This is a sprinkle pick for me on the spread and straight up, as I don't have high hopes for either of these teams entering the season, and yes, Joe Burrow is entering this game as a rookie making his first start without anything resembling a full preseason. Still, the Chargers are going to be terrible this year, and their defense is not good enough to make up for their inadequacies, though their defensive ends will make life difficult for Burrow in his first game. The Bengals offense is loaded with weapons, enough that it should be able to stay within this number if not win outright.

The Saints are one of the best teams in the NFL opening at home against a team in the Buccaneers that still has plenty of questions to answer. Namely: How will Tom Brady play in his first game not being coached by Bill Belichick? Quite well is my guess. But let's not forget Brady is three years on the other side of 40, Rob Gronkowski did not play last year and both are on a new team. Meanwhile, New Orleans rolls in with pieces that have been playing together under the same coach for years -- and not just pieces but one of the 3-4 most-talented tandems in the entire league. The Saints should be a 6-point favorite.

Though I normally shy away from spreads at a touchdown or more, it was not an issue Thursday night with the Chiefs, and it won't be Sunday with the Ravens, which I have as a 10-point favorite entering the game. Lamar Jackson will pick up right where he left off last season with the Ravens offense getting even stronger as J.K. Dobbins joins Jackson and Mark Ingram in the backfield. The Browns have improved offensive talent of their own and will score, but Baltimore will lock them down defensively late in the game. If this was in Cleveland, I might shy away from it. But asking this Browns team to go on the road and cover in Baltimore is a bit too much for Week 1, even given the unique circumstances.
