Top Horse Racing Picks for Friday, February 18, 2022
By J.W. Paine in Horse Racing

I visited Golden Gate Fields, Oaklawn Park, and Turf Paradise for my Friday horseracing picks, and discovered plenty of underdogs as well as a couple of sleepers to please our bankrolls.

As an added bonus, we’ve got a couple of ungraded stakes races at Turf Paradise filled with talented competitors to challenge our handicapping skills.

Remember that you can find the full race-cards for each of the three tracks at our best horseracing wagering sites.

            Good luck!
My Friday Picks for Golden Gate Fields

Let’s start on the all-weather track with race four, a one-mile claiming run for fillies and mares sour years old and upward that have never won two races (maiden, claiming and starter races for $16,000 or less not considered in eligibility).

There are a couple of likely victors in this six-horse field, but I’m going with the one with the most recent success: the 8/1 sleeper, G*****o, ridden by veteran jockey Irving Orozco.

This four-year-old filly finished in the money four of her ten career starts, winning three. Yeah, she was slow on the uptake, but once she got the hang of it, she’s done just fine.
After also-ran performances in her first five maiden attempts, G*****o graduated last September at Los Alamitos, moving on immediately to finish second in a claiming race, then winning two more claiming races—including her most recent in January.

Isidro Tamayo—a relative newcomer who has ranked among the top 100 in wins for the past four years—trains G*****o for Frankly Speaking, LLC. Tamayo has tapped Orozco to saddle G*****o for her three most recent runs, resulting in two wins.

Race seven is a one-mile claiming run on the all-weather track for four-year-olds and upward that have never won two races (maiden, claiming and starter races for $16,000 or less not considered in eligibility).

I’m calling this one for the second-favored (at 5/2) Rocktillyoudrop, with William Antongeorgi III in the irons.

This four-year-old gelding moneyed nine of his 16 career starts, winning five, including his most recent. His record easily puts him in the statistical lead of this six-horse field.

Isidro Tamayo trains Rocktillyoudrop for owner John Tipton. Antongeorgi has been aboard for Rocktillyoudrop’s last two races, resulting in a third-place and a win.

Race eight is a 5-1/2 furlong allowance optional claiming race on the all-weather track for three-year-olds. No question: This race belongs to the 9/5 morning-line favorite, Tizlightning, piloted by veteran jockey Armando Ayuso.

This gelding won all three of his career starts. Incidentally, Ayuso had a great 2021, and so far, 2022 looks to be even better.

Longtime horseracing veteran Steven Miyadi trains Tizlightning for owner-breeder Lori Gallegos.
            Thursday Picks for Oaklawn Park

We’ll start on the dirt track for race two, a six-furlong claiming race for four-year-olds and upward. My money’s on the 7/2 second-favored Win With Pride, with top jockey Ramon A. Vazquez aboard.

This eight-year-old gelding finished 26 of his 44 career starts in the money, winning 12. Even in an tightly matched nine-horse field like this one, he’ll do just fine.

Ranked among the top 100 trainers for both wins and earnings every year since 2010, Karl Broberg trains Win With Pride for 501 Boys Racing LLC.

Race eight is a six-furlong allowance race on the dirt track for four-year-olds and upward. I am betting my two dollars on the 6/1 sleeper, Mesa Moon, piloted by top jockey Elvin Gonzalez.

This five-year-old gelding takes the spotlight in this nine-horse field: Eleven money finishes in 14 career starts, five of them wins.
Mesa Moon has been campaigned aggressively at the stakes level, most notably finishing second in the Oklahoma Classics Sprint Stakes (Black Type) at Remington Park two years running (2020 and 2021).

Scott E. Young trains Mesa Moon for owner-breeder Cimarron TTT Farms LLC.

Race nine is a 1-1/16 miles starter allowance race for four-year-olds and upward. I agree with the morning line: Bet on the 3/1 favorite, Brice, ridden by David Cabrera.

This five-year-old gelding finished ten of his 19 career starts in the money, eight of them wins.

His five-race winning streak last year was broken in August by a fourth-place finish in the Philip H. Iselin Stakes (Grade III) at Monmouth Park—after which he added another win to his personal scoreboard with a claiming race victory here at Oaklawn.

