EUROMANTIC - Faces state bred foes today after finishing sixth versus 'open' company on August 10th. This jockey/conditioner duo has been producing a very favorable ROI, right at +81. POMEROY HAZE - State bred races are generally easier than 'open' company, and this gelding's move into the 'state bred' class today should make him tough in here. That last outing must not have been too hard on this gelding for him to be able to race again so quickly. This gelding is in excellent form right now. Ended up second in the last race and comes back quickly. This gelding should be at the peak of fitness, this far into his form cycle. The improved speed ratings over the last 3 races is great. Gustafson drops him in this affair ready to go.

GREAT FACES - This gelding hasn't had any recent success in short distance races. No picnic to bet on him in this event. OKIE STANDARD - I don't see this questionable contender doing too much off of the extended vacation. He probably needs a start or two to get back into shape. The speed fig in the last race doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's race. Mark this racer as a questionable contender. D TOZ - No value in throwing a few bucks at this questionable contender. Probably won't improve off that September 3rd race.

DULVERTON is my choice. Sinnefia has one of the best winning percentages in this group with entries running at this distance and surface. Has run solidly when racing a dirt sprint race. COMMUNICATION FAIL - Seems to have a solid class edge based on the recent company kept. Recent figs for the rider - 28 win percent - make this gelding stand out in this group. CAYMAN ISLAND - Ought to be considered a solid contender on earnings per start at the distance/surface alone. This gelding has a good win percent in dirt sprint races.

WE'VE HAD ENOUGH - Don't often see a profitable return on investment like +606. This jock/trainer twosome has done well together over the last twelve months. Trying to win for the 1st time moving from a grass race to the dirt. I think Squires will have her fit for today's race. SASSYWITHATTITUDE - Earnings per start is something that I believe can be a very valuable handicapping aspect. This mount is ranked at the top of the list in this group. THANKS LAURA - This rider and conditioner have a high win percentage together. This filly is in good physical condition. Ended up second on August 21st. This filly recorded a nice speed rating of 65 in her last event. That speed fig should be good enough to win this time.

The Braves are coming off a home series against the Nationals that featured two wild, back-and-forth, high-scoring affairs. Here, I'm expecting a lower-scoring contest as Atlanta welcomes Miami on Friday night. Note that the 'under' is 9-1 with the Marlins playing on the road with triple-revenge against an opponent this season, as is the case here, with those contests averaging a total of just 5.2 runs. The 'under' is also 16-5 with Miami playing on the road after six or more consecutive games at home, with that situation producing an average total of just 6.9 runs. Both of tonight's starting pitchers are capable with Trevor Rogers having recorded a 1.09 WHIP in 11 road starts this season for the Marlins and Ian Anderson of the Braves having posted a 1.11 WHIP in nine home outings. Meanwhile, the Miami bullpen has recorded a collective 0.78 WHIP over its last seven games while Atlanta's relief corps has combined to post a 1.02 WHIP over that same stretch. Take the under.

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Friday is with the Chicago White Sox with the money-line versus the Boston Red Sox listing both starting pitchers Carlos Rodon and Tanner Houck. Chicago (46-24) has lost two games in a row after a 3-1 loss at Oakland yesterday. The White Sox have won 5 of their last 6 games after a loss. Chicago has also won 8 of their last 11 home games against teams with winning records. Boston (80-62) comes off a 2-1 win against Tampa Bay on Wednesday. The Red Sox go back on the road where they have lost 14 of their last 20 games. Boston has also lost 11 of their last 14 games as an underdog.
