Play on: Santa Clara +1½ -110 at Mirage

      Dave's Saturday Free Play:
      1* on Santa Clara +1.5
The Key: Santa Clara is 6-1 SU & 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games overall including home wins over both BYU and St. Mary's. The lone loss for the Broncos during this stretch came 85-88 at San Francisco. Now the Broncos get a chance to avenge that defeat at home and should not be underdogs in the rematch with how well they are playing right now. San Francisco is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games overall with a 3-point win over Portland and an upset loss to Portland as massive favorites in both games. The Dons are 0-9 ATS in their last 9 games off a win by 20 points or more. San Francisco is 2-8-1 ATS in its last 11 road games. The Broncos are 12-3 SU at home this year and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games. Take Santa Clara.

FREE PICK: Notre Dame Fighting Irish +1.5
            RATING: 30*
            ROT#: 767
I'll take my chances with Notre Dame as a 1.5-point road dog against Clemson on Saturday. The Fighting Irish have had quite the turnaround this season. Notre Dame is 13-2 over their last 15 games after starting the season just 4-5. They are tied with Duke on top the ACC standings at 10-3.
It's the opposite for the Tigers, as Clemson has gone just 3-8 over their last 11 games and are a disappointing 4-9 in a very mediocre ACC this year. I just don't think the Tigers deserve to be favored in this one, especially given the spot.
Clemson's last two games were at home against North Carolina and Duke, which I think sets them up for a bit of a letdown here, especially with one of their top playmakers, David Collins, suspended for this game after a hard foul he delivered in their last game against the Blue Devils.
Collins has been the Tigers most consistent weapon offensively, as he's shooting 51.7% from the field and a team-best 44.1% from the 3-pt line. There just doesn't figure to be many easy looks for Clemson's offense against a stingy Notre Dame defense. Give me the Fighting Irish +1.5!

Play on: Pelicans -5½ -115 at BetCris

Play - New Orleans Pelicans (Game 566).
Edges - Pelicans: 5-1-1 ATS as a home favorite this season; and 3-1 ATS at home versus non-rested foes this season … Spurs: 8-17 SU since Christmas, including 2-6 ATS versus foes coming off a SUATS loss … With the Pelicans coming off a 15-point home loss, we recommend a 1* play on New Orleans. Thank you and good luck as always.

                NBA | Nuggets vs Raptors
Play on: Raptors -3 -110 at Ace

This is a free pick on Toronto.
The Raptors have won eight straight, and they host the Nuggets after they lost in Boston last night. The home team has won five straight head to head meetings, and the Nuggets are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on 0 days rest. The Raptors are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 home games, and they are are 17-4 ATS in their last 21 games as a favorite. Playing north of the border is tough at the best of time, but this is a tough spot for the visitors playing the second game of a back to back.

                      NHL | Hurricanes vs Wild
Play on: Wild +100 at linepros

Saturday NHL Free play. My selection is on Minnesota over Carolina at 8:05 pm et on Saturday.
The Wild came out of the break with an ugly 2-0 loss in Winnipeg earlier this week. They've now had three full days to digest that poor performance and I'm anticipating a much stronger effort as they return home to host the Hurricanes on Saturday. Carolina has collected just three of a possible six points through its first three games of this post-break road trip. The Canes were fortunate to catch the Bruins without both Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron on Thursday, ultimately winning that game by a 5-0 score. Here, we'll note that the Wild check in a long-term winner at 123-76 when playing at home after scoring one goal or less in their previous game, outscoring opponents by an average margin of 0.6 goals in that situation. Minnesota has of course been outstanding at home this season, going 14-4 while averaging 4.6 goals per game and outscoring the opposition by an average margin of 1.6 goals. Take Minnesota.

