Tuesday 10/11/22 Free Plays / Trends / Betting Info / Etc
My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Tuesday afternoon is with the Atlanta Braves with the money-line versus the Philadelphia Phillies listing both starting pitchers Max Fried and Ranger Suarez. Atlanta (101-61) hosts the first two games of this National League Divisional Series at Truist Park where they have won 36 of their last 51 games. In winning the World Series last year, the Braves won 11 of their last 15 games in the playoffs. Philadelphia (89-75) advanced to the NLDS with their 2-0 win at St. Louis on Saturday. The Phillies stay on the road where they have lost 13 of their last 19 road games with the Total set in the 7-8.5 range. They have also lost 6 of their last 8 games when listed as a money-line underdog from +175 to +250. Take Atlanta with the money-line listing both starting pitchers. Best of luck — Frank.

Race 1: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (5) SOHO CHELSEA A finally paid some dividends from that $40K claim a couple of months back with a hard-earned win. Veteran is classy enough to repeat against a bit better and the price should be decent with his inside rivals attracting plenty of attention. (2) SANTAFE'S COACH was outfinished chasing a rated pace last out but the Lachance trainee can always be counted on for a share from spots such as this. (3) ROCKINMYSHOE was much better in his second local start. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 2-4YO NW2 races or $28,229 lifetime Pace (2) ROCKYTOP OH OH went on a major speed mission last week and ran out of steam late. That could have him tighter for his second local start. (4) RB is hard to gauge but his two races at Northville are definitely competitive time-wise. (1) AUSSIE HANOVER is just 1 for 19 lifetime which doesn't inspire much confidence on top but he should be in line for a good trip; Brennan drives again. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) PRETTY HANDSOME woke up two back with a solid second-place finish and he faces softer here from a good post; top billing. (1) PYRO hasn't been at his sharpest recently but he was used hard early on last week; Dube will likely be cutting this mile and if so he's more than capable of hanging on. (4) GENIUS MAN enjoyed a live trip and pulled off the upset last week; he's capable of repeating with a similar setup. Race 4: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace It pains me to default to (4) ITS MESMERISE N because of the barn change to Dowse but it's a live angle in a race where it's hard to make a serious case for anyone else. (2) CHUPPAH ON dropped to this level last week and fired to the top from the eight hole but came up flat late; mare will be a player again. (6) LAURIE LEE failed as the chalk last out but she will be a better price tonight and can be a late threat. Race 5: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) FIZZING N had no real excuse to falter in the late stages last week but he gets a chance to redeem himself tonight. (3) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES was claimed last out by DiDomenico and drops into a softer spot tonight; don't expect long odds like the morning line suggests. (4) ROCKIN JUKEBOX sat pocketed to the top one last week and also had no excuse; hard to endorse on top but at least the leading driver gets in the bike tonight. Race 6: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace (3) DP REALORDEAL has been razor-sharp since arriving from Indiana and he gets away from BB Lucky Boy tonight, who schooled him in two straight. His time to shine tonight. (4) BETTOR ROLL ON A rolled right past the tired leader in a nice U.S. debut and he can have more to offer. (1) LENDA HAND MAN returns locally for Jenn Bongiorno and Joe is back driving; 3YO has been good recently. Race 7: NW8991 in last 5 starts Pace (3) HUGHIE JUNIOR N cruised versus similar last out at Freehold with Siegelman driving and he gets the call again on the Harris trainee. (2) SHANWAY N gets both class and post relief which makes him an obvious player. (4) FULLBACK was a peculiar claim in my opinion two back for the Dowse barn and he broke with the trainer in the bike first out. Bartlett drives tonight and we'll see if he goes forward. Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 8: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace (5) VELOCITY MCSWEETS basically toured the track last week but the Travis Alexander trainee had been showing good early speed in all prior efforts and looks like a good spot for Kakaley to get aggressive off the gate. (1) MILLWOOD BONNIE N goes second-time out for DiDomenico and lands in a very live spot. (3) PAIGE'S GIRL put in a good effort at a price last out and just missed; Lance Hudson trainee looks like a contender. Race 9: NW22876 in last 5 starts Pace Tough race in the finale. (2) WESTERN JOE comes in off a sick scratch and missed three weeks overall but he is clearly classiest and the good draw gives Marohn options. It would be no surprise to see the millionaire show up with a live effort. (3) ALWAYS AND AGAIN had to back off to a three hole last week and was not heard from again; if Bartlett gets an easy lead he could be trouble. (6) WINDSUN RICKY is a longshot with some speed and an aggressive driver in Holland.

