While picking the "Minutemen" may not be too exciting, I believe that this is too many points. Note that FAU is 0-2 ATS in recent seasons, when favored by 31 or more. This year's Owls have yet to beat any team by more than 21. They're off a win over "rival" FIU and may not be fully focused on today's opponent. Consider grabbing the points.

Play on: Air Force -9 -110 at BMaker

My free play is on Air Force at 9:30 ET.
New Mexico and Air Force play in the MWC, which was one of the four FBS conferences which initially decided to cancel/postpone fall football. However, the league reversed its field and decided on an eight-game, conference-only schedule starting Oct 24 with a league championship game on Dec 19. Danny Gonzales attended New Mexico, where he was a three-year letterman and was hired as the Lobo's new head coach, replacing Bob Davie. He took over a program that was 3-9, 3-9, and 210 of the previous three seasons and after having his coaching debut on Oct 24 at Colorado St canceled due to COVID issues, has seen his Lobos go 0-3. The coaching situation is MUCH different at Air Force, where Troy Calhoun entered his 14th season in 2020, after replacing DeBerry who retired after 23 years as the Falcons' head coach. He has led the Falcons to 10 bowl appearances in 13 years, including an 11-2 season in 2019, after back-to-back 5-7 seasons in 2017 and 2019. Air Force opened Oct 3 with a 40-7 win over Navy (before MWC changed its mind, Air Force expected to play only its two service academy rivals) but then lost 17-6 at San Jose St and 49-30 at home to Boise St. Its game with Army (Nov 7) was postponed and its game at Wyoming (Nov 14) was canceled.
New Mexico QB Tevaka Tuioti is completing 56.1 percent of his passes for 475 yards, four TDs and one INT. The Lobos ground game is averaging 189.7 YPG, led by Bobby Cole's 226 yards on 5.8 YPC with one TD. Defensively, New Mexico has struggled, allowing 34.7 PPG on 491.3 YPG. Air Force leads the nation with 330.0 YPG on 5.9 YPC and has thrown just 33 passes in three games. Its defense allowed just 24 points to Navy and San Jose St but was then ripped by 49 points at Boise.
Air Force Falcons hasn't played in three weeks but one doesn't worry about discipline with the service academies. New Mexico's Danny Gonzales will have to wait for his first-ever win as a head coach for at least ONE more game, as the Lobos last won on the road back on 10/6/18, 50-14 at UNLV. The Lobos have lost 11 straight away from home since that win in Las Vegas, as well as 20 of its last 22, overall. Lay the points!
                      Good luck...Larry

Play on: Air Force -7½ -104 at pinnacle

Friday CFB Free play. My selection is on Air Force minus the points over New Mexico at 9:30 pm et on Friday.
This is a tough second game in seven days for New Mexico coming off a closer than expected loss to Nevada at home last Saturday. The Lobos continue to deal with a number of key injuries, most notably to QB Tevaka Tuioti, who may be forced to miss a second straight game due to a concussion suffered two weeks ago. New Mexico will have two more likely opportunities to earn its first victory of the season on the road against winless Utah State next week and then back home against Wyoming. Air Force has been idle since Halloween due to Covid-related cancellations. You can be sure the Falcons will be fired up to get back on the field and erase the memory of consecutive losses to good San Jose State and Boise State teams suffered at the end of October. Air Force gets a manageable slate from here on out, following up this game with a home date against Colorado State and a trip to Utah State. Note that New Mexico enters this contest having allowed under 100 rushing yards in all three games this season. That has less to do with the Lobos defensive efficiency and more to do with the fact they've faced three pass-first offenses in San Jose State, Hawaii and Nevada. Look for the New Mexico run defense to get exposed against the Falcons option attack on Friday night. I'm simply not convinced the Lobos have the offense to stage a comeback should they fall behind by any substantial margin, nor do I believe they can control proceedings with an offense that looked average at best without Tuioti last week. Take Air Force (8*).

NCAA-F | New Mexico vs Air Force
Play on: Air Force -7½ -105 at pinnacle

The set-up: Both the 0-3 New Mexico Lobos and the 1-2 Air Force Falcons have struggled this year. That said, with some extra time off to prepare this week, I like the Falcons to do just enough to earn the ATS victory here. The Lobos most recently lost 27-20 against Nevada, while Air Force has been off since a 49-30 loss to BOise State on October 31st. If recent history is any precedence, then the Falcons have to be loving their chances here as well as they've won the last two in this series, including last year's contest by a decisive 44-22 margin. The Lobos come to town with their backup QB Trae Hall under center, and he'll be leaning heavily on his run game and Bobby Cole, who has posted 5.8 yards per carry in the early going. Overall New Mexico averages 24.7 PPG, but it concedes 34.7.
The picks: Air Force averages 330 yards on the ground, led by Timothy Jackson, who has 178 yards on 34 carries. The Falcons have been decent defensively as well, allowing only 24.3 points per game. Finally note that the Falcons are 4-1 ATS the last five in this series at home, while New Mexico is just 3-8 ATS in its last 11 road games. Consider Air Force on Friday.
This is a 1* FREE PLAY on Air Force.