Jerry Hollendorfer trains Brice for owners Hollendorfer LLC, Tri-Star Racing LLC, George Todaro.
            Thursday’s Picks for Turf Paradise

Let’s start on the turf course with race four—the Princess of Palms Stakes, a $60,000 purse, 7-1/2 furlong run for three-year-old fillies. I’m backing the 5/2 morning-line favorite, Mimajoon, ridden by veteran jockey Harry Hernandez.

This filly moneyed two of her four career starts, winning her second maiden attempt in mid-November and the Golden Gate Debutante Stakes (Black Type) later that same month.
A bad stumble at the start of the Santa Ynez Stakes (Grade II) kept her out of the money at Santa Anita in January.

Among the top-ranked for wins for the past five years, Jonathan Wong trains Mimajoon for owner-breeder Scott Herbertson.

We’re back on the dirt track for race six, a one-mile allowance optional claiming race four-year-olds and upward. I like the 5/2 morning-line favorite here, as well: Launch Pad, with Leslie Mawing in the irons.

This four-year-old ridgling finished seven of his 12 career starts in the money, winning two, including his most recent run here at Turf Paradise.

Mike Chambers trains Launch Pad for owner Dale Dobson. Chambers has tapped Mawing to saddle Launch Pad for his two most recent races.

Let’s head back to the turf course for race eight—the Startac Stakes, a $60,000 purse, 7-1/2 furlong race for three-year-olds.

Much as I hate to say it, I have to agree with the morning line here, as well: My win ticket is on the 3/1 favorite, Bango for Bucks, ridden by veteran jockey Glenn W. Corbett.

This gelding moneyed all five of his career starts, winning three of them, including his initial maiden attempt last September as well as his most recent, the ATBA Three Year Old Sales Stakes in January.

In December, he placed second in both the Lost in the Fog Juvenile Stakes and the Arizona Breeders’ Futurity.

Bill Brashears trains Bango for Bucks for owners Tom W. Bartol and Richard Dezonno.

BetOnline opens the weekend card with at least 15 racecourses for wagering. There are two small $60,000 stakes races at Turf Paradise. The main show is on Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course.

              Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

The $400,00 Risen Star Stakes (Gr. 2), a 50-20-10-5 point race for the Kentucky Derby, is scheduled in New Orleans tomorrow. That’s a big one that could have the 2022 Kentucky Derby winner participating in.

We’ll have picks at Fair Grounds Race Course for the action on Saturday, so check back on the horse racing page for tomorrow. Our first look on Friday is at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. Aqueduct has eight races worth $402,000 this afternoon.

Head below for our best Aqueduct Racetrack picks on February 18, 2022.

              Distance:7 Furlongs
              Purse:$53,000

Race 2 is a 7-furlong event for a $53,000 purse on the dirt. Bourbon Rebellion and Bella Principessa should be involved in this run at Aqueduct on Friday afternoon.

Bourbon Rebellion is 2 for 12 in her career and has finished 4th, 1st, 4th, 4th in the last four outings. She struck with a $34,000 win by 1 ¾ lengths on September 20 and then dropped to 4th in back-to-back races.

The mare finished 4th for a $34,000 prize on October 18. In her next outing, Bourbon Rebellion was 4th in a $28,000 assignment. This might be too tough, but it isn’t too bad for a $53,000 event.

Bella Principessa is a two-time winner through 12 attempts, finishing 2nd, 1st, 8th, 1st, 3rd in her last five races. After finishing 8th on November 11, Bella Principessa beat Queentigua by 6 ½ lengths for a $28,000 purse.

In her latest assignment, Bella Principessa showed 3rd in a $72,000 event on January 23. That was good work from Bella Principessa in that grade.

Down to $53,000 against this field, Bella Principessa should have success.

              Distance: 1 Mile
              Purse:$84,000

Race 5 covers a mile on the dirt for an $84,000 purse. Customerexperience and Ice Princess should have an opening to go well into the stretch.

Customerexperience carries two straight wins going into Friday. She is eyeing a hat-trick after a $55,000 win by 6 ¾ lengths on January 23.

Customerexperience has finished 1st, 4th, 1st, 1st in her last four attempts. After finishing 4th in a $60,000 event, Customerexperience found success for $50,000 and $550,000.

Up in class to $84,000, we’ll see if Customerexperience is ready for this class now. Ice Princess should be the one to give Customerexperience a big fight.

