      Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Oregon

      Preview: Oregon State at Oregon
      Gracenote
      Nov 22, 2017

Things are back on track at Oregon, which is now bowl-eligible a year after missing the postseason for the first time in 12 years. The same can’t be said for Oregon State – the lone Pac-12 team without a conference win – which visits Eugene on Saturday for the regular-season-capping Civil War game.

The Ducks entered last Saturday’s contest with Arizona having lost four of their previous five games to fall to 5-5 and put their bowl status in jeopardy. But behind quarterback Justin Herbert – who returned from a five-game absence resulting from a broken collarbone – and running back Royce Freeman’s four touchdowns, Oregon rolled the Wildcats 48-28 to become postseason-eligible in coach Willie Taggart’s first season. Up next on the Ducks’ to-do list is building some postseason momentum, avenging last season’s loss to the rival Beavers and sending the program’s seniors out with a victory in their home finale. “We’ve got the opportunity to finish this out the right way against our rival,” Taggart said Monday at his weekly news conference. “We haven’t played our best yet. I thought last week was close, but we have another opportunity to put it all together and play our best.”

      TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2. LINE: Oregon -25.5

ABOUT OREGON STATE (1-10, 0-8 Pac-12): The Beavers will miss the postseason for the fourth straight season and are looking to halt a nine-game losing streak and avoid their second winless conference season in the last three years. Junior Ryan Nall ran for 42 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 40-24 home loss to Arizona State and ranks seventh in the Pac-12 with 76.9 rushing yards per game. Senior quarterback Darell Garretson has thrown for more interceptions (6) than TDs (5), as the Beavers rank last in the Pac-12 in turnover differential (-11) and scoring offense (21.6 points per game) and defense (40.6 points allowed).

ABOUT OREGON (6-5, 3-5): Against Arizona, Herbert threw for 235 yards and a TD and added a 40-yard rushing score as he returned to action for the first time since his injury Sept. 30 against California. Freeman, meanwhile, notched his fifth-straight 100-yard rushing game with 135 on 19 carries and emphatically snapped a six-game TD-less streak with a quartet of rushing scores. Linebacker Troy Dye has notched a team-most tackles (95) and has 12.5 tackles for loss and four sacks for a defense which ranks in the middle of the conference pack in surrendering 29.9 points and 373.4 yards per outing.

      EXTRA POINTS

      1. Nall rushed for 155 yards and four TDs to spark Oregon State’s 34-24 home win over Oregon a season ago, snapping the Ducks’ eight-game series win streak.

      2. The Beavers have dropped 18 straight road games dating back to a 2014 win at Colorado.

      3. Penalties have been a problem for the Ducks, who were flagged 12 times for 117 yards vs. Arizona and lead the FBS with 99 penalties for 955 yards overall.

PREDICTION: Oregon 48, Oregon State 17

          Preview: Clemson at South Carolina
          Gracenote
          Nov 23, 2017

Third-ranked Clemson is in position to get back to the College Football Playoff, but before it can focus on the ACC Championship game, it has to take care of some business closer to home. The Tigers face another potential stumbling block when they visit rival South Carolina on Saturday.

The Gamecocks cracked the top 25 in the College Football Playoff rankings this week following a 31-10 victory over Wofford – their fifth win in six games. South Carolina has won five straight at home, and its fans will be fired up with a chance to end a three-game skid against the Tigers and knock its arch-rivals out of the playoff picture. “If you're going to have a good season, you've got to be able to go on the road and win. Our guys have done a heck of a job of that," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told reporters. "We all know the emotion that's tied to this game, and this is one of the best weeks of the year. It's fun to be a part of it." The Tigers have won four straight following a 27-24 loss at Syracuse, including a 61-3 rout of The Citadel last week.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN. LINE: Clemson -13.5

ABOUT CLEMSON (10-1): The Tigers’ defense has been outstanding, ranking third nationally in scoring defense (13.9 points) and seventh in total defense (290.2 yards). The offense rolled up 662 total yards last week against The Citadel, including a season-high 479 through the air. Kelly Bryant has passed for 2,154 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, and he is one of three Tigers who have rushed for at least 600 yards - joining Travis Etienne and Tavien Feaster to comprise a trio that has produced 26 rushing touchdowns.

ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA (8-3): The Gamecocks have taken on the hard-nosed defensive personality of coach Will Muschamp – they lead the SEC and are tied for 20th nationally with 21 takeaways, which they’ve turned into 76 points. The offense hasn’t been as consistent, but quarterback Jake Bentley has put together a solid campaign, passing for 2,429 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Fellow sophomore A.J. Turner has emerged as the team’s most reliable running back in recent weeks, rushing for 447 yards in his last five games after totaling 60 in the first six contests.

          EXTRA POINTS

          1. The Gamecocks are one of five FBS teams that have not allowed 30 or more points in a game this season (Alabama, Auburn, Troy and Wisconsin).

          2. Clemson's Deon Cain has caught a pass in 34 consecutive games, while fellow WR Hunter Renfrow has a reception in 25 straight.

          3. South Carolina has held 10 of its 11 opponents below their season scoring average, including five who scored at least 10 points below their mark.

No. 18 LSU has won five of its last six games and has a chance to conclude its regular season in strong fashion Saturday against visiting Texas A&M. The Aggies have won two in a row and gave the Tigers all they could handle in a wild 54-39 defeat a season ago.