NCAA-B | Penn State vs Minnesota
Play on: Minnesota -1 -110 at Caesars

My free play is on Minnesota at 8:30 ET.
Minnesota will host Penn State Saturday in Minneapolis, looking to snap a five-game losing streak. The no-so-Golden Gophers are 11-10 overall, including 2-10 in Big Ten play. The Penn St Nittany Lions visit Williams Arena having lost FIVE of six, falling to 9-11 overall, including 4-8 in Big Ten play. Both schools have new head coaches, Micah Shrewsberry for Penn St (1st Div I head coaching gig) and Ben Jonhson for Minnesota (also his first head coaching gig).
Pickett (12.9-3.9-4.1) leads a trio of guards for Penn St, along with Sessoms (11.5-3.4-4.0) and Dread (6.3). The 6-6 Lundy (12.7 & 5.6) leads the way up front, along with the 6-9 Harrar (10.2 & 9.4) and the 6-9 Lee (7.8 & 5.9). There was a mass exodus at Minnesota, as players transferred right and left (NONE of last year's starters came back!). Most notably, Minnesota lost (to Texas) one of last season's best backcourt players in Carr (19.4-4.0-4.9). Minnesota's best frontcourt players have been the 6-7 Battle (17.2 & 6.5) and the 6-9 Curry (8.2 & 6.5), while PG Willis (16.5-4.8-4.2) and fellow guard Stephens (10.9), are the best perimeter players.
These schools are set to meet twice in six days (teams play again at Penn St on Feb 17) and I expect the home team to win both games. However, first things first. Penn St is just 1-6 SU in true road games this season, so I'm not the least bit interested in taking them on the road in basically a pick'em situation. The Gophers come up 'golden,' at least for ONE night/game.
                        Good luck...Larry

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR SATURDAY, 2/12:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Saturday was on the Los Angeles Lakers plus the points versus the Golden State Warriors. Los Angeles (26-30) lost their sixth game in their last eight in a 107-105 upset loss at Portland as an 8-point underdog on Wednesday. With the trade deadline passing with a significant move, the Lakers are now in desperation mode to make do with the roster they have if they want to return to the postseason this spring. They are healthy again with LeBron James and Anthony Davis back on the court — and they have covered the point spread in 6 of their last 8 games after a straight-up loss. Los Angeles has also covered the point spread in 4 of their last 5 trips to Golden State to play the Warriors. Golden State (41-15) is on a two-game losing streak after their 116-114 loss to New York as a 9.5-point favorite on Thursday. The Warriors stay at home where they are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 home games as a favorite. Golden State is just 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games against teams with a losing record. Take the LA Lakers plus the points. Best of luck — Frank.

                            1* NBA - Lakers/Warriors FREE PICK on Warriors -6.5
Saturday's Free NBA Pick is on the Golden State Warriors as a 6.5-point home favorite against the Los Angeles Lakers. I just don't trust this Lakers team right now. LA is 2-6 over their last 8 games and their two wins have come against the Blazers and Knicks. Both of those wins the Lakers had to rally from behind to win. They were down 20 before rallying to beat the Knicks in James' first game back. They then lost by 15 at home to the Bucks and by 2 as a 8-point favorite at the Blazers.
Now they faced a hungry Warriors team that is coming off back-to-back losses and to make matters worse, both James and Westbrook are listed as questionable. I also wonder about the psyche of this Lakers team after they didn't make any moves at the trade deadline. Bet the Warriors -6.5!

The Oregon State Beavers are the worst team in the Pac-12 this season and it's not even close. They are 3-18 SU & 5-15-1 ATS this season including 1-10 SU & 3-7-1 ATS in Pac-12 play. The Beavers have lost eight straight coming in with six losses by double-digits. The Cardinal have been through the gauntlet and have impressive upset wins over USC twice. They lost by single-digits in their last two games to both UCLA and Oregon. Now they will be hungry for a victory tonight to get back on track and should get it against the awful Beavers. Oregon State is 3-10 ATS in its last 13 home games. Home-court advantage has meant very little in this series as the road team is 7-3 SU & 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings. Give me Stanford.
