"we're hanging in there," tigers manager ron gardenhire told reporters. "we played a lot of close ballgames. one swing here and there could've changed it, and one good pitch here and there. so, 10-8, yes, but we could've been better, and i think that's what keeps driving these guys. we can do better." the twins are hoping they can do better as well after dropping four of their last six and scoring three runs or fewer in each of the four setbacks. minnesota will try to get the bats going against detroit left-hander blaine hardy while countering with veteran jake odorizzi on tuesday.
