The Steelers aren't prolific offensively even when healthy. They're severely banged up for this one. And we all know how limited the Bengals are with Ryan Finley. There is going to be heavy rain, and I expect both defenses to keep this a low-scoring game with the running games being featured. In that situation, the Cowboys may have the edge with a running game that averages 131.9 yards per game compared to the Patriots' 91.0. Dak Prescott can run and create his own plays. The Patriots offense has looked off the past few weeks, and rain won't help it. Under is the top play here.

The Packers have won five of their last six and have proven they are capable of beating any team, but my play on the 49ers is more about the number. I get to lay only 3 points with the 9-1 49ers at home. They’ve looked vulnerable the past three weeks, with Arizona’s offense doing what it wanted and the Seahawks beating them, but these teams are not as even as the spread suggests. I'm thinking more like San Francisco at -5 here. Plus, the 49ers get a boost with TE George Kittle practicing this week and likely to start Sunday. I’m on the cheap price with San Francisco.

The Buccaneers haven’t covered in their last six games, but a better trend says to blindly bet the over no matter who they play. They're on an eight-game over streak. The Tampa Bay defense can’t stop anyone, while opponents have trouble with the Bucs' air attack. Tampa Bay averages 27.7 points while opponents are scoring 31.3 this season. Five of the last six meetings between these teams have gone over.

The Ravens have won six in a row and covered in their last four, while the Rams have looked shaky but have won three of their last four. It’s the defense that has been saving the Rams while Jared Goff struggles, and that has helped them stay under the total in five straight games. The L.A. defense allows only 89 rushing yards per game.

The visiting team has averaged nearly 40 points in the past four outings. The home side has managed two offensive touchdowns in the last two games. The difference is so stark that Baltimore is a no-brainer. CB Marcus Peters, traded to the Ravens by L.A. last month, could return to haunt his former team. In four games with his new squad, Peters already has a pair of long TD interception returns.

This week’s caution against overreacting to one week: Carolina QB Kyle Allen lays an egg against Atlanta with four picks and a 47.5 passer rating in a 29-3 loss. Some recent slippage has occurred, but this was his first bust in eight starts, five of them ATS wins. He has done okay in relief of Cam Newton, and do-all RB Christian McCaffrey takes away some heat. The Panthers are on a ATS 14-5 roll in New Orleans. Carolina covers.

Pittsburgh running back James Conner (shoulder) is out. Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) is out. Center Maurkice Pouncey (suspended) is out. Quarterback Mason Rudolph, coming off his worst game, needs all the help he can get and will draw nothing from those three key sidekicks. Cincinnati's offense is languid, but not many points will be necessary for a cover to occur. The total stands at 38, so young Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley’s task is to beg, borrow and steal 17 points, which should be sufficient. Cincinnati covers.

The public has yet to pick up on the notion that New England’s offense, like the old gray mare, ain’t what she used to be. The Patriots’ yards-per-carry number is 30th lowest in the league, and Tom Brady’s receiving corps leaves much to be desired. The Under has prevailed in 16 of the Pats’ last 22 outings. Dallas’ offense is kicking tail, but key offensive linemen La’el Collins and Zach Martin are iffy with assorted injuries.

The bye week, along with reassigned coaching duties, has worked wonders for Atlanta. It returned from the break to two on the road by a combined score of 55-12. Now comes Tampa Bay, which has allowed at least 27 points in all but one game and has not covered since late September. The Falcons’ prospects would be enhanced if RB Devonta Freeman (foot) answers the bell, but Atlanta carved up Carolina last Sunday without him.
