My free play is on the streaking Seattle Mariners against the struggling Texas Rangers.
I'm not sure what to make of the Rangers this season, but their offense is terrible, and their pitching isn't much better. Texas ranks 30th with 3.6 runs per game, is tied for 25th with 5.4 runs allowed and sits 29th with hits per game.
The Rangers have now lost five of six and 15 of 18, while they've been putrid on the road with just four wins away from Arlington.
Now they have to face a Mariners team that has won three in a row, including last night's 6-3 win, as Yusei Kikuchi struck out seven and J.P. Crawford hit a three-run home run. It was Seattle’s first game since Monday after the league postponed its three-game series with Oakland.
The Rangers send Kyle Gibson to the hill, and he's struggled all season, and been at his worst of late. The right-hander is 1-4 with a 6.16 ERA on the year, and is 0-2 and with 17 earned runs allowed in his last three starts.
Take the Mariners here, as they continue to roll while adding to Texas' doldrums.
