              Sunday's Free NFL Pick: Bucs/Browns UNDER 42

I'll take my chances with the UNDER 42 in Sunday's non-conference matchup between the Bucs and Browns. This play is really based on the awful scoring conditions that these two teams will be forced to play in. There's a very high chance of rain during the game, but even more important is the wind. It's expected to be consistent winds around 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Both of these teams are going to be forced to run the football a lot. That's bad news for Tom Brady and the Bucs offense, as they are one of the worst in the league in that department. Tampa Bay comes in averaging just 71 ypg and 3.1 yards/carry on the ground and that's come against teams who on average are giving up 119 ypg and 4.4 yards/carry.

Yes, running the ball is something Cleveland is pretty good at with Chubb leading the way, but this Bucs defense is really strong up front and should have no problem keeping the Browns run game in order knowing that's what is coming. I just think we are going to see a lot of empty possessions that eat up clock. I wouldn't be surprised if both teams failed to hit the 20-point mark in this one. Give me the UNDER 42!

                Sunday’s FREE WINNER: Tennessee Titans.

                Game 260.
                10:00 AM PST/1:00 PM EST.

My friends a lot of sports is about momentum and streaks. Sports betting also has a lot to do with momentum and streak. And there is no team in the NFL running as hot as the Tennessee Titans. After a 0-2 start, they have now won seven of the last eight straight up and for our purposes more importantly, covered eight in a row. As a Sicilian I know a lot about revenge LOL. And Tennessee is looking for a bit of revenge against the Cincinnati team that ousted them from last years playoffs. Looking at the Bengals, they too have done well after a poor start. They kicked off the campaign dropping the first two contests. And have since gone 6-2 straight up, covering seven of those last eight. But I’m here to tell you the odds makers have the wrong favorite in this match up. The Titans should be at least a two or a 2.5-point point favorite here. They are playing in Tennessee. And the team comes in here having a few extra days to rest, heal, and prepare. Not only that, but in the Bengals last outing, a week ago on the road at the Steelers, guys it was a very physical game. I expect them to get very tired come the second half. Granted, I do believe Joe Burrow will have some success in the air here. But without an ample running attack to control the clock and keep the Titans defense on the field, I do feel they are at a disadvantage. Remember that Tennessee has one of the best running backs in the league in Derrick Henry, who will star in his own highlight reel in this matchup. Look for the Titans to utilize him to keep the Bengals defense honest and on the field. Tennessee is 6-2 ATS the last eight at home and 6-0 ATS the last six versus AFC opponents. Take the Titans. Thank you.

Sunday NFL Free play. My selection is on the 'over' between Denver and Carolina at 1 pm et on Sunday.

With the Broncos coming off six consecutive 'under' results and the Panthers fresh off back-to-back 'unders', it's no surprise that we're dealing with a very low posted total for this one. I believe it will prove too low. Neither defense has shown the ability to consistently bottle up opposing ground attacks. I actually like the release of RB Melvin Gordon for the Broncos as it opens up touches for Latavius Murray, who I feel has been their best looking back in a limited role this season. Meanwhile, the Panthers will turn to Sam Darnold as their QB carousel continues to turn. Darnold should at least provide an upgrade over P.J. Walker and Baker Mayfield and could give the entire team a (brief) spark on Sunday afternoon. It's easy to forget that the Panthers are just one game removed from a four-game stretch that saw them score 21, 34, 21 and 25 points. Take the over.

Jack's Free Pick Sunday: Los Angeles Chargers -2.5

The Los Angeles Chargers are still very much alive for a playoff spot sitting at 5-5 this season. Their five losses have come to the Chiefs (twice by 3), 49ers (by 6), Seahawks and Jaguars. So they have not won when they have stepped up in class, but they have handled their business against the rest of the NFL.
Now they take on a 4-7 Arizona Cardinals team that is pretty much dead when it comes to making the playoffs. The Cardinals have lost five of their last seven with their two wins coming against the lowly Saints in a game they were actually outgained by 168 yards, and over a banged up Rams team that looks like one of the worst in the NFL in their current state. This is a terrible spot for the Cardinals. They are coming off a Monday Night Football game in Mexico City in which the 49ers beat them up badly in a 38-10 loss. They looked like they quit defensively late in that game, and I don't see them getting back up off the mat on a short week. They haven't had their bye week yet so they will be extra tired this week. The Cardinals are one of the most injury-ravaged teams in the NFL. They are missing several key players along the offensive line and at receiver. They are expected to get Kyler Murray back this week, but he won't be 100%, and he won't be the dual-threat he usually is with a bum hamstring. I think his return is giving the Cardinals too much respect from bettors this week. It's not going to matter as he isn't that much of an upgrade from Colt McCoy, and Arizona still has one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Justin Herbert got his favorite receiver in Keenan Allen back last week and promptly had a big game against the Chiefs. He went 23-of-30 for 280 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Allen caught five balls for 94 yards in his return, and he makes all the difference for this offense. Josh Palmer also had a big game with eight receptions for 106 yards and two scores as Herbert is finding some chemistry with him. Austin Ekeler will have a field day against a Cardinals defense that has allowed at least 136 rushing yards in five of their last seven games coming in. The Cardinals are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games and have zero home-field advantage, especially with the way their season had unfolded. The Chargers have always been better on the road than at home. Los Angeles is 39-19-3 ATS in its last 61 road games. Arizona is 0-9 ATS in its last nine home games in the second half of the season. Bet the Chargers Sunday.