Ice Princess has 4 wins in 16 races and coming off three straight stakes races. The mare has placed 2nd in three straight, most recently by 3 ¾ lengths in the $100,000 Bay Ridge Stakes.

Before that run, Ice Princess placed 2nd behind Sharp Starr by 3 ¼ lengths in the $250,000 Empire Distaff Handicap on October 30.

This looks like a good opportunity for Ice Princess to get back on track for her first win since a 4 length $103,000 win on August 19. Ice Princess should fend off a bold bid from Customerexperience.

              Post Time: 3:25 p.m. EST
              Distance:1 Mile
              Purse:$36,000

The sixth race at Aqueduct is a mile on the dirt for a $36,000 purse. This should be a good one between Make It In Ny and Mister Candy Ride in the stretch run.

Make It In Ny is 1 for 9 in his career with a win on December 4, 2020 in the second race of his career. He has gone winless since then, but should have a fair chance in Race 6.

Make It In Ny is 5th, 3rd, 4th in his previous three attempts. He showed 3rd on December 30 for $36,000 on December 30 for a competitive race.

In his most recent outing, Make It In Ny finished 4th in a $72,000 event up in class. That wasn’t bad and pretty good given the grade.

Mister Candy Ride has a win on nine races, finishing 8th, 2nd, 6th in his last three races. She placed 2nd behind Royal Tryst by ¾ lengths in a $66,000 assignment on November 21.

In her most recent showing, Mister Candy Ride was 6th on February 4 for $55,000. That was a decent run, but too tough. Down to $36,000, expect Mister Candy Ride to be in control.

The No. 3 has to be worth a look to win Race 6.
              The Bet

Oaklawn Picks: Saffa's Day a play on February 18
                By J.N. Campbell

Oaklawn Park Picks - Friday, February 18, 2022

                Race 1: 2-1-9-5
                Race 2: 3-2-9-4
                Race 3: 4-5-1-10
                Race 4: 6-3-1/1A-9
                Race 5: 9-1-3-10
                Race 6: 6-11-9-2
                Race 7: 5-9-3-12
                Race 8: 4-9-7-5
                Race 9: 10-7-2-9
**Most Likely Winner: Rift Valley #6 (Race 4)**
**Best Value: Uncaptured Dream #4 (Race 3)**

Most Likely Winner: (Race 4: Rift Valley #6, 7/2):

Trainer John Ortiz has made a nice name for himself in the business, and you always know that when you back one of his runners at the window; they are going to be prepared. Here is a New York bred that is going to get the best of both worlds … cutback in distance and some major class relief. Last year, this gelding by Pioneerof the Nile competed mostly in ALLW Co. at all 3 NYRA tracks. After a break, Shortleaf and Ortiz got him ready to take on the Claiming ranks at Oaklawn. Even though his 1st race back did not go so well (5th), he made up some ground late in that race. He should be primed and ready to roll, as David Cabrera gets the call.

                Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #6

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 3: Uncaptured Dream #4, 6/1):

Trainer Scott Becker has a good Meet going right now, and against this MC30k group, he has a 1st time starter that looks to be ready to fire. I don’t usually go for these types, but the rest of this field looks vulnerable. Some are dropping down after doing very little running, while others (like Popster #5 and Beeasy #10) appear to be a bit shaky at this condition level. I like Becker’s approach to training, and the bloodlines look promising. This gelding is by Uncaptured, and with Luis Contreras in the irons, has a shot to catch this field napping. Here’s hoping that we get 6/1, or even higher … it may not happen.

                Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #4 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, 6F, ALLW100k, 4+):

One of the toughest races of the day is this ALLW Co. go … a sprint down the backstretch. Out of these older males, I am pretty keen to place a large wager on Rene Amescua’s Saffa’s Day #4. This son of Carpe Diem was claimed off of Steve Asmussen, and after he went 1:10 and change over a wet OP MT. That was a Clm50k condition race back on 8 Jan., and now he returns to take on some tougher folks. Looking through his back class, you will recall that he ran in the Southwest S. (G3) last year against “EQ,” Jackie’s, and Spielberg … not bad. Even though he was far back in that tough race, he ended up running a close 2nd in his next pair of races in Hot Springs. Those were challenging OCs; so, he is more than talented. Using him on top makes sense, but I also have respect for Mike Maker’s layoff entry, Wayakin #5, Norm Casse’s late-running A C Expressway #7, and finally, Brad Cox’s Outasite #9, who has not been seen for nearly a year. Each of these looks promising, but I do not think they have the ability that Amescua’s does. Plus, expert rider Florent Geroux gets the call, and he is riding as well as ever! Time to load up on this Tom Kagele-owned sprinter for a barn that is making some solid moves.

