Miami pulled away late yesterday over Pittsburgh in an opening round 79-73 outright win over the Panthers.

No outright win this afternoon - at least I don't believe there will be - but getting this many points with the Hurricanes is something I am definitely interested in.

Jim Larranaga's team has won their last pair straight up, but better still is Miami's nice 3-0-1 spread run and 5-3-1 overall spread run for their last 9 games played.

Included is a 58-66 loss at Clemson on February 27th in a game they were getting +13 points.

The Tigers increased their series winning streak that day to 3 straight, but it is the Hurricanes that happen to be on a 4-1 against the spread series run that includes covers in the last pair of meetings.

This is a big number for the Tigers who were idle yesterday to try and cover against a Miami team that is heated up and familiar with the hardwood from yesterday's win.

Things get back underway in the NBA this Wednesday night with a pair of games and I see this Washington-Memphis game ending up holding Under the total as both teams resume from a solid 5 day hiatus.

I definitely expect BOTH sides to come out a little slow as they try to topple this big total placed down by the oddsmakers.

These teams played just prior to the All-Star break in a 125-111 final in favor of Memphis in a game played in D.C. That game landed Under the total to make it a 6-2 series Under run the last 8 times these teams have faced one another and the Under is 7-3 overall for the last 10 series meetings.

Washington will head to Bluff City having landed Under the total in 2 of their last 3 before the break and on the road the Wizards sport Unders played in 10 of their last 13 overall!

Memphis went to the break with Unders played in 6 straight and in 7 of their last 8 overall.

The Under numbers were already enough to make me lean towards the Low at the Grindhouse on Wednesday night, but the fact that both teams have been idle for close to a week makes me really like a lower-scoring game to open the second half of the campaign.

Wednesday night comp play is the Spurs and Mavericks to hold Under the total as these teams work their way back into live game action for the home stretch of the regular season.

San Antonio went the the break with Unders in 3 of their last 5 and in 7 of their last 11 overall, while Dallas went to their break on a 5-1 Under run for their last 6 played in the first half of the season.

These teams did land Over in their first series meeting back in January when they met in San Antonio, but they had played their previous 3 games Under the total and the Under is still 7-3 for the last 10 overall series meetings between these Texas rivals.

You have to believe that being off for a good 5 days will leave both teams a little slow coming out of the gate.

Barcelona find themselves in a 4-1 hole after leg 1 and it's going to be a real conundrum for Ronald Koeman ahead of this tie as to how his team approach this game.
Facing such a huge deficit from leg 1, there's little point in playing conservatively here, but pushing the envelope in terms of attack leads to its own problems.
If Barcelona go offensive here, that plays right into PSG's hands as they'll be able to pick off this Barcelona backline with their counter-attacking football, but it's something the Catalans will nevertheless have to risk if they're to have any chance of progressing in this tie.
Take PSG off scratch here on Wednesday (+0) to see off Barcelona in a good spot for the home side.

There has been a lot of talk that the Cyclones are the best 2-21 team in the country. While it is correct, keep in mind their two wins were against Arkansas Pine Bluff and Jackson State. As much as the Iowa State coaching staff will stress that this is a new season, these players know what's up.
Oklahoma beat Iowa State by 7 and 10 points in the two meetings. We are catching a very good Sooners team off four straight losses. Games in which the advanced metrics thought they should have had much better results. Look for a very angry Oklahoma team to lay some wood to the Cyclones.

The only question at Iowa State is whether the university will eat the buy out clause in head coach Steve Prohm's contract. My guess is they're set on paying the tax and moving on as the current edition of the Cyclones is a complete disaster. I make Prohm a lame duck as buyout or not, he's not getting another run after going 2-21 including 0-18 in conference play. The good news for Iowa State is that Rasir Bolton is likely to return for this game, so maybe the Cyclones can compete. But Oklahoma won't be looking past ISU as they're on their own four-game losing streak. One stat comparison worth mentioning here. Iowa State is a very poor rebounding team. They're dead last on both boards in the conference breakdown. When Oklahoma win he glass, they win the game. I can see the dog hanging in for awhile here but if they get down, they're probably down and out at that point. I'll lay it with Oklahoma.
