Bet the Ravens (-5.5) as a short road favorite against the Giants in Sunday's NFL action. It's been a dream start to the 2022 season for the Giants, who are 4-1 thru the first 5 weeks of the season. You have to give this team props for their record, but you also have to realize it's probably not sustainable. The Giants could just as easily be 1-4. They have a 1-point win over the Titans (21-20), a 3-point win over the Panthers and had to rally from way down in their upset of the Packers in London. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore offense is the best offense the Giants have faced this year by a landslide and I don't see them keeping up. Play the Ravens -5.5!

Mike Lundin's 49ers vs Falcons NFL Free Pick

I rate the Niners as one of the best teams in the NFL and would not be surprised to see them in the Super Bowl, but with the Chiefs on deck next week this looks like a potential flat spot.
The Falcons are 2-3 on the season and their three losses came by one, four and most recently six points (at Tampa Bay).
The Falcons have struggled against the pass, but they are good against the run and are also capable of running the ball themselves. I think the Niners will find it difficult to get separation.

                      Brandon Lee

I will take my chances with New England catching 2.5-points on the road against the Browns. I cashed on the Patriots last week as a mere 3-point home favorite in a 29-0 blowout win over the Lions. I said in the analysis of that pick that I thought NE wasn't anywhere close to as bad as their 1-3 record was leading some to believe. Pats had a brutal 4-game stretch to start the year, having to play 3 road games at Miami, Pittsburgh and Green Bay and the lone home game coming against the Ravens. They hung right with Baltimore and lost in OT to the Packers. Even after their impressive win over the Lions, that's not a win that's going to have people running to back this team. It's why I think there is still value with this team right now.

I certainly like them in this matchup against the Browns. Cleveland to me is one of the more overrated teams in the NFL. There's a lot of big names on this Browns roster, but truth of the matter is they just aren't very good. The offense is limited with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback and the defense isn't playing anywhere close to what was expected of them. Cleveland comes into this game giving up 25.0 ppg and 6.2 yards/play and that's against opponents who average are scoring just 21.0 ppg and averaging 5.5 yards/play. If it wasn't for Nick Chubb, who knows where this team would be. Name me a better coach that can put together a game plan to stop, or at least limit, the opposing team's best player than Bill Belichick. Belichick also has a ton of familiarity with Brissett, having drafted him back in 2016.

I also want to point out that I got faith in Bailey Zappe if he has start at quarterback for New England in this game. With that said, I think there's a good chance starter Mac Jones returns. He had hoped to play last week against the Lions, but after being limited in practice all week he just wasn't quite ready to play. He's dealing with an ankle injury, so that extra week after feeling like it was close should be enough to get him back on the field.

                      Give me the Patriots +2.5

Sunday NFL Free play. My selection is on New York plus the points over Green Bay at 1 pm et on Sunday.

While this would usually be a 'get right' spot for the Packers, returning home from London off an upset loss to the Giants, I'm just not convinced they have the personnel in place to beat anyone by margin right now. The Jets are worthy of some respect at this point as they've reeled off consecutive wins, showing promise on both sides of the football. This game sets up particularly well for New York's backfield led by rookie RB Breece Hall. The Packers are yielding 5.1 yards per rush this season, clearing a path for the Jets to pound the football and effectively shorten this game. While the Jets defensive numbers aren't going to turn heads, they certainly pass the 'eye test'. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more milquetoast passing game than that of the Packers. That's not to mention the fact that Green Bay's vaunted 1-2 backfield punch of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon hasn't come close to living up to expectations. Note that while the Packers do come off a loss last Sunday, they've still won three of their last four contests SU. That doesn't actually bode well for potential pointspread success here as they've gone 4-9 ATS the last 13 times they've been in that situation. Take New York.

