PSP's Data Driven NFL Free Pick: Chargers+12.5 -105

At Professionalsportspicks we see a future where those handicapping sports without advanced analytics and data-driven strategies will be left behind.

Our data-driven picks use data integration, search and discovery, and knowledge management along with collaboration with our in-house handicappers. By isolating relevant trends, removing human bias, and targeting only lines with a positive expected value above a certain threshold, our data-driven picks promise to outperform any and all human competitors.

Our models suggest that the value is on the Los Angeles Chargers as a home underdog against Buffalo on Saturday. This seems like an opponent the Bills are likely to overlook after playing elite opponents three games in a row and with divisional rivals New England up next

Supporting trends: Bills are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 10.5 or greater.

#626 ASA FREE PLAY ON UConn -11 -109 over St Johns, Saturday at 8 PM ET - We really like this spot for the Huskies at home coming off a road loss earlier this week. UConn was favored by 8 @ Seton Hall on Wednesday and lost by 15 points making only 38% of their shots and 19% of their triples. It was a tough spot for the Huskies as they had beaten a very good Gonzaga team by 13 points on the west coast 5 days prior to taking on Seton Hall. The only other loss for the Huskies came by 4 points @ Kansas and they bounced back to roll over UNC by double digits after that loss. They have very solid top 100 wins vs Indiana, UNC, Texas, and Gonzaga all by double digits. St John’s has been solid this year with an 8-3 record under new HC Rick Pitino but they are walking into a hornet’s nest here. The Red Storm haven’t been away from home in over 20 days and they’ve played only 1 true road game this season. UConn has won 25 of their last 27 home games and this team ranks in the top 20 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. They are also one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the nation (7th) which should give them some extra opportunities vs STJ who ranks 278th in defensive rebounding. UConn is 6-0 at home winning by an average score of 94-60 and we like them to take care of a transition St John’s team with nearly all transfers in their rotation. Lay it.

            Chargers +12.5 -105

My courtesy play for Saturday is on the Bills v. Chargers. The Bills (8-6, 6-8 ATS, 2-4 AWAY) will be visiting the Los Angeles Chargers (5-9, 5-9 ATS, 2-5 HOME). The game is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium and will be broadcast on Peacock. I know what you're thinking. Buffalo has won 3 out of 4, winning by an average margin of 16.7 PPG and I want you to grab the points? I'm leaning towards taking the points in this game mainly because I think the Bills might be in a bit of a letdown spot. They've been working hard for what feels like eight weeks straight, and now they know they have an easier game coming up. It's natural to let their guard down a bit for this one while still aiming for a win. We also get the "New Coach Kickback" here, with a team "hopefully" responding to new words from the man leading the team. Giff Smith. Reports are the players are "excited" to play for him, they know he cares, and they know the Chargers matter to him. He's been with the club a while. That can't be a bad thing. He's just keeping the seat warm for Bill Belichick though...right? Meanwhile, this Chargers team is catching Buffalo at a time when they might be a bit mentally drained after three tough matchups against the Eagles, Chiefs, and Cowboys. While I'm by no means saying Easton Stick (some guy I hadn't heard of until this year) is in the Josh Allen category he didn't flat-out suck last week vs. the Raiders. He went 23/32 for 257 and 3 TD's, so there's a player in there. We just need them to keep this respectable on Sat. and we get the cover. Trends, BUF are 3-7 ATS L10, and 1-4 ATS L5 vs. LAC. Plus BUF is 1-4 SU L5 vs. LAC. The kicker! BUF are 0-6 SU L6 when playing on the road vs. LAC. Chargers are 4-2 L6 DEC games. I'm grabbing the points. Give me the +12.5. You know what to do. Hop ON! Good Luck, Razor Ray.

                Free Play: San Jose State-8.5

Coastal Carolina/San Jose State 10:30: Hard to fade SJS tonight; after all, they finished strong with six straight wins. And their record setting QB Cordeiro, who grew up in Honolulu, is excited to go back to his home state to play in this game. He won't have a few of his teammates - TE Mazotti and LT Carmona, but Spartans have enough offensive firepower to carry them here, including leading receiver Nash. Coastal Carolina, however, won't have their top QB Grayson McCall (transfer). When he wasn't at the helm of the offense, the Chanticleers struggled. Vasko is not bad but not the caliber of McCall. Both defenses are soft, especially vs the run. Bottom line, SJS has more offensive firepower and should pull away down the stretch.
