This rider and conditioner have a beneficial return on investment when they team up. Ran a lackluster race at Thistledown last time around the track. Racing on a fast track puts this gelding at the top of my list of contenders. Horse made up some ground in deep stretch last time around the track on August 26th at Thistledown. That affair is better than it looked.

RUSHIN TOTHE FRONT - You'll be generating money left and right by turning your gambling cash onto this jock/conditioner combination. A big drop in Equibase class figure points from his August 21st race at Prairie Meadows. Based on that element, I will give this horse the advantage. KING DEUCE - Taking a trip down in the class scale; has the ability to make his presence felt. A pony coming back this promptly after a sharp outing is a good sign. Multiple wins in this horse's life, all at Prairie Meadows. Could add another win in this event. FUTURE ABUNDANCE - Gelner drops him down to this class level. You don't need too much more from the pp lines to figure that this horse has a good chance at this level. Ranked numero uno in earnings per start (EPS). Another sign that this animal has class. RED WHITE AND LOUD - Ran last time out against much better horses at Prairie Meadows. The move down the class ladder should suit him well. This gelding is in good form, having run a strong race on August 22nd, finishing second.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 SHO POKE (ML=2/1), #4 BE STORMY (ML=6/1), #1 FOOLS RUSHIN (ML=8/1),

SHO POKE - I find it hard to bet on any horse in a short distance race at 2/1 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last two months. No value in making a bet on this pony. Probably won't improve off that Aug 26th affair. BE STORMY - The speed figure last time around the track doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's event. Mark this horse as a likely underpriced equine. FOOLS RUSHIN - Didn't finish in the money on July 17th at Prairie Meadows. Followed it up with another less than stellar performance. Not probable for this horse to make an impact with no recent good showings in a sprint race.

I've got to go with BARLEY JACK. With a competitive 63 speed figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this contest. With a nice Equibase class figure average of 89, has one of the most competitive class advantages in this field. She has earned competitive figures under today's conditions and will almost certainly fare well against this field. HEATHER HILLS - Might best this group of horses in this race here, showing solid numbers of late. This bunch is much softer than the last one she ran against. ITSAGIMME'S GIRL - Bennett has a sharp win percent with horses racing in dirt sprint races. Her 69 average has this mare with among the best Equibase Speed Figures in this race.

Jurickson Profar and the surging Padres open a three-game home series against the Dodgers on Monday night. San Diego is on a seven-game win streak and is 2.5 games behind Los Angeles.

MLB betting odds are on the board for a slimmed-down Monday schedule of 10 games, including three doubleheaders. The last of those 10 tilts is arguably the best, an NL West battle between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

Caesars sportsbooks provided insights on MLB opening lines and early line movement, sharp money and public betting for Monday’s games.

MLB line movement

Surging San Diego has closed the gap on Los Angeles, standing just 2.5 games back in the division entering Monday’s 9:10 p.m. ET meeting. The Padres swept a doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday and have won seven straight and 11 of 13. The line for Monday’s game wasn’t on the board as of late Sunday night.

The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox, both playing very well at the top of the AL Central, begin a four-game series at 8:10 p.m. ET in the Windy City. Caesars books opened at Twins -130/Indians +120, and there was no movement through Sunday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins finish off a highly unusual seven-game series in a 4:10 p.m. ET matchup. Miami has gotten the best of it, winning four of six so far to join Philadelphia in the thick of the NL playoff chase. The line for Monday’s game wasn’t on the board as of late Sunday night.
