MLB | Giants vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Giants -176 at SC Consensus
My free play is on the SF Giants at 6:10 ET.
The San Francisco Giants finished with the best record in the majors last season (107-55, .660) while finishing one game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. However, the Giants are just three games over .500 (40-37) this season, 8 1/2-games behind the first place Dodgers and five games behind the second place Padres. Arizona joined the NL in 1998 and made the playoffs in THREE of the team's first five seasons (won 2001 World Series). However, since 2003, Arizona has missed the postseason in 16 of the last 19 years. The D'backs hit 'rock bottom' in 2021, earning the dreaded 'daily double,' as owners of MLB's worst record (52-110, .321) and its worst moneyline mark (-$3,941). The D'backs have been more competitive this season (35-44, .443) but welcome the Giants to Chase Field for this three-game series just 3-8 over their last 11 games. That said, the Giants 'limp' in having lost 10 of their last 13!
Carlos Rodon (7-4, 2.62 ERA) will make the first start of his career against Arizona on Monday evening, opposed by Madison Bumgarner (3-8, 3.63 ERA). Rodon was 13-5 (2.37 ERA) for the White Sox in 2021 (Chicago was 16-8 in his starts) but he then signed a two-year, $44 million contract with the Giants in March. Rodon was 4-1 (1.80 ERA) through his first six starts (team was 4-2) but he then suffered his LONE poor outing of the season on May 15, allowing eight ERs in 3.2 innings against the Cards. He has not allowed more than three ERs in any of his other 14 starts in 2022. He has been one of the few bright spots lately for San Francisco, having gone 3-0 with a 1.25 ERA in six June starts but with a lack of support, the Giants are only 3-3 in those starts. In fact, outside of his seven wins, the Gants have lost all EIGHT of his other starts.
Bumgarner was one of the cornerstones of a San Francisco team that won three World Series (2010, 2012, 2014) and was named the 2014 World Series MVP for the Giants, producing a legendary postseason ("You can look it up" as the saying goes!). Bumgarner has made 16 starts in 2022 with Arizona going 6-10, including losing SIX of his last seven (4.62 ERA). The Giants NEED to start winning again, and beating their former teammate is a good place to start.
Good luck...Larry
Play - NY Mets w/Walker vs Greene (Game 955).
Edges: Mets: Walker 2.72 ERA with 1.17 WHIP this season, with 27 Ks and 4 BBs in last four starts… Reds: Greene 3-12 with 5.72 ERA and 1.34 WHIP this season … … With that, look for the Mets to improve on their 17-7 mark in this series of late here tonight. We recommend a 1* play on the NY Mets. Thank you and good luck as always. *Note: All pitchers' records are team starts.

WNBA | Mercury vs Sparks
Play on: Mercury PK -110 at Mirage
One of the differences between the WNBA and NBA is it is extremely rare for a WNBA team to play on consecutive days. The Los Angeles Sparks haven't played without rest this season - until today.
The Sparks defeated New York, 84-74, at home Sunday and now face an improved Phoenix Mercury squad. This will be the Sparks' third game in four days. LA had four players that logged more than 32 minutes yesterday against the Liberty.
The Sparks have nine wins, same as Phoenix, and haven't won three in a row all year. LA likely won't have Kristi Toliver, who suffered a calf injury early in Sunday's game and didn't return.
The Mercury have underachieved given their talent level especially in the backcourt with Skylar Diggins-Smith, Diana Taurasi and Diamond DeShields. But Phoenix's chemistry may have changed for the better after the team released Tina Charles on June 25. Charles, a former WNBA MVP, had signed with the Mercury in February. Her production was down and so were her minutes.
Since Charles' departure, the Mercury have gone 3-1 SU and ATS with their only loss coming to defending champion Chicago, which has the best record in the league at 15-5.
Note, too, that the Mercury beat the Sparks, 81-74, in Phoenix on June 5 during the previous meeting. Charles did not play in that game.
