main factors in play here with this decision. First of all it is clearly obvious that while Oklahoma City may be an offensive force to be reckoned with in the future, at this moment they have not gelled, they have not displayed any cohesiveness, and they clearly will need more time in the oven to get their three superstars on the same page, and playing well on the same side of the floor.

Secondly, the Denver Nuggets will always get up to play Carmelo Anthony as they still haven't forgiven him for bailing out on them, even though he has proven since leaving that he cannot take a team deep into the playoffs let alone to a championship. He's a great player but he's just not that player.

A look inside the numbers tells a bleak story for the Thunder. They are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on 1 day’s rest, they are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 versus the Western Conference, and they are 1-4 AST in their last 5 versus teams with a winning overall record.

                Denver is the play.

With tonight's free winner, I'm taking a shot here with the Denver Nuggets on the moneyline against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There is a revenge factor to consider, and winless intangible to take in consideration.

The Nuggets are still stinging from Russell Westbrook's buzzer-beating 36-foot jumper last April that eliminated them from playoff contention. And then, just four weeks ago, Westbrook was called for a flagrant-1 foul on Denver center Nikola Jokic during a preseason game.

Denver hasn't forgotten any of this.

And the OKC intangible, well, it hasn't beaten a Western Conference team this year. The Thunder, projected to be one of the top teams in the West this year, is just 4-6, and a dismal 0-5 against intra-conference foes.

After seeing them lose in Sacramento on Tuesday, I have to wonder the mentality of this team, and if it can withstand an angry Nuggets team looking to exact revenge.

I'll take the home underdog to win outright.

                    Now about this complimentary winner

I was shocked when I saw the puck line on the St. Louis Blues, because this is the equivalent of say Clayton Kershaw pitching against the worst team in baseball on a Friday night at Chavez Ravine. The line should be huge.

St. Louis is one of the - if not the - best team in the Western Conference. And it is hosting the Arizona Coyotes tonight. It is going to be extremely ugly.

See, the Blues are off to their best start in history, having set a franchise record with 12 wins in their first 16 games.

The Blues, who have won 11 straight meetings with Arizona, boast one of the top lines in the league, with Vladimir Tarasenko, Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz, and the Coyotes have allowed the most goals to teams this season, having given up 68.

Arizona arrives with the league's worst record and also one of the NHL's least productive offenses, having scored just 41 goals.

Take the Blues tonight, as they will rout the Yotes.

When the money is flowing in one direction, sharps can often lay their cash in the other. Money is coming down on the 76ers after Philly moved to 6-4 with a win over the Jazz on Tuesday, but the Kings themselves may be showing signs that they might not be as bad as everyone thought. Sacramento earned its biggest victory in a long time when it outscored Oklahoma City 60-32 in the middle two periods and earned a comfortable decision in its latest action. Buddy Hield was particularly impressive. Take the home team and the points as Sixers’ young players could be caught looking ahead to a weekend test at Golden State.

As surprising as it might sound, I think there’s some value here with North Carolina as a decently priced road dog in this matchup. One thing you have to keep in mind with the Tar Heels 1-8 start is the brutal schedule they have had to play. Out of those 8 losses, 4 were against ranked teams and another was a road game against a very good Georgia Tech team. The other two were against Duke and Virginia, who I think are on par with Pittsburgh and they played both of those teams tough.
I also think this team gained some much-needed confidence with how well they played in their last game against Miami. At the same time, I don’t think the Tar Heels are simply going to just throw in the towel. I expect this team to come out and play their hearts out in this one to try and get that elusive first conference win.
The other big key here is I’m not sold on Pittsburgh being good enough to be laying this many points, especially with starting quarterback Max Browne sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Backup Ben Dinucci hasn’t exactly impressed in relief of Browne, as he’s completing just 54.9% of his attempts with as many touchdowns (4) as interceptions (4).
Pittsburgh’s offense has went from a pass-happy attack to one that almost exclusively relies on the running game since Browne went down. In their last two games they rushed it 57 times against Duke and had 40 rushing attempts against Virginia. While North Carolina’s defense isn’t anything to write home about, they did hold Miami to just 59 rushing yards on 32 attempts in their last game. If they have any kind of success slowing down this Pitt rushing attack, they not only can keep this within the number, but win the game outright.
It’s also worth pointing out that this is the part of the season where UNC head coach Larry Fedora has got his teams to play their best football, as the Tar Heels are 22-10 ATS under Fedora in weeks 10 through 13 of the regular season. North Carolina is also 30-15 ATS in their last 45 when coming in having failed to cover 4 or 5 of their last 6 and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games played on Thursday. Give me the Tar Heels +9.5!

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been the worst defensive team in the NBA by a wide margin this season. Now they're up against a Houston Rockets team that is rolling right now, winning three straight while scoring 119, 119 and 137 points. Look for James Harden and company to continue making life miserable on the Cavaliers, who are 5-6 SU & 2-8-1 ATS in their 11 games this season. The culprit for their struggles has been defensve as they have allowed at least 112 points in nine consecutive games. Give me the Rockets.

                              Play on: OVER 216 -115

To this point the Oklahoma City situation has not worked out with the Thunder at 4-6 on the season. Defensively, OKC just been solid, but on offense it has been hit and miss. With tonight's total in Denver at 216 on TNT, know this; when the total is 210 to 219.5, and a team like the Thunder has gone under the total by 48 or more points total in their last ten games, being a marginal losing team (40% to 49%), playing a winning team, the outcome is 30-8 OVER the last 21 seasons.

                                Play on: Lakers +10½ -105 at 5Dimes

The Lakers catch too many points here on Thursday night.
Situationally, this is a nice spot for the Lakers to cause some havoc. Washington has dropped 3 straight at home and really aren't playing all that well to start the season.
Allowing 109.6 points per game is not going to cut it against some of these teams as they are allowing easy looks at the rim and way too many open jump shots for the opposition.
Also here, expect PG Lonzo Ball to have a huge impact. After the Wizards called him out plenty of times earlier this season, the Lakers took them down in overtime in LA. Here is another case where you'll see inspired play all around from Ball and his teammates.
Some trends to note. Lakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points.Lakers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
This one should be a scrappy, close affair.
                                Back Los Angeles.
                                Good Luck, Razor Ray.
