Saturday's MLB Free Pick: Boston Red Sox -142
I'll take my chances with the Red Sox as a slim -142 road favorite against the Cubs. Boston has to feel like they let one get away on Friday. They led 4-0 after 4 and wound up losing 5-6. Red Sox should be highly motivated to bounce back with a win, plus they got a big time edge on the mound.
Boston will send out Josh Winckowski, who has impressed in his first 4 big league starts. Winckowski has a 3.60 ERA and most of that damage came in his first outing. He's got a 2.12 ERA and 1.176 WHIP over his last 3 starts.
Cubs will counter with Alec Mills, who just made his first start of 2022 this past Tuesday. It did not go well. Mills only recorded 8 outs before getting pulled after giving up 5 runs on 6 hits (3 HR) with just 1 K. I look for Boston's lineup to feast today. Give me the Red Sox -142!

Off yesterday's 6-5 defeat, I'm going to suggest a second look at Boston on the moneyline tonight in this revenge spot. The starting pitching mismatch can't be ignored and justifies laying the road chalk here. Josh Winckowski is 3-1 with a 3.60 ERA for Boston, which is admittedly a small sample size. However his counterpart has been terrible, as Alec Mills is 0-1 with a 9.87 ERA for Chicago. If you don't mind laying mid-sized chalk, consider Boston on Saturday night!
