They will now be looking to avenge one of their losses during this stretch, which was a 111-125 home loss to these Memphis Grizzlies. They bounced back with an upset win over the Clippers as 6.5-point dogs in their final game before the All-Star Break. And now they should come out of the break and likely upset these Memphis Grizzlies. The Wizards are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games as underdogs. The Grizzlies are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games when playing with at least three days of rest in between games. Give me the Wizards.

I gave out a free pick winner on the Ottawa Senators as a puckline dog (+1.5) against the Edmonton Oilers a couple of days ago. I'm going back to the well expecting the Sens to keep this a close game too. Note that of the Oilers' last seven wins, only two were by two goals or more. We can also note that the Senators are 11-3 SU in the last 14 meetings in Edmonton.

Dallas has value laying the small number. San Antonio limped into the break as this team just doesn't have the weapons to keep up here. Look for Dallas to win the battle at both ends of the floor as they should be able to get what they want at the rim.

The San Antonio Spurs finished just 32-39, ending their run of 22 consecutive playoff appearances. However, the Spurs have been one of the surprise teams in the NBA this season, despite enduring injuries and personal issues that forced LaMarcus Aldridge, Derrick White and DeMar DeRozan to miss multiple games. There also was a stretch without five key players because of COVID issues that forced the Spurs to play short-handed in the final two weeks before the All-Star break. San Antonio opens the second half 18-14, a record which currently places them No. 7 in the Western Conference.
The Dallas Mavericks went 43-32 last season, ending a three-year playoff drought and led by the inside/outside duo of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, were expected to be serious playoff contenders this season. However, Mavs got off to an uneven start, caused in part by injuries. Dallas would lose SIX in a row both SU & ATS from Jan 23-Feb 1 but ended the first half on a 10-3 run to reach 18-16 (current No. 8 seed in the West).
The Spurs and Mavs open the second half of the NBA season when they renew their Lone Star State rivalry Wednesday night in Dallas. San Antonio features SEVEN players averaging in double digits, led by guard DeRozan (20.0-4.9-7.2). PG Murray (15.8-7.0-5.4) has developed into an excellent player, while Sf Johnson is developing into quite a player in just his second season, averaging 14.1 & 6.7. Forwards Aldridge (13.7 & 4.5) and Gay (11.2 & 5..2) plus guards Mills (13.3) and Walker (11.3) round out the Spurs' other double digit scorers.
Dallas' recent surge (although the Mavs are just 6-7 ATS in their current 10-3 run) has come as the Mavs now have their preferred starting lineup intact. Doncic (28.6-8.4-9.0) rested his sore back right before the break but played in the All Star game and will be back in the lineup tonight. He's joined by SG Richmond (12.8) in the backcourt, while Porzingis (20.2 & 8.4) is surrounded by SF Finney-Smith (8.2 & 5.1) and PF Kleber (7.0 & 5.3) in the frontcourt. Swingman Hardaway adds 16.4 PPG off the bench, while guards Brunson (12.7-3.5-3.4) and Burke (7.6) add to the team's backcourt depth.
San Antonio had captured 15 of the previous 17 games between the two rivals but Dallas has won FOUR of the last five regular-season meetings against the Spurs. I expect Dallas to make a second half 'push' and will lay the points in this one.

Nebraska (+6.5) is worth a look as a decently priced dog against Penn State in Wednesday's First Round matchup in the Big Ten Tournament. This Cornhuskers team has made some serious strides from the start of the season. One of the big reasons for that is they finally got their offense going. Nebraska averaged 73.7 ppg over their final 6 contests, which is pretty impressive when you consider they only averaged 65.9 ppg in Big Ten play for the entire season. There's also zero reason to think they can't win this game given how well they played Penn State in the two meetings during the season. Nebraska beat Penn State 62-61 on the road in the first matchup and then only lost by 3 (83-86) at home in the second meeting. Play the Cornhuskers +6.5!

Wednesday NHL Free play. My selection is on Colorado over Arizona at 9:05 pm et on Wednesday.
We're being asked to pay a considerable tariff to back the Avalanche on Wednesday night but I believe the price is warranted. The Avs have now dropped back-to-back games but should get a boost with the expected return of Nathan MacKinnon on Wednesday night. Colorado has been dealing with a number of key injuries lately but this isn't a team shy on depth. Note that Arizona is a miserable 3-17 when coming off a one-goal victory over the last two seasons, outscored by an average margin of 1.4 goals in that situation. Meanwhile, the Avs have gone 30-14 when revenging a loss against an opponent over the last two seasons, outscoring opponents by an average margin of one goal. Take Colorado (8*).

There has been a lot of talk that the Cyclones are the best 2-21 team in the country. While it is correct, keep in mind their two wins were against Arkansas Pine Bluff and Jackson State. As much as the Iowa State coaching staff will stress that this is a new season, these players know what's up.
Oklahoma beat Iowa State by 7 and 10 points in the two meetings. We are catching a very good Sooners team off four straight losses. Games in which the advanced metrics thought they should have had much better results. Look for a very angry Oklahoma team to lay some wood to the Cyclones.

Not every game we play has to be between top-ranked teams or even major conferences. There is gold in them lesser-known squads and leagues. On paper, this game seems to be an evenly-matched contest. But games aren’t played on paper and if you look closely, you will find that there is an edge for the Owls. They have a more-explosive offense, ranking 39th and accounting for over 78.6 PPG. And to a surprise, they own one of the nations best offensive rebounding corps (8th, 37.5 RPG). Yes, the Miners come in here 4-1 their last five SU and 5-0 ATS those five games. But the Owls are just a half-point from covering their last four contests and winning all four.
