The $100,000 LA Bred Premier Matron Stakes should be a good one between Icy Charlie and Cilla should go well for the top prize.
Icy Charlie is 6 for 11 and has been running in consistent form recently. She has finished 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd in her last four attempts.
In her latest attempt, Icy Charlie placed 2nd behind Cilla by 2 ¾ lengths for a $75,000 prize. That was a decent effort in her stakes debut after winning on December 15 to complete a hat-trick.
Icy Charlie most recently won by 4 ¾ lengths for a $38,000 purse. The jump in class didn’t help get another win, but was competitive at that level.
Cilla has already beaten Icy Charlie and should have the upper hand again. Cilla is 6 for 13 in her career, with the mare going into this one with good experience.
She has a graded win on her resume, with a win on September 4 in the $250,000 Prioress Stakes (Gr. 2). In her latest race, she beat Icy Charlie in the Orleans Stakes. Expect more of the same on saturday afternoon.

The $100,000 LA Bred Premier Starlet covers a mile on the dirt on Saturday afternoon. Consider looking at Medley and Free Like a Girl to be there biting at the wire.
Medley has finished 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 1st in six races. In her last try on January 13, Medley defeated Mispachah by 5 lengths in a $53,000 event. That was a solid effort, though this is going to be tougher.
Before the win, Medley showed 3rd in the $100,000 Louisana Champions Lassie Stakes on December 11. Back up to the stakes level, we’ll see if Medley learned anything after a win.
Free Like a Girl has a 50% win rate with 5 wins in 10 attempts. She has finished 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st in her previous five starts.
In her most recent outing, Free Like a Girl beat Wholelottamo in a blowout by 6 ¼ lengths in the $109,600 Louisiana Futurity after finishing ahead of Medley in the Lassie Stakes, but ¾ lengths behind Buckley Bunny for the win.
That ended a three-race win streak for Free Like a Girl. She was coming off a win in the $100,000 My Trusty Cat Stakes by 1 ½ lengths. This looks like a manageable race for Free Like a Girl to win another.

The $100,000 LA Bred Premier Sprint is our final selection at Delta Downs. This is a short 5-furlong dash for the top prize. Bertie’s Galaxy and Wild Bert are on my shortlist to win the Premier Sprint.
Wild Bert is 10 for 38 in his career, with an epic romp having finished in the top-2 in ten straight attempts. Two races back, Wild Bert beat Laughingsaintssong by 3 ½ lengths in a $36,000 assignment.
Good work from Wild Bert, though he couldn’t make it another on January 8 in the $75,000 Sam’s Town Stakes. It was still a fine run, but Wild Bert had a 3 length loss behind Greeley and Ben up in class.
Bertie’s Galaxy is 9 for 22 and in good form as of late. He is coming off a neck win over Win Ya Win for a $48,000 purse. This came after placing 2nd behind Monte Man by ¾ lengths in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Sprint Stakes.
Bertie’s Galaxy has solid experience in this grade and has run well before. I’m following the No. 9 to win Race 7.
