Take the Boston Celtics minus the point versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston (48-24) was a solid 6-2 in the bubble games to prepare for the postseason despite not having much at stake in those games. They had their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday in a 96-90 upset loss to the carcass that was left of the Washington roster but head coach Brad Stevens was able to rest his starters in that game. The Celtics are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games when playing with at least three days of rest. They also are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 games in the playoffs when favored. Philadelphia (43-30) entered the bubble with the grand plan of moving Ben Simmons to point forward which was going to transform their offense. Now with Simmons out the season with his brutal knee injury, the Sixers will transform again into being Joel Embiid’s team with Al Horford rejoining the starting lineup. But remember that the reason why the former Celtic was demoted to the second unit was that he did not mesh with Embiid when playing together since they play similar positions. The 76ers did snap a three-game losing streak on Friday with their 134-96 upset win over Houston’s backups — but they have failed to cover the point spread in 4 of their last 5 games after scoring at least 125 points in their last game. The 76ers have also failed to cover the point spread in 6 straight games after a double-digit victory. Lay the points with Boston. Best of luck — Frank.

The Sixers have been one of the worst betting teams when playing away from home this season. They have been mediocre in the bubble. But the playoffs are a whole new ballgame and we think there’s a good chance they step their game up tonight and we expect a real competitive effort from the Sixers tonight. We have Boston winning the series, but this is going to be a dogfight tonight in Game 1, and we just think this is too many points. Philly has covered in three of the last four meetings, and we see another close one here tonight.

Without Ben Simmons nobody wants any part of these Sixers as evidenced by the line moving up early this morning. But when the masses zig we look to zag. As the series goes on we can see Boston having a sizable coaching advantage. The adjustments the Celtics make should go a long way in deciding which team advances. But early on we feel Philadelphia is a bit underpriced. Embid is rested and at his best right now, not after having to carry this team on his back for a full series. So while Boston will likely advance, this game one line is simply too high.

The New York Yankees are thoroughly enjoying beating up on the Boston Red Sox. They have won five straight overall, including the first three of this series over the Red Sox while outscoring them 25-10 in the process.
Now the Yankees should complete the sweep here behind Jordan Montgomery, who is 2-0 with a 3.08 ERA and 0.943 WHIP in two home starts this season. Montgomery is also 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in four career starts against Boston.
Martin Perez has posted some decent numbers thus far for the Red Sox, but it is more of an aberration when you consider he has a 4.69 ERA and 1.480 WHIP in his nine seasons in the big leagues. Perez is 2-2 with a 9.97 ERA and 2.123 WHIP in five career starts against the Yankees.
New York is now 9-0 in its last nine meetings with Boston. The Yankees are 28-7 in their last 35 games as home favorites of -125 to -175. They should be more than -200 favorites today in my opinion. Bet the Yankees Monday.

This is a Free play on the Baltimore Orioles.
Baltimore comes into tonight's home game against the Blue Jays with a 12-9 overall record, significantly better than Toronto (7-11). Still nobody believes in the Orioles, who will be a significant underdog in Game 1 versus the Jays.
Alex Cobb will toe the slab for the O's, and he's been solid so far. He hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his four appearances, and Baltimore won three of those games.
The Jays hand the ball to their ace, and Hyun-Jin Ryu has been sharp in his last two starts. He had allowed eight runs on 13 hits and four walks in just nine innings in his first two starts.
Bo Bichette was on a tear for the Jays, leading the team in batting average hitting .361. He's been placed on the 10 day DL with a knee injury.

Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on Baltimore over Toronto at 7:05 pm et on Monday.
The Orioles have been one of the early surprises this MLB season and I look for them to bounce back from Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Nationals as they welcome the division rival Blue Jays to town.
The Jays will hand the ball to their ace Hyun-Jin Ryu. He's off to an inconsistent start with just one win and an ERA north of four through four starts. Note that while his strikeouts per nine innings are up, his walks are also way up. I'm just not willing to bet on him settling in against a good Orioles lineup on Monday.
Alex Cobb has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts so far, posting a sub-3.00 ERA and 1.07 WHIP through 19 2/3 innings of work. He'll be facing a Jays lineup that is missing one of its best bats in Bo Bichette, who has hit the I.L. with a knee injury. Give me the O's at a generous price here. Take Baltimore (8*).