                Wagering Recommendation: $2 Superfecta Wheel, 4 w 5/7/9 w 5/7/9 w 5/7/9

Aqueduct Picks: Going a mile on February 18
                  By J.N. Campbell

                  Aqueduct Picks - Friday, February 18, 2022

                  Race 1: 1-6-3-4
                  Race 2: 3-1-5-6
                  Race 3: 6-2-3-1
                  Race 4: 3-1/1A-7-2
                  Race 5: 2-5-1-6
                  Race 6: 8-5-3-6
                  Race 7: 2-4-6-8
                  Race 8: 5-4-12-8
**Most Likely Winner: Ice Princess #2 (Race 5)**
**Best Value: Straight Skinny #8 (Race 6)**

Most Likely Winner: (Race 5: Ice Princess #2, 9/5):

Trainer Danny Gargan divides his time in the winter between New York and Florida. Up North, he has a mare by Palace Malice that should enjoy a class drop this afternoon. Running against tough state bred competition at the “Non-G” level, she is getting freshened up to start her new campaign. This is a good spot because I am sure that Aqueduct stakes action is in her future, or the impending Belmont Meet. Jose Lezcano was aboard last time, and will be at it again. His skills are pretty impressive, no matter what the situation might be. Gargan adds to his win column today …

                  Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #2

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 6: Straight Skinny #8, 6/1):

Trainer Amira Chichakly sent this gelding by Beautyinthepulpit into a state bred contest going long at Aqueduct back in late January. That was not a horrible effort on the step-up; he actually held his own for a good bit of the race. Going 1 1/8th is never easy. Now, his conditioner drops this one back into a perect spot. I think he should be able to harness some of that ability he exhibited 2-back in a similar. He was 13/1 that afternoon in December at Aqueduct … I doubt that will be the case today. Young Samuel Camacho gets the call, and this will be his 4th try. If he can clear the gate in good order, then he could be looking at frontrunning victory! This barn needs a good win …

                  Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #8 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 7: Dirt, 1 Mile, AOC45k, F&M 4+ NY Breds):

Rolling into this Friday, we have a strong contingent of older females that will be contesting this 1-turn mile on the MT @AQU. A nice group of 8 will be going forward, and to my eye, there is a clear winner in Mashnee Girl #2 for trainer Mark Hennig. I will be backing her to the hilt at the window because I think she is a deserving favorite. The NY homebred is moving up in class from state company, and boy, was she good in her last contest at “The Big A.” The fractions she set were pretty stiff, enroute to a frontrunning victory for Hennig. Graduating into a spot like this one is always great to see. Kendrick Carmouche had the mount on 13 Jan., and will do so again. Who doesn’t like one that can elevate up the ladder, as opposed to down? As for the rest of the field, I also like the exploits of Ifihadachance #4. This Falcone mare by Courageous Cat is getting back to the track after being off since Belmont. She was running in this kind of company before, and now with some maturity under her saddle, she should be ready to fire off the shelf. The hot-riding Jose Gomez is a “bug” that is exciting to watch, as he learns the ropes. This barn has a good thing going, and I like the numbers. Let’s use this one underneath. Time to cash a ticket …

                  Wagering Recommendation: $2 Exacta Cold, 2 w 4

#1 Social Engagement takes a big drop down in class for this race after struggling against tougher last time out. #3 Fleche dAmour moves back to the synthetic surface, while also dropping down in class for this one today.

#6 Steel City Dude moves over to the turf for this race after running very well over the synthetic surface. That form should translate well to this surface. #2 Eternal Rest will be doing the same thing as our top choice after running well over the synthetic.

#3 Absolute Grit moves back to the dirt for this race after struggling over the synthetic surface last time out. #1 Ensign Parker will take a slight drop down in class while also moving back to the dirt for this contest today.

