The Key: The price is right to back the Jayhawks in the underdog role in their Big 12 opener against Texas Tech. They have played the much tougher schedule thus far and will be the more battle tested team. They have gone 6-0 since their season opening loss to No. 1 Gonzaga. They have wins over Kentucky and Creighton during this stretch, teams ranked in the Top 10 at the time they played them. So they already have 3 games against Top 10 teams. Texas Tech is 5-1 but has only faced one good team in Houston, and they lost that game 53-64. The Red Raiders lost both matchups with the Jayhawks last year. Kansas is 29-6 SU in its last 35 matchups with Texas Tech. The wrong team is favored in this game. The Jayhawks are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning record. Take Kansas.

Kansas vs Texas Tech Free Pick December 17, 2020
The #5 Kansas Jayhawks have won six straight since dropping their season opener to top-ranked Gonzaga. I think they'll take an L here though against the #14 Texas Tech who is also 6-1 SU on the season. It's worth noting though, the Jayhawks have covered the spread in only two games. Sure, last time out they put a 95-50 beating on Nebraska-Omaha, but they're only 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight-up win of more than 20 points.
The Red Raiders own the fourth-best scoring defense in the nation, holding opponents to 51.6 ppg. Admittedly they have played a soft schedule, but make no mistake, this Texas Tech team is big, talented, and deep.
          Free pick on Texas Tech.

NCAA-B | NC State vs St. Louis
Play on: St. Louis -4½ -110 at Mirage

This will definitely be a public side but this St Louis team is no joke. They are a legit top 25 team while NC St is a border line top 10 team in the ACC. NC St hasn't been tested here at all so why can you back them. The A10 is a very underrated conference so don't sleep on this St Louis team. I think the Wolfpack are getting some respect because they are 3-0 ATS so far. Goodwin for the Billikens is the best player on the court and he will be the main reason they cover this short number.

NCAA-B | NC State vs St. Louis
Play on: St. Louis -4½ -110 at Mirage

Jack's Free Pick Thursday: Saint Louis -4.5
The Saint Louis Billikens have now won 10 straight games dating back to last season. They are loaded this year with five returning starters for head coach Travis Ford. They are one of the most underrated teams in the country.
The Billikens have opened 5-0 SU & 5-0 ATS this season with four wins by 19 points or more and a 4-point win over LSU. Javonte Perkins (19.4 PPG) and Jordan Goodwin (15.0 PPG, 10.2 RPG) are leading the way for Saint Louis. And now they have the advantage of taking on a rusty NC State team that has not played in two weeks for COVID reasons.
"We'll be rusty." NC State coach Kevin Keatts said. "For me to think that we're going to just go back and be clicking the same way we were, I don't think that's going to happen. We're a team that relies on our conditioning. That will come into question because we haven't had a chance to get up and down as much. We're a team that likes to press the entire game. We may have to scale some of that back until we get our conditioning better."
The Billikens are 8-0 ATS in their last eight games overall. Saint Louis is 7-0 ATS in its last seven games as a favorite. The Billikens are 21-5 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning record. I'll take the sharper, more experienced Billikens here over the rusty Wolfpack. Bet Saint Louis Thursday.

