With an average class rating of 80 all signs say this is the one to beat. STUMPY - Many smart handicappers know speed is is key. This nice horse has credentials with a 78 avg stat. PICKS NOTES
#2 Sbagliatio I worry he's going to be overbet for the same reason I've got him on top -- he has never run a bad one and comes back fresh after the February run in which he was second to a future Grade II winner. Think this is his to lose.
#4 Safe Trip Home Might be a top-heavy race on the tote with these two, but I think one of these logical players will land it. This one goes second off the layoff after a decent Keeneland comeback, and he might still have some upside.
#6 Gatlinburg He has shown a little versatility in his running style, but I think he can probably try to utilize his pace with these while meeting a bunch who want to settle and finish a bit.
Race Summary Sbagliato was last seen behind American Turf champ Webslinger in a Gulfstream allowance, and it feels like something similar to that effort would probably put him right in the frame with these if he is ready to roll off the bench. Feeling optimistic.

Churchill Downs - Race #9
PICKS NOTES
#7 Icy Stare Down You could probably convince me that her form is just heading in the wrong direction, but there are a lot of races on her page that would make her tough in here, and even something like the two-back local run might be enough with these.
#8 Forever Home She has been landing underneath shares at a variety of class levels in this general vicinity, and she figures to be in a good spot turning for home -- from there it's whether she can punch on, which is not always a sure thing.
#10 Lunar Ice The recent Presque Isle form fits well enough here, and she has run well enough on the dirt in the past to think she might transfer some similar lines here. Late runner has some appeal but might not get the setup.
Race Summary Icy Stare Down might be worth a look on the track ahead of this, but she hasn't been in this easy and turned in a local work since the Keeneland clunker for almost three times this price.

Churchill Downs - Race #5
PICKS NOTES
#7 As One Does The form is all over the place, but I like that he moved forward off the flat Kentucky Downs comeback, and the longer trip might allow his kind of one-paced style to prove more effective.
#6 Utah Beach Think he's supposed to be tough in here off a couple runner-up finishes behind runaway winners, and there's a real chance he makes short work of these at a modest price.
#3 Sagittarius He showed some positional pace in the debut run and has a claim on this with any reasonable upside in the second career start. Obvious player.
Race Summary As One Does might have another move forward in him while stretching to nine furlongs, and I think it's pretty easy to provide him excuses for the three bad races on his page -- two running fresh at Kentucky Downs and the other at Del Mar last year before he went to the sidelines. Wonder if we're going to see what he's really made of today?