                    Race 9: Allowance Optional Claiming

#4 Exchange Day gets back to the turf for this race, which is his best surface, while he looks to be the lone speed in this spot. #3 Timmy M. will also move back to the turf for this one after an impressive win over the synthetic surface last time out.

Friday night racing in Sydney heads to Canterbury Park this week with eight races set to be run. HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting, along with odds from Australia’s top betting sites. The track is currently a Soft 5 and the rail is out 3m for the entire course. Racing gets underway at 6:00pm AEDT sharp with the running of a 2YO Maiden Handicap over 1200m.
Best Bet at Canterbury – Devil’s Throat

We can be a forgiving bunch sometimes, us punters. Devil’s Throat has been looking like winning a race for a while now, having run second in four of his six career starts so far. The three-year-old gelding has been given plenty of chances by not only us, but plenty of punters, having started favourite in most of those six runs. The son of Snitzel was backed off the map first-up in the Magic Millions Maiden and ran second, before starting $1.65 last time when beaten narrowly. Tommy Berry retains the ride on this Snowden-trained galloper, which is a big advantage, while barrier six should see them settle midfield on the outside of runners before going past the rest in the straight. This is his chance.

                        $2 with Sportsbet
                        Next Best Bet – Sammy

Kris Lees and Kerrin McEvoy combine in the fifth with the resuming Sammy. The son of Medaglia d’Oro was a winning machine last campaign, taking out back-to-back races at Newcastle before clearly being outclassed in the $500,000 Silver Eagle. Sammy has since trialled twice and done well without being asked for too much of an effort in preparation for his first-up run. The four-year-old gelding has never missed the placings in four first-up attempts, while the 1300m – or 1250m at Canterbury in this instance – will be his sweet spot. From barrier five, expect Sammy to roll along on the speed and prove too hard to catch, despite having to lug 60kg.

Canterbury Value Bet – Golden Gorge

In the final race of the night, Matthew Dale and Jason Collett combine with Golden Gorge, a son of Mossman. The five-year-old gelding has been racing in country and provincial races for most of his campaign, but he has contested three Highway races in the city and has not been disgraced. Last time out at Rosehill, Golden Gorge had a tough run in transit, loomed as the winner and got run down late by Markievicz over 1500m. He rises ever so slightly in trip to 1550m on Friday night and shouldn’t find this field much harder than what he was up against on January 29. From barrier three, Collett can have him in a handy spot, and he could be hard to beat at a nice price with Sportsbet.

The Listed Torney Night Cup is the feature event on Friday night as Moonee Valley plays host to eight races. We have gone through the card and found a couple of best bets and free quaddie selections, with odds provided by leading online Bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 5m for the entire circuit, while racing kicks off at 6:15pm with a 2YO Fillies No Metro Wins Plate.
Torney Night Cup Top Tip – Daiqansweet Junior

The Listed Torney Night Cup over 2500m is the feature event of the night, and we anticipate the Phillip Stokes-trained Daiqansweet Junior will continue on his winning ways. The four-year-old bay gelding was seemingly aimed for the Launceston Cup after his last-start win over the track and distance on January 22, but he’s been saved and set for this. He has strung together four consecutive wins this campaign for a combined margin of just 0.5 lengths, which shows he has a real knack for winning. Despite drawing barrier 10 on Friday, he was always going to settle at the rear of the field and then make his way into the race 600m or so out from home. He has a nice turn of foot and will stay all day. Considering a lot of his rivals are struggling for form in easier company, everything points to a fifth-straight win for Daiqansweet Junior.
                          Torney Night Cup
                          Race 6 – Daiqansweet Junior (#2)
                          $2.60 with Sportsbet
Moonee Valley Best Bet – Yulong Command

There is no hiding the fact that the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Yulong Command is a favourite of ours, and he managed to salute for us in a 1000m sprint at The Valley on January 22. He drops back to the 955m scamper in this and from barrier one looks to be the best bet of the night. In the small field of seven, apprentice Matthew Cartwright, who claims 2kg, can take up a forward position and use the perfect barrier to his advantage. Yulong Command may struggle to lead the field up with Sydneysider Capital Reign likely to be out in front, but Stakes-grade form puts him a class above this lot. Whether he leads or takes a sit off the speed, we expect the Written Tycoon gelding to be too good and make it a third win for this campaign.
                          Best Bet
                          Race 4 – Yulong Command (#3)
                          $2.30 with Sportsbet
Next Best Bet at Moonee Valley – Zerelle