Tuesday’s Horse Racing Tips: Leicester, October 11th
Stephen Harris Horse Racing Expert
Today’s Horse Racing Tips – October 11th
There are 5 meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with jumping beginning to dominate as the Autumn weather arrives. Hereford, Huntingdon and Punchestown stage the three jumps fixtures, while for flat fans there is some low grade action from Leicester and Newcastle (AW).
Today’s Daily Nap
Romantic Sunlight
Leicester 3:05 (UK time)
William Stone’s filly had been progressing nicely until failing to stay 1m1f at Wolverhampton last time out under an overly forceful ride, and she can bounce back to her best at Leicester on Tuesday. She has Hollie Doyle taking over in the saddle, and ran really well over seven furlongs here in July on fast ground (finishing strongly to take second behind Kiss and Cuddle).
Odds: NA
Today’s Value Angle
Sea of Charm
Leicester 1:55 (UK time)
Harry Dunlop’s filly has only won 1 of her 21 career starts, often looking a tricky ride and taking a while to get motivated, but she has been running really well in defeat recently and
the long Leicester straight should play to her strengths. She has the assistance of the promising apprentice Rose Dawes in the saddle, and can pick these off late with the likelihood
of a very strong pace to aim at (usually get racing too far out in these contests).
Odds: NA

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 11.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Newcastle, Echuca and Goulburn.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 8 @ 5:50 PM
SO DAZZLING (13) returns to Sydney after she broke her maiden with a determined win over 1800m at Flemington on September 18. Destined for better things and look for her motoring late. MIRACLE SPIN (7) is improving with racing and was doing his best work on the line when fourth over 1500m at Goulburn on September 23. Capable of taking a hand in the finish. SKY ACE (2) is starting to hit his straps now he's jumped out in trip. This tougher but latest runs have been full of merit.
SELECTIONS: So Dazzling to repeat the dose.
ECHUCA: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM
INSURGENCE (3) switched from a top Sydney barn and first-up was only beaten 2L at Benalla for the new barn. The NSW provincial form prior stacks right up and he will take beating. NO RAIN NO FLOWERS (9) is speedy and has been threatening. Draws low and will give a sight. BATTLE TALENT (1) resumes and is a stablemate to the top selection. Is likely to have come on and keep safe. KING OF SWING (4) also resumes and draws the rail. Has shown enough to consider.
SELECTIONS: Backing Insurgence to win.
GOULBURN: RACE 2 @ 2:25 PM
GREAT WEEK (7) will come over to the speed and improved again beaten 1.2L at Goulburn at 1500m. The one to beat on that effort. Tipping he'll manage a wet surface. MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN (3) belted home to place second at Canberra first up in heavy conditions. The longer trip suits. He'll have to fan wide again on turning but fitter looks capable of finishing over them. GUARD (8) just missed the placings on the Moruya heavy running his best race. Owen sticking is a plus and he's in the mix at odds given a good ride, LITTLE MIST (9) is an improver from the Olive barn and should get the run of the race. Has the winkers applied first time. CHILEAN EXPRESS (5) will be gassed over to the speed and the 2kg claim assists. On a 7-day return and always puts in.
SELECTIONS: Backing Great Week to win.