                          1* on Bucs/Steelers OVER 46

The Key: The Pittsburgh Steelers are a mash unit on defense right now. They are without arguably the best defensive player in the NFL in TJ Watt. Their entire secondary is out with CB Witherspoon, CB Sutton, CB Wallace, S Fitzpatrick and S Joseph all sidelined. The Bucs also have some key defensive injuries with S Ryan, CB Murphy-Bunting and DT Hicks all out. The Bucs are as healthy as they have been all season on offense and have broken through the past 2 weeks. They will have their way with this depleted Pittsburgh defense that just yielded 38 points and 552 yards to the Bills last week. The Steelers are starting to form chemistry on offense with rookie QB Kenny Pickett. He threw for 310 yards on the Bills last week, but it didn't result in points. Look for the Steelers to finally start turning some of their scoring opportunities into points this week as they try and keep up with the Bucs in a shootout. Take the OVER.

The Atlanta Falcons are a perfect 5-0 ATS this season with all five games being decided by 6 points or less, including four by 4 points or fewer. They will hang with the San Francisco 49ers, who will be playing their second consecutive game out East and this is a tough spot for them. Injuries are starting to add up for the 49ers. They will be without two of their best defensive linemen in Armstead and Kinlaw, plus Bosa is questionable. They are also without DB Ward and CB Mosely on the defensive side. The Falcons love to run the football as they average 164.6 yards per game on the ground. The 49ers are compromised on defense, especially against the run missing those linemen. The Falcons will have continued success on the ground this week. Give me the Falcons.

This is a play on the MIAMI DOLPHINS-3 for our Sunday Free Play.

Miami has dropped two straight games after a 3-0 start but it has been put in some tough spots. The loss at Cincinnati came after that game against the Bills where the defense was on the field all day and had to play on a short week and then last week against the Jets was the third straight game where the backup quarterback had to come in after an injury to the starter. Tua has cleared concussion protocol but will not play this week as it will be Skylar Thompson once again who came in last week for Teddy Bridgewater and did pretty good but the points did not come and the defense did not allow even a chance. Thompson now has a full week of practice under his belt for this game and will be facing a below average defense. Minnesota is 4-1 but the last three wins came against Detroit, New Orleans and Chicago which is not saying much and those were all one-possession wins while the other victory came against Green Bay and the Packers clearly are not right. This is just the Vikings second true road game and while the Miami heat in October is not quite as intense, it is still going to be very warm with 90 percent humidity and the purple uniforms will not help out. This is a very good offense that will be facing a defense that was just lit up by the Jets but in two home games, the Dolphins have allowed only 26 points that includes 19 against Buffalo which is impressive. Here, we play on underdogs or pickems with a winning percentage between .501 and .600 off an upset loss as a road favorite. This situation is 42-15 ATS (73.7 percent) since 1983. Play (264) Miami Dolphins

#251/252 ASA FREE PLAY ON Under 46 Points – Tampa Bay Bucs vs Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday at 1 PM ET -

Both offenses are struggling this season and we don’t see a turnaround in this game. TB is averaging only 20 PPG and their 5.3 YPP gained ranks them 20th in the NFL. The Bucs have been held to 21 points or less in every game but one this season. Last week they put up just 21 points on an Atlanta defense that ranks 27th in total defense and 29th in pass defense. They have scored 10 offensive TD’s in their 5 games this season. The Pittsburgh offense has been a disaster. They rank 28th in total yards and 30th in scoring. They are averaging just 4.8 YPP and only 22% of their offensive possessions have reached the red zone, the 2nd worst mark in the NFL ahead of only Houston. The Steelers have only 2 passing TD’s the entire season! Rookie Kenny Pickett will continue to take his lumps this week after making his first start last week vs Buffalo. Pitt scored 3 points in that game and we don’t see much changing here as they face one of the best defenses in the league. If we take away their defensive TD’s, the Steeler offense has not topped 20 points in any game this season. TB ranks 4th in the NFL allowing only 4.7 YPP and they are giving up just 16 PPG. They have held 4 of their 5 opponents to 15 points or less with Kansas City being the only offense to top that number. We simply don’t see the Steelers have any success on offense. TB is favored by 10 here and we see them building a lead and grinding out the 2nd half with their defense. Same as last week when Buffalo jumped all over Pittsburgh 31-3 at half and the game still stayed Under with a 38-3 final score.