"This is going to be a tremendous challenge for us," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said earlier this week. "And they played us pretty tight last year. Made some big plays on us last year in the second half. So there's a lot of things that we have to get done this week." The Tigers knocked off Tennessee 30-10 last week and have only lost to No. 1 Alabama in the last 1 1/2 months. Meanwhile, Texas A&M registered a seven-point win at Ole Miss last week, but it might not be enough to save Kevin Sumlin's job. "I came here to Texas A&M to win football games," the embattled coach said this week. "What we do and how we've done it has been the right way. It will continue to be the right way."

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network. LINE: LSU -10.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M (7-4, 4-3 SEC): The magic number for the Texas A&M defense is 27, as the team is 6-0 when allowing fewer than 27 points and 1-4 when giving up 24 or more. The defense blanked Ole Miss in the second half last week as the Rebels totaled 66 yards after intermission. Damion Ratley notched 111 receiving yards and a touchdown - his fifth score in the last three games - to help make up for another poor outing by running back Trayveon Williams.

ABOUT LSU (8-3, 5-2): LSU has allowed 10 points in each of its last two games and really did a strong job on John Kelly last week, holding the Tennessee running back to 47 yards on 25 carries. Derrius Guice, on the other hand, led the Tigers with 97 rushing yards and a score against the Volunteers and has five TDs in his last four outings. Guice likely will be playing his final home game, as will fellow junior Arden Key, a linebacker who is regarded as one of the best pass rushers in the SEC.

                  EXTRA POINTS

                  1. Williams, who ran for 1,057 yards on 6.8 yards per carry last season, is at 678 yards this year with an average of 4.6 yards per carry.

                  2. In its last six games, LSU has allowed a total of 11 fourth-quarter points.

                  3. The Tigers have won 72 straight games in which they have rushed for 100 yards and held their opponent under 100 yards.

                  PREDICTION: LSU 31, Texas A&M 21

                      Nov 22, 2017

Notre Dame needs a big win and a lot of help to jump back into the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings, and a road win against a ranked opponent would be a step in the right direction. The ninth-ranked Fighting Irish will try to pull off another signature win when they visit No. 20 Stanford on Saturday.

Notre Dame bounced back from a 41-8 loss at Miami that seemed to doom its playoff hopes by outlasting Navy 24-10 last week, and a spot in a New Year's Six bowl is a strong possibility with a win in the regular-season finale on Saturday. "They get a chance to do something that not a lot of teams can do, and that is win 10 games," Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly told reporters of his senior class. "So, they can be an elite class two out of the last three years in winning 10 games or more. Ten is the number, but they can win 11." The Cardinal gave themselves a chance at the Pac-12 North title and a spot in the conference championship game with a 17-14 win over California last week and are looking for their own spot in a New Year's Six bowl. "Being resilient is the most important characteristic for me because life is tough," Stanford coach David Shaw told reporters. "So being left for dead after the third game of the year and winning seven out of the next eight is outstanding."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ABC. LINE: Notre Dame -2.

ABOUT NOTRE DAME (9-2): Fighting Irish junior running back Josh Adams needs 101 yards on Saturday to break the school's single-season record set by Vagas Ferguson in 1979 (1,437). Adams, who moved into fifth place on the school's career list last week, is beginning to field questions about whether he will opt for the NFL Draft after this season. "I owe this team too much to bring the focus on myself," Adams told reporters. "We've worked too hard in the offseason and leading up to this point for anybody, anybody, on this team to get selfish. We still have a lot we want to accomplish and we're not going to let anybody take us away from the goal we have set for ourselves. ... I owe those guys too much to even think about something like that right now."

ABOUT STANFORD (8-3): The Cardinal have their own star running back in junior Bryce Love, who is second nationally with 1,723 yards. Love broke free for a 57-yard score and finished with 101 yards on 14 carries last weekend against California but was off the field at the end of the game due to ankle issues that have plagued him for the last month, and he is day-to-day. "I thought about taking him out of the game before that long run because he was in a lot of pain," Shaw told reporters. "And then watching him outrun the whole defense on 1 1/2 ankles was unbelievable. ... Injured or not, there's nobody catching Bryce once he gets up to full speed - 80 percent, 90 percent, whatever he was. So much pride, so much determination. That's why he's one of the best college football players you're going to see."

                      EXTRA POINTS

                      1. Notre Dame WR Equanimeous St. Brown is in the concussion protocol and is questionable for Saturday.

                      2. The Cardinals will win the Pac-12 North and clinch a spot in the conference championship game if Washington beats Washington State on Saturday.

                      3. Stanford won the last two in the annual series, and the last five meetings have each been decided by seven or fewer points.

PREDICTION: Stanford 20, Notre Dame 19

A berth in the Pac-12 Championship Game is on the line for No. 15 Washington State when it visits No. 14 Washington in the annual Apple Cup on Saturday. The Cougars will win the North Division with a victory over the Huskies, while a loss to Washington will result in Stanford claiming the spot in the conference title game.

The Huskies have won seven of the past eight meetings between the clubs but find themselves in the role of spoilers after making the College Football Playoff last season and coach Chris Petersen doesn't like the term "disappointing" placed on the campaign. "People don't know how difficult 9-2 is. They don't know. It is hard," Petersen said at a press conference. "I don't know if it's the College Football Playoffs, but it's just expectations. That's one of the hard things in this whole thing is just managing expectations." Washington State is averaging 33 points per game in coach Mike Leach's progressive system that has made a star of quarterback Luke Falk. The senior gunslinger holds school and Pac-12 records for career passing yardage (14,117) passing touchdowns (118).

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Washington -10.

ABOUT WASHINGTON STATE (9-2, 6-2 Pac-12): Falk has passed for 3,224 yards and 29 touchdowns against 10 interceptions this season and his career accomplishments include 29 300-yard passing performances -- including topping 400 on 11 occasions -- and 23 games of three or more touchdowns passes.
