Friday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' 10.5 between Cleveland and Chicago at 7:10 pm et on Friday.

With the White Sox coming off four consecutive 'over' results, we're working with a high posted total in the second game of this four-game series on Friday. I believe it will prove too high. The Guardians will give Xzavion Curry another turn in the rotation. His last two starts each lasted just three innings and we can probably anticipate more of the same on Friday. In those two previous outings, Curry allowed only one earned run on two hits. I don't have a lot of faith in the White Sox offense to produce against the Guardians pitching staff, similar to what we saw in last night's 6-3 defeat. Touki Toussaint will take the ball for Chicago. His four previous starts this season have totalled 6, 15, 3 and 6 runs. The Guardians bats came alive against White Sox ace Dylan Cease last night but I don't consider them the type of team that can produce sustained success at the dish. Note that the 'under' is 22-7 with Cleveland facing A.L. Central opponents this season and 38-25 against right-handed starting pitching. Take the under.

By trading their closer, David Robertson, to the Marlins for minor leaguers ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, the Mets have begun planting the white flag.

The Nationals have played better on the road with a 23-27 record and should not be this high of underdogs to an underachieving morale-challenged Mets squad that is 48-54.

Max Scherzer just turned 39. He isn't in his prime anymore, not to be feared. He's allowed four earned runs or more in four of his last five starts. He has a 4.20 ERA on the season.

MacKenzie Gore has faced the Mets twice this year. He's 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA in those games. He is coming off five scoreless innings against the Giants this past Sunday.

I see too much value on the Nationals to pass on this game.
