      NBA | Thunder vs Spurs

Play on: Thunder +13½ -110 at Mirage

I understand the rebuilding, inexperienced Thunder have the fourth-worst record in the NBA at 20-48. But they also have the second best point spread mark in the league covering 61 percent of their games.
Gregg Popovich is a nice story for the Spurs. But Popovich's career wins can't hide the fact that San Antonio is 17 games below .500. The Spurs are 13-22 at home. They have lost seven of their last nine overall games and are 4-9 ATS during their previous 13 home contests.
San Antonio has no business then laying this high of a number against any NBA team.
Oklahoma City has one of the hottest scorers in basketball, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He's scored 30 or more points in eight of the Thunder's last 10 games.
The Thunder have excelled point spread-wise in this type of situation going 20-9-1 ATS versus below .500 opponents and 22-8 ATS during their past 30 road games. They also are 10-6-1 ATS the past 17 times when taking double-digits.

        NCAA-B | Iona vs Florida

Play on: Iona +6½ -105 at BetVegas

Jack's Free Pick Wednesday: Iona +6.5
The Iona Gaels (25-7) are a NCAA Tournament-caliber team that was upset by Rider in their conference tournament as double-digit favorites a week ago. Rick Pitino will have his team ready to go and looking forward to trying to make a run in the NIT. It starts with an upset at Florida Wednesday night.
The Florida Gators are disappointed they are not in the NCAA Tournament. They were a bubble team that needed a big finish, but they lost to Kentucky in their regular season finale and then lost a heartbreaker to Texas A&M in overtime in the first round of the SEC Tournament. I don't think the Gators want to be here nearly as bad as the Gaels do.
This motivational edge makes the Gaels live underdogs here. I also like the fact that Iona already upset an SEC team in Alabama and also played Kansas tough in the non-conference. Florida lost to Alabama 70-83 at home in their lone meeting with the Crimson Tide this season.
Iona is 9-2 ATS in non-conference games this season. The Gaels are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games vs. good teams that outscore their opponents by 4-plus points per game. Iona is 18-6 ATS in its last 24 games as an underdog, including 10-2 ATS in its last 12 games as a road underdog. The Gators are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games vs. a team with a winning record. Bet Iona Wednesday.

            NCAA-B | Iona vs Florida

Play on: Iona +7 -110 at Caesars

My free play is on Iona at 7:00 ET.
Rick Pitino's Iona Gaels (17-3) were the MAAC's best team this season, coming off last year's NCAA appearance but the Gaels' big dreams ended with a shocking 71-70 loss to Rider (8-12 in MAAC play) in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament. Iona (25-7) settled for an automatic NIT bid as the MAAC regular-season champs and will get 19-13 Florida in a first round game in Gainesville. The Gators are in flux, as head coach Mike White resigned Sunday to replace the fired Tom Crean at SEC rival Georgia. Associate head coach Al Pinkins will serve as interim coach against the Iona.
Pitino's used eight players this season, with guard Jolley (14.6 & 4.8) leading in scoring, while the 6-9 Joseph (12.9) is the team's top rebounder at 8.1. Joiner (11.5-4.2-3.4) starts in the backcourt with Jolley, while the 6-8 van Eyck (8.7 & 3.2) starts up front with Joseph. The 6-9 Slazinski (8.7 & 3.2) is the top player off the bench. Florida has five players chipping in between 8.6 and 16.3 PPG. The 6-11 Castleton leads in scoring (16.3) and rebounding (9.0), while guards Fleming (10.9 & 4.3) and Appleby (10.8) join him in double digits. A player to watch may be freshman guard Kowacie Reeves (just 4.9 PPG), who scored 21 points as the Gators tried to rally against Texas A&M in the SEC tourney.
While Pitino and his Gaels are disappointed to not be 'dancing,' it just may work out for the best. Realistically, Iona would have been fortunate to get past the Round of 64 but here in the NIT, who knows? Not getting ahead of myself, consider this for tonight's matchup. The Gaels beat NCAA Tournament No. 6 seed Alabama by four on a neutral floor, while Florida lost to the Crimson Tide at home by 13. In the Pitino/Pinkins matchup, which head coach do you want? Take the points!
            Good luck...Larry

Mike Lundin's Bulls vs Jazz NBA Free Pick March 16, 2022
Good spot to back Utah to bounce back from a home loss to Milwaukee. The Jazz are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite and the Bulls are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog. Additionally, the Bulls are going through a rough patch and have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last eight games.
                Free pick on Utah Jazz.

