I'll gladly take my chances with Butler as a 8.5-point road dog against St. John's on Friday. The Bulldogs should not be this big of a dog against the Red Storm. These two teams played less than two weeks ago at Butler. While St. John's won that game 75-72, the Bulldogs had a 9-point lead with less than 15 minutes to play.
Always tough to beat a team twice in a short period of time and this Butler team is playing much better here of late. The Bulldogs are just 4-3 in their last 7 games, but their 3 losses during this stretch have all come by 3-points or fewer, including a couple of 2-point losses on the road to Xavier and Creighton.
Butler is 21-9 ATS last 3 seasons when reving a loss to an opponent. Give me the Bulldogs +8.5!

The Ivy League did not play last season due to COVID but the "Ancient Eight" are back at it this season. The Penn Quakers and Yale Bulldogs meet Friday from the John J. Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Ct. Penn stumbled in non-conference action going 3-10 but has rebounded in Ivy play by going 8-2. Yale was much better in non-conference with a 6-8 record and has gone 8-1 in Ivy games, losing only 76-68 at Penn back on Jan 22. The Bulldogs welcome the Quakers to New Haven having won SIX straight since that loss in Philly but also note that Penn will take a five-game winning streak into this 'battle' for first place in the Ivy League.

Penn is led by guard Dingle (20.1), who led the way with 31 points in Penn's home win over Yale. The 6-6 Martz (10.0 & 5.0) and guard Slajchert (10.0) are the best behind Dingle. Slajchert had 13 points vs Yale and Martz added 11 points. Yale is more balanced, led by guards Swain (19.1 & 4.3), Gabbidon (11.5 & 3.5) and Cotton (8.5 & 3.8), plus a frontline that includes 6-5 SF Knowling (6.9 & 4.0), the 6-8 Jarvis (6.2 & 4.4) and the 6-7 Kelly (6.1 & 4.0).

In the first meeting both teams were horrible from three-point range, Yale making only 3 of 19 and Penn connecting on just 5 of 26. I favor the "revenge" angle with the home team plus the fact that the favorite is 18-6 ATS in the last 24 meetings between Penn and Yale. Lay the points.

I really like this spot for Mississippi State, as they are going to be extremely motivated to get back in the win column after losing their last 4 and 6 of their last 7. Thing is, this losing streak has come against some of the best teams in the country in Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama. The other two losses were to Kentucky and Texas Tech. All 6 of those teams are ranked inside the Top 25 at KenPom. The Tigers are No. 137 and are just 3-9 on the road this season, losing by an average of 14.1 ppg. Bet Mississippi State -10.5!

Nashville has lost three straight since the All Star break, and goalie Saros has not looked himself since the break, with 3 subpar performances. Carolina has scored just 6 goals in that period This power outage may continue tonight, as the 'Canes have the NHL's 2nd ranked defense. Carolina has also underachieved lately, losing an uncharacteristic 4 of 5, but looked more on form in an overtime loss to their rivals, the Panthers, last time out. I am not sold on Nashville this year. Historically, the Hurricanes have had outrageous success against the Predators in Carolina. Nashville has struggled against high level teams, and are much the inferior team in this match-up. I am looking for bounce-back from the Hurricanes tonight. Take Carolina to win.
