Interesting stat as I delve deep into the SDQL database as we often do, and find only 1 single time in database history have 2 teams with a .250 or worse win percentage on the season faced each other in a conference tourney game! This is clearly for several reasons: only certain # of teams make tourney, seeding causing 1 better 1 worse, parity allows for teams to regularly win more than 1 of every 4 games, etc. Today we have just such an occasion...in the MEAC tourney first round matchup between Maryland-Eastern Shore and Delaware State. Additional fun fact, these 2 teams really up the ante for the SDQL as they are both SUB-.170 win percentage on the season...making that .250 benchmark almost like an ocean of wins!
Of the many reasons this is even our play tonight, actual record for a team means as close to NOTHING for me capping a game as it matters the mascots for these 2 teams are the Hawks & Hornets. Vegas does the best job it can evening out this very factor by using spreads and thus rendering the fact these teams are 5-26 and 5-25 respectively completely meaningless, the fact it is an "added" game with a 6 digit line number = meaningless, maybe you've never even effing heard of UMES= who gives a damn! We do this to make money, find advantages, and beat Vegas, and beating them where they absolutely DON'T CARE is the best scenario! Think Vegas is stressed about the UNC-VaTech game tonight? Yep, me too...think Vegas cares at all about this game and therefore isn't exactly certain WHAT should be the right number to hang? Absolutely!
Delaware State has an almost identical record to the opponent tonight, but down the stretch in league play, covered 6 of 7 games including the last 4 games, winning 2 of them outright...as dogs! This includes a win in Princess Anne, MD as a 5 point dog, leaving with a 21 point drubbing of the home Shore boys! There is an almost 30 point differential the past 3 weeks between these 2 teams with regard to offensive efficiency - with UMES registering an almost made up sounding 78 rating! DSU also has a 17%/15%/14% point edge in EFG/2P/3P shooting percentage during this timeframe...and Delaware State also likes to run and score quick...often allowing the opponent to go right back down and score...if they are able...but UMES happens to not have this ability! The Shore has also had an abysmal overall season as their record shows, but have gotten progressively worse and can gracefully bow out tonight after the MEAC tourney game...and end the misery!
This pickem price is dead "ON" when using the away HCA number they used in Maryland 2 weeks ago, but considering the nearly 30 point cover by the Hornets in that game and subsequent additional win as a dog, I find this math to be as lazy as it comes from Vegas....so let's hammer and exploit this far off line and make the books hurt while they ain't even looking!

Get this one quick...or maybe wait and don't buy the hook....not the desirable strategy, but yesterday was nothing short of GRUESOME, and I'm not effing around with stupid shit not trying to better ourselves...this is some pansy stuff and I apologize, but I am also posting this late and if you're interested in waiting I think there could possibly be a smidge of a buy back purely do to movement.
However, SFPA is winning this league and taking out Bobby Morris in the rubber match title game tonight...if you guys follow my Twitter you saw me post about my amazingly fond memories of the Big East (the real one not this non-football replacement) and the Kemba run from 9 years ago and how THAT is what I look forward to most...the stud player who throws the team on his back and says, let's get this! Isaiah Blackmon and the Red Flash are far far too good on offense, in fact, to lose to Bobby Mo again in a couple week period!
NEC chamions Rob Kimmel and the Red Flash!