In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Zerelle has a good chance to bring up consecutive victories for the first time in his career. The three-year-old bay gelding was an impressive winner in a BM64 affair at Ballarat on February 8 and looks set for the step back into metropolitan class. Having been wound up steadily over 1400m, the Snitzel gelding steps up to the mile second-up from a spell. He gains the services of Nash Rawiller and will most likely roll forward from barrier 11 in a bid to gain cover in and around the first six upon settling. His one start at the mile was in the Caulfield Guineas, where he was simply outclassed, but considering he was thrown into a Group 1, the stable must have some opinion of him.
                          Next Best
                          Race 5 – Zerelle (#11)
                          $4.40 with Ladbrokes
Moonee Valley Value Bet – Five Star Decanter

In the third leg of the quaddie, the Matt Laurie-trained Five Star Decanter is set to resume from a 10-month spell. We are under no illusions that he will only improve off this run, but what he showed in his debut campaign this time last year showed us he is a horse worth following when fit. He managed to win each of his first two starts, which were both over 1200m – the distance he returns at on Friday. He failed in harder races than this on rain-affected ground, but the fact he gets back to firmer going this time round suggests he may be a good bet at a price. Damian Lane will need a touch of luck early on in gaining cover, but if he gets that, then this son of Roc De Cambes has a strong enough turn of foot to take out a race like this.

Busan Friday: Race-By-Race Preview (February 18)

The weekend’s action gets underway at Busan on Friday with 8 races from 12:00 to 18:00. All betting locations are open as usual although attendance must be pre-booked and proof of vaccination against Covid-19 is required. Here are the previews:

                            Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

A maiden for three-year-olds kicks things off. (2) HANEUL GANGJA raced once back in August of last year when he performed fairly over 1000M. He is favoured for this based on a January trial which he won in fine style, running through the line well. He draws nicely and on that form is the one to beat. (13) ART KELLY won a trial before debuting just a week later on January 21st at this distance. She took a while to get going and only ran 7th but should have come on for that run and despite the wide draw can go better today. (7) DOCTOR KONGDOLI improved to 2nd place at start number two on January 23rd. He comes up in trip and for the first time and can continue his progression. (3) BARBELL POSEIDON has shown some promise and he draws much better today than he did on his first go at this distance last month. He will be coming on strong at the end. There are four debut-makers and among them (4) TRIPLE THUNDER looks the most likely to make an immediate impact.
Selections (2) Haneul Gangja (13) Art Kelly (7) Doctor Kongdoli (3) Barbell Poseidon
                            Next Best 4, 6
                            Fast Start 2, 4, 5, 9

                            Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

A very competitive maiden here. (11) CHEONGMA POWER has four top-five finishes from seven starts so far and is the only runner in the field with a 2nd place to her name. She ran on fairly for 5th place last start and has the fastest time among these at the distance. Today can be her day. (12) SPEED SUNSHINE comes in off back-to-back 4th place finishes. He too has registered competitive times at this distance and while the draw does him no favours, he can be in the mix here. (4) BAEK GU does draw well. She ran a decent 6th on her first try at this distance three weeks ago and can build on that today. (14) BARBELL STORM has been up and down the distances but may finally have found his go with a 4th at this trip on January 21st. He settled midfield and ran on that day so the draw may not hurt his chances here. (6) SUPER CRACK may improve from his debut at what should be good odds.
Selections (11) Cheongma Power (12) Speed Sunshine (4) Baek Gu (14) Barbell Storm
                            Next Best 6, 2
                            Fast Start 5, 7, 10, 13

                            Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

Another competitive race, this one for fillies only. Without huge confidence we’ll side with (10) GREEN PAPAGO. Her best finish came when 2nd on debut but she has run fairly in two starts since then and regardless of the wide draw, should be right in this. Draw a line through the latest showing from (9) B. K. HANA at 1000M. Instead go on her two starts immediately before that when she ran places in good times. Expect her to be on pace and to be in this a long way. (8) BLUE CARSON can be treated similarly. She had a hard time last start from the widest gate but prior to that had been going well with a 3rd and a 2nd, both at 1200M and from a kinder barrier today, should be a danger. (13) NEW FRESH was a much-improved 3rd last time out at this distance and under the same light weight today can be competitive again. (12) BAEDARI ICON another in the placing frame.
                            Selections (10) Green Papago (9) B. K. Hana (8) Blue Carson (13) New Fresh
                            Next Best 12, 7
                            Fast Start 6, 7, 9, 11