NCAA-B | San Francisco vs Oregon
Play on: Oregon -7 -112 at Draft Kings

My free play is on Oregon at 8:00 ET.
The San Francisco Dons (5-3) were scheduled to visit USC on Wednesday but the Trojans paused their program this week after a player tested positive for COVID-19. The game wasn't officially canceled until Tuesday but San Francisco still had time to set up a matchup with the 4-1 Oregon Ducks Thursday in Eugene. The Ducks were happy to accommodate, as they were looking to break up an 11-day gap in their schedule. Oregon last played Saturday in a 74-71 win at Washington and wasn't scheduled to play until Dec 23 against visiting UCLA.
San Francisco went 22-12 last season in head coach Todd Golden's first season and the Dons own one of the biggest upsets in the early going of the current season, a 61-60 win over then-No. 4 Virginia as a 15-point underdog back on Nov 27 in Uncasville, Ct. The Dons lost two key players from last season in leading scorer Mineland (14.4 & 4.7) and huge center Lull (11.9 & 7.6). This year's team revolves around senior PG Bouyea (18.0 & 4.1 APG), junior SG Shabazz (15.6) and 6-9 junior Ryuny (11.0 & 6.5).
Dana Altman spent 16 seasons at Creighton and took the school to seven NCAA tourneys in his last 12 years at the school. He came to Oregon for the 2010-11 season and won the CBI championship in his first season. He's now in his 11th season in Eugene having won 20-plus games in each of his first 10, averaging 25.9 wins per year. Oregon has played in SIX of the last eight NCAA tourneys and it would have been seven if last season's year was not cut short (Ducks were 24-7). PG Payton Pritchard (20.5-4.3-5.5) was a HUGE loss plus Altman also lost SG Mathis (8.5) and 6-7 SF Juiston (7.9 & 6.3). However, to the rescue come three transfers. The 6-6 Eugene Omoruyi, who sat out last year as a transfer from Rutgers, the 6-6 Eric Williams who transferred from Duquesne and 6-6 guard Figueroa from St John's. Omoruyi leads the team with 19.5 PPG (adds 5.0 RPG), Williams has added 13.8 & 7.6 and Figueroa 7.3 & 7.0 (he averaged 14.4 and 14.5 the last two seasons for the Red Storm). Returning 6-6 senior Duarte (15.2-5.0-3.2) is also off to a strong start. Throw in the 6-11 Dante (9.0 & 6.2) and Altman has another 20-win team, schedule permitting.
Oregon was ranked No. 20 in the AP's preseason poll, but dropped out after losing their season opener to Missouri. That loss hardly looks bad now, as the Tigers are currently 5-0 and ranked 16th. The Ducks have yet to return to the top-25, despite FOUR straight. However, it's only a matter of time and a solid win here will help that cause. Lay the points!
                  Good luck...Larry

                    NFL | Chargers vs Raiders
                    Play on: UNDER 54 -117

The set-up: These two teams combine to average less than 50 points per game this season. Los Angeles only averages 22.8 PPG this year and over it's last three it's scored 20, 0 and 17 points. LA also has plenty of injury issues on the offensive side of the ball.
The pick: The last ten games between these teams have produced an average score of just 42.6 points and I expect a similar final combined number here as well. Consider the "under" on Thursday night.

                      NFL | Chargers vs Raiders
                      Play on: UNDER 53 -110

Thursday NFL Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Los Angeles and Las Vegas at 8:20 pm et on Thursday.
While I'm not expecting a defensive slugfest in this one I do think we'll see a lower-scoring affair than most are anticipating on Thursday night. Neither offense enters this game in peak form. The Chargers eked out a 20-17 win over the Falcons last Sunday and now look to post consecutive wins for the first time this season. They've scored a grand total of 37 points over their last three games. Meanwhile, the Raiders will certainly put an emphasis on cleaning things up defensively after firing defensive coordinator Paul Guenther following last Sunday's blowout loss to the Colts. I'm equally concerned about their offense which simply hasn't looked as efficient since RB Josh Jacobs got hurt (he's back playing but not 100% healthy and suddenly in a running back by committee). Las Vegas will be without rookie burner WR Henry Ruggs on Thursday night after he was placed on the Covid list. While he hasn't put up big numbers this season, he does have the ability to stretch out opposing defenses and his absence will certainly be felt as the Raiders aren't exactly loaded with depth at the wide receiver position. The first meeting between these two teams this season reached 57 points. I don't see this one approaching that number on Thursday night. Take the under (8*).

The spot favors Seton Hall here Thursday night. They have had the last five days off and are playing some great basketball coming in. They pulled the upset at Penn State and beat St. John's by 9 during a three-game winning streak. Now they're rested and will be the fresher team in this matchup. Marquette will be playing its 3rd game in 7 days and has just two days to get ready for the Pirates. The Golden Eagles are coming off an 89-84 win at Creighton and will be in a letdown spot after pulling that upset. That followed a 60-69 loss at UCLA on Friday. The Pirates are a perfect 9-0 ATS in their last nine games as a road underdog of 3.5 to 6 points. Seton Hall is 9-1 ATS in its last 10 games after playing two straight home games. Give me Seton Hall.