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR WEDNESDAY, 3/16:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Wednesday was with Under the Total in the First Four Round of the NCAA Tournament contest between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Notre Dame (22-10) enters the Big Dance coming off an 87-80 loss to Virginia Tech in a pick ‘em contest on March 10th. The Under is 4-1-2 in the Fighting Irish’s last 7 games after a straight-up loss. The Under is also 15-5-1 in their last 21 games in the NCAA Tournament. Rutgers (18-13) lost in the Quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament in an 84-74 loss to Iowa as a 6.5-point underdog on Friday. The Scarlet Knights have played 7 of their last 8 games Under the Total after a loss to a conference rival. And while that game with the Hawkeyes finished above the 144 point total, they have then played 19 of their last 28 games Under the Total after playing an Over in their last game. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

                    Dave's Wednesday Free Play:
                    1* on Chicago Bulls +5.5
The Key: The Chicago Bulls are as healthy as they have been in a long time. They are ready to make a run at the top seed in the Eastern Conference here down the stretch. The Utah Jazz are without Bojan Bogdanovic and struggle shooting without him as he spaces the floor so well and is their best shooter. The Jazz are just 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and should not be favored by 5.5 over the Bulls tonight. Utah is 1-8 ATS against Central Division teams this season. The Jazz are 3-11 ATS when playing 8 or more games in 14 days this season. Utah is 1-6-1 ATS in its last 8 games as a favorite. Take Chicago.

                      1* NBA - Bulls/Jazz FREE PICK on Bulls +6
Wednesday's Free NBA Pick is on the Chicago Bulls as a 6-point road underdog against the Utah Jazz. Utah is getting way too much respect from the books, but what's new. Jazz have gone just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games, losing outright 6 times during this stretch as a favorite. Bulls have had their struggles against the number as well, but a lot of that has come against better teams where they were getting too much respect. Chicago is as healthy as they have been in a while and should be extremely motivated after a very lackluster showing at Sacramento on Monday. Bet the Bulls +6!

                        NBA | Celtics vs Warriors

Play on: Warriors -2 -110 at BetVegas

FREE PICK: Golden State Warriors -2
                        RATING: 30*
                        ROT#: 548
I'll gladly take my chances with the Warriors as a slim 2-point home favorite against the Celtics. Golden State is a team you want to get behind right now, as the books haven't quite made the proper adjustments on this team with Draymond Green coming back.
The Warriors finally have their trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Green all healthy and in the lineup together. Green is arguably the most important of all of those, as there's just not many big guys who can impact the game the way he does on both side of the floor.
I not only think the Warriors are being way undervalued here at basically a pick'em, but I also think Boston is getting way too much respect right now. Celtics have been playing much better of late, but we have seen them fail to cover each of their last two games and just lose outright as a 7-point home favorite to the Mavs on Sunday. Give me the Warriors -2!

                          Play on: UNDER 221½ -110

ASA free play on UNDER 221.5 CELTICS @ WARRIORS - Boston is one of the slower paced teams in the NBA at 96.5 possessions per game which ranks them 24th. Golden State is 13th in pace of play at 98.5 possession per game. Since the All-Star Break both have played slower yet with the Warriors ranking 21st in pace and the Celtics 26th. Offensively both teams rank in the top half of the league in offensive efficiency with the Warriors 10th, Celtics 14th. But where both teams really excel is on the defensive end of the court where Golden State ranks 2nd in overall defensive efficiency allowing 1.063-points per possession and the Celtics 3rd at 1.064PPP. Boston has an answer for the Warriors defensively with the 2nd best FG% defense in the NBA allowing just 43.8% and the 4th best 3-point% defense allowing 33.8%. Boston and their opponents have totaled 220 or less points in 5 of their last eight games. Golden State is coming off two higher scoring games against the fast-paced Bucks and a Wizards team that doesn’t play defense. Prior to that they played two lower scoring games against Denver and the Clippers who are both similar to Boston. Boston is 9-14 Under when playing non-Conference games, Golden State is 11-14 Under in the same scenario.

                            NBA | Raptors vs Clippers

Play on: Raptors -1½ -110 at linepros

Wednesday NBA Free play. My selection is on Toronto minus the points over Los Angeles at 10:40 pm et on Wednesday.
We won with the Raptors in their double-digit win over the Lakers on Monday and we'll back them again in Los Angeles on Wednesday as they take on the Clippers. Toronto isn't giving up a lot of scoring opportunities right now, having held its last five opponents to 85, 84, 88, 78 and 87 field goal attempts. The Raps have limited five of their last seven opponents to fewer than 40 made field goals. On the flip side, they didn't shoot particularly well on Monday but still managed to score 114 points on 39 made field goals. Prior to that they had knocked down 41, 42 and 48 field goals over their last three games and I like the matchup here. I like the way they've been forcing the issue offensively, getting off 93+ FG attempts in five of their last six contests. Note that the Clippers have allowed 41+ made field goals in six of their last seven games, despite the pace not always being there. The only opponent over that stretch that didn't eclipse the 40 mark was Detroit. Should we see an uptick in terms of pace here (as I'm expecting given what I already mentioned about the Raptors), I believe the Clips will be in trouble. Note that the Clips have yielded the opposition an average of 41-of-90 shooting here at home this season. In the first meeting between these two teams this season, Toronto got off 96 FG attempts compared to L.A.'s 78 and won by eight points. While L.A. has made good on 40+ field goals in four straight games, I'm not convinced it will get enough opportunities to reach that mark here. I already mentioned the Raptors have done a nice job of limiting the pace of their opposition lately and on the season they've yielded opponents just 85 FG attempts on the road. Take Toronto.