Echuca Racecourse is the host of the standalone Victorian race-card for Tuesday. We are currently rated on a Soft 6 track, with near p[erfect drying conditions forecast in the lead-up to race-day. The rail is set in the true position, so it’ll be more about the testing conditions than any kind of on speed or swooping bias.
The first race is scheduled to kick us off at 1:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Echuca: Amabutho
This is the day for Amabutho. This gelding by Zululand comes here ready to peak third-up after running into some quality horses and tragic barrier draws. First-up he was defeated by Artzino at Sandown over 1500m on September 7 by 6.2 lengths, however this form doesn’t look as bad at second glance. Artzino was then second behind now Victoria Derby favourite Mr Maestro since, while our galloper drew a horrible barrier last start in maiden company at Geelong. It was a total forgive and finally gets to a suitable trip. The 2100m here looks perfect and the conditions will suit Amabutho very nicely, particularly from barrier-two. Alana Kelly will not let our boy get too far out of his ground on this occasion and look to get the leaders-back throughout, Amabutho should get every chance to break his maiden status for the Patrick Kearney team.

Next Best Bet at Echuca: Love School
Our each-way play on the card comes in the form of Love School. This mare by All American has been unfortunate to miss the winner’s enclosure so far in her four starts, finding the frame in three of those runs. She comes here first-up for the Lee & Shannon Hope stable and has been well found in the market for her previous assignments, starting price profile of $2.80, $2.10, and $5 with online Bookmakers indicates to us that this mare hasn’t been too far off the mark, and the fact we’re getting $5 and better in some places is absurd to us. Love School comes off a 149-day spell and a fantastic effort at Bendigo on a bottomless heavy 10 track. Conditions should improve as the day goes on, as should the chances for Tahlia Hope’s mount, and with a more tactical ride than what she received last time, Love School looks over the odds come Tuesday afternoon.

Newcastle racecourse will host an eight-race provincial program on Tuesday afternoon. The track is currently rated a Heavy 9 after New South Wales have copped a deluge of rain over the last week. The rail will be in the 7m position for the entire circuit when the first race kicks off at 1:35pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Newcastle – So Dazzling
Our best bet of the day will come up in the lucky last, as we will be siding with the John Sargent-trained So Dazzling over 1880m. This lightly raced three-year-old filly has only had two starts for her career where she has finished fifth and first, with her only win coming at Flemington over 1800m in the Oaks Preview on September 18. After winning that race, this daughter of So You Think has punched her ticket into the VRC Oaks during the Victorian Spring Carnival. William Pike will take the ride on this girl today where she is dropping in grade from a Set Weights metropolitan race to a provincial Benchmark 64. If she gets any luck in running from barrier 15, she will be very, very hard to beat.
Best Bet
Race 8 – Silk #13 So Dazzling (15)
3yo Filly | T: John Sargent | J: William Pike (56.5kg)

Next Best at Newcastle – Floating
The Matthew Smith-trained Floating will be our next best bet in race six over 1300m. This four-year-old gelding really caught the eye with a very nice second behind Sir Kerm at this track over 1200m on a Heavy 9 on September 24. This son of Puissance De Lune will love the rain-affected track on Tuesday with the track rated a Heavy 9 and he will definitely relish the extra distance that he receives going up to the 1300m. Keagan Latham will stick with this guy where he will be go back from his wide draw, barrier 19. Look for him to flying home late and powering over the top of them in the concluding stages.
Next Best
Race 6 – Silk #4 Floating (19)
4yo Gelding | T: Matthew Smith | J: Keagan Latham (59kg)

Best Value at Newcastle – Centre Bounce
Our best value bet comes up in the second race of the day where the Matthew Dunn-trained Centre Bounce will debut over 900m. This three-year-old filly has had plenty of trials to further her education, with the trials ranging from 796m to 1030m. Her last trial over 1030m at Rosehill on October 4 was her best trial by far, leading from start to finish. This daughter of Star Turn led easily in that trial, Reagan Bayliss gave her a squeeze and loosened the reigns and she lengthened nicely to win the trial by half a length. Bayliss jumps back on board again today, so hopefully from barrier two she should jump and lead and be very hard to get past.
Best Value
Race 2 – Silk #8 Centre Bounce (2)