                            Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

Fillies and mares only here and (11) MISS GO is favoured. She has finished in the top-four in all four starts so far and comes back in trip following a good 2nd over 1400M last start when she led for most of the way around. She may need a touch of luck at the start but if she can get on pace again, she will be hard to go past. (9) ILNYEOM CHEONHA beat a couple of these when 5th at class and distance last time out when settling back and running on. She carries a light weight again and should be in the mix here. (13) GUARDIAN ANGEL is up in class following an all the way score over 1000M at her second start. She will need to overcome the draw but can measure up in this company. So too can (14) BORAMI who got her own maiden win at her third outing last month and can aim for a money finish again. (7) COLORFUL WIND struggled on her first attempt at this level but can be given another place chance here.
Selections (11) Miss Go (9) Ilnyeom Cheonha (13) Guardian Angel (14) Borami
                            Next Best 7, 5
                            Fast Start 5, 7, 11, 13

                            Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

                            (5) STAR ACE was a good winner on debut, getting on top early and running on to score comfortably over 1000M on January 31st. He comes up in both class and distance here but down in weight and from a good draw, he looks the one to beat again. (11) USEUNG GANGJA has performed solidly at this distance, including a good 3rd place last time out. She likes to settle back and run on, and she should be working home strongly again here. (7) INDIAN PART Y is yet to win in twenty-one starts but has no fewer than twelve top-four finishes to her name. She may find one or two too quick again but don’t rule out another money finish. (6) MONEY BAG and (13) HOT PLAY are among others in at least the placing frame.
Selections (5) Star Ace (11) Useung Gangja (7) Indian Party (6) Money Bag

                            (2) MISS INDIE ran out a class and distance winner on January 28th when prominent all the way around and running on well. She comes up 2kg in the weights, but she gets a nice draw again and should take some beating. (3) DOCTOR GIANTS ran 2nd to Miss Indie in that race, running on well from back in the field. He is a consistent performer and shapes to be the main danger once again. (5) ILBEONJI is rapidly up in class having won both of her starts at 1000M and 1200M. She has had two months off since the latest of those and while this is a significantly harder assignment than she has faced so far, she may well be equal to it. (6) ENDLESS RUNNING comes in here following bac-to-back 3rd place finishes at this class over 1200M and should be in the placing frame again. (4) CHEONNYEONUIYAKSO another to consider.
Selections (2) Miss Indie (3) Doctor Giants (5) Ilbeonji (6) Endless Running

                            Busan Race 7: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

                            (11) ADELE CROWN won back-to-back races to over a mile in November and December to get rapidly promoted to this class. He then ran 2nd, again over a mile, on his first try at this level on January 7t with a couple of today’s rivals behind him. He tackles two turns for the first time but there is no reason why it can’t suit, and he can return to winning ways here. (3) LANE KILLER was a good winner over this distance at his latest start on January 16th. He comes up in class here but that’s offset by a significant drop in the weights, and he has every chance of going close again. (14) TRIUMPH KING has plenty of experience at this level and comes in off a 3rd place over this distance last time out. The widest gate at 1800M at Busan is never ideal but he can be competitive again. (5) DUMUSAN and (13) SNYDER are others in the placing frame.
Selections (11) Adele Crown (3) Lane Killer (14) Triumph King (5) Dumusan

                            Busan Race 8: Class 3 (1600M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million

A competitive race to finish with. We’ll side with (14) YEOKJEON MYEONGSU to continue his consistent run of form which has seen him place no worse than 3rd in five outings to date. At his latest start on January 21st, he beat several of today’s rivals on his way to 2nd place at class and distance and while he comes up a full 4kg in the weights and has the widest gate to contend with, he can go one better here. (4) QUATTRO MAX is also ultra-consistent and comes in on a string of 3rd place finishes over 1800M. He comes back to the mile today and from a good draw looks firmly in the hunt here. (7) MAN OF TOP and (5) JANGSAN BOBBY were among those beaten by Yeokjeon Myeongsu last time out and they, along with (9) DUNCAN are among others to consider for the places.
