Delta Downs - Race #1

#5 Hallajoori	She's got enough pace to be right up on the engine with this group, and she has some upside in this second start off the layoff. Interesting.
#7 Into Victory	She's capable of something better than she showed last time out when no threat as the 6/5 chalk, but I wouldn't want too short a price to find out if she's bringing her best stuff tonight.
#1 Best Intentions	She has done her best work at Remington, but she had been in with some tough Keeneland and Oaklawn groups in those other tries. Thinking she'll stack up favorably enough with these.
Race Summary	Hallajoori is a forward player in a race without a ton of early pace, and she's got some room to improve after just going flat around two turns late in her comeback.

Delta Downs - Race #2

#2 Infinite Purgatory	Pressed early before rolling late in the slop against maidens, and while it's at least a little tough to take that effort in the off going at face value, she should get another great trip as she tries to back it up with winners.
#1 Wink Texas	The rail draw may prove tricky for this one, as she's a forward player who has done her best work right up top, and she'll probably have some pressure to deal with here.
#8 Reason Why	Steps up off the useful maiden win at the $20,000 level, but there's no way this filly is 3/1 if she's racing out of a lesser barn. Can do, but not with my money tonight.
Race Summary	Infinite Purgatory steps up after an easy press and pounce win, and I'm willing to give her a chance to back it up as she tries winners off that effort.

Delta Downs - Race #8

#3 Hail State	Took a nice step forward in that second lifetime start when cutting back locally and scoring nicely from just off the pace. Willing to give him a look right back, as he's probably capable of another step forward here that might leave him in the mix at a price.
#5 Yes Bab	Was no match for an easy winner last out, but he was able to hang tough late for second behind that runaway victor. He can probably sit just a touch closer this time around with winners.
#8 Alterana	Cutback player should get a good go of things from just off the pace at this shorter trip, but he has been favorite in each of his last three starts and has failed to make a serious threat late in any of them. You can have him at 2/1.
Race Summary	Hail State is worth a little swing on the rise to face winners after taking a big step forward in that second career start. He proved that he got over the local footing nicely enough, and he should get another great trip.

Race Summary	Stirling Drive has been in the hunt lately and continued improvement gets him to the winner's circle.

Gulfstream Park - Race #6

#1 State Crown	Comes off a maiden win at Woodbine and makes his first dirt start; has plenty of good works for this and can be a factor in his first local start.
#2 Dem a Wonder	Was an easy maiden winner at GPW and is a threat to steal it on the front end.
#4 Corey	Finished fifth in a tougher race at Churchill and Cox barn should always be considered.
Race Summary	State Crown was impressive in his second start and lands in a spot in which he should be a big player throughout.

Gulfstream Park - Race #9

#2 Don Bourbon	Tired on the front end going 1 3-16th in his last two and should benefit from turning back to a mile; probably won't be a close early but could be rolling on the tail end of this one.
#1 Lookin At Roses	Won two straight at Parx and was a closing third in his first one here; Johnny V. picks up the mount, which should help his chances.
#4 Ashaar	Came up short, finishing fourth in his first one in 11 months; should be much tougher in his second one back.
Race Summary	Don Bourbon has been trying route distances and weakened in each; capable of a big effort at this much shorter distance.

Wednesday NBA Free play. My selection is on Phoenix (moneyline) over Toronto at 9:05 pm et on Wednesday. We'll continue to fade the Raptors as they desperately try to break out of their early season funk. The simple fact is, Toronto is not playing a cohesive brand of basketball right now and the results show it. Here, the Raptors draw a tough matchup against a Suns squad that should be in a foul mood after a heated home loss to the Clippers on Sunday night (we won with the Clips in that game). Phoenix is of course off to a fine start, having won five of seven games to date. While Devin Booker has been terrific, it's also worth noting that former number one overall draft pick Deandre Ayton has also been rounding into form, knocking down 19-of-25 shots for 46 points while hauling in 19 rebounds over the last two games. Look for the Raptors struggles to continue for at least one more game. Rather than lay the points, we'll back the Suns at a reasonable price on the moneyline in this spot. Take Phoenix moneyline (8*).

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. In my look ahead to Matchweek 18 in the English Premier League, I have a strong lean to Under the Total in the match between Newcastle United and Sheffield United. Newcastle (W5-D4-L7) is winless in their last five matches across all competitions after their 2-1 loss to Leicester City last Sunday. The Magpies have scored just one time in their last four competitions. They have scored eight goals in their seven EPL matches on the road with expected goals (xG) dropping to 5.96. But they have only surrendered 11 goals in those seven games. Sheffield (W0-D2-L15) has lost three straight games and they have failed to score in all three matches. The Blades had only allowed two combined goals over a three-game stretch before allowing Crystal Palace to score twice in a 2-0 blanking in their last match last Sunday. Sheffield United has scored only four goals at home. Even with the total at 2, take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

Inter is coming in off a 6-2 drubbing of Crotone this past weekend which obviously will give them some confidence coming into this this match, while Sampdoria lost 0-1 at Roma, which remarkably was only their 3rd Under of the year through 15 games so far. Holding Roma to one goal was more luck than anything as they allowed 2.41 xG and on the season have the 5th highest xGA number in the league at 1.72.
Not a good omen facing Inter Milan who are averaging 2.14 xG scored this season and have scored the most goals in the league, now 40 through 15 games.
On the year, Sampdoria has a 12-3 O-U record while Inter Milan has an 11-4 O-U mark. Seems fishy to have the total set this low at 2.75 as I think this should be set at 3.0 or 3.25, but I’ll stick to my numbers and take the bait here.
