Home ice is what teams play for all season long and in this particular case, I do think that it means something, even if the road teams have had a lot more success in this series. In fact, the home team has only won two of the first six games in this series. That leads many to believe that the value lies with the underdog Jets in this matchup, but I don't think that's the case.
I considered the Predators to be one of the two most complete teams at the start of the NHL Playoffs with the Lightning being the other. Tampa Bay has already punched its ticket to the Eastern Conference Final while the Preds will be looking to do the same in the West on Thursday.
It's going to be tough for the Jets to rebound from Monday's blown opportunity in front a rabid crowd on home ice. While the Jets players will all say the right things in the media, I do think they would have much preferred getting right back out there rather than the two-day layoff between games to think about what 'could have been'.
There's not a lot separating these two teams even though we've seen a number of lopsided results in this particular series. In a tight, hard-fought affair on Thursday night in Nashville, I look for Nashville's top line to prove to be the difference. Take Nashville (8*).

I'll take my chances here with Milwaukee at this price. These are two pretty evenly matched teams. In fact, both teams come into this game with an identical 21-16 record. I just don't see the kind of edge on the mound that would warrant Colorado being this big of a favorite. The Rockies are sending out German Marquez, who has a 10.64 ERA and 2.091 WHIP in 3 home starts. Milwaukee counters with Jhoulys Chacin. While Chacin's numbers aren't great, he is coming off his best start last time out and the Brewers are 6-2 this season when he starts, including a 4-1 record on the road. Give me Milwaukee +146!

We think that the Jays can build off yesterday’s 5-2 victory. One day after getting blanked by James Paxton, Toronto bounced back with a decent effort on Wednesday. All signs point to another victory here in our opinion as we think this line could/should easily be a lot larger considering the talent discrepancy on the mound. The M’s hand the ball to Mike Leake (3-3, 6.28 ERA) who gave up three runs off seven hits over 5.1 innings while also walking four in a loss to the Angels on Friday. Leake has put up a couple of decent efforts, but overall he’s been poor, as note that his 1.60 WHIP over 38.2 innings certainly leaves something to be desired. The home side counters with JA Happ (4-2, 3.67) who gave up three runs off four hits while striking out three over six innings in a loss to the Rays on Friday. Happ has the solid 3.67 ERA, but his 1.08 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB over 41.2 innings of work have to be considered “elite.” We’re basing this pick on the starting pitchers and as mentioned off the top, all signs point to a lop-sided blowout in that department. Consider the JAYS on Thursday night.

Leake has really struggled lately and allowed seven hits and three runs over 5 1/3 innings against the Angels his last time out. He's 1-3 with an 8.70 ERA in his last four starts.
Happ on the other hand has been solid all season, entering this game with a 53/11 K/BB ratio and a 1.08 WHIP. Happ is 4-1 with a 3.71 ERA in six career starts against the Mariners and the Blue Jays have won each of the last four.
Blue Jays are 18-6 in Happ's last 24 home starts vs. a team with a winning record and I think the price is right to back Toronto here in the rubber match of this three-game series.
