I am taking the Red Sox tonight to avoid the sweep at home. I have found several trends that says they will be the winner in tonights game. First, I have the Yankees as 4-18 SU since June 2006 as a dog vs a team that has lost at least their last two games. Also, I have the Red Sox as 23-7 SU since July 2007 as a favorite after a loss in which they were shut out in the last 6 innings. I also have a nice starter trend on the Red Sox's Lester that says he is 15-0 SU when he is a favorite and the previous starter pitched more than 112 pitches. Take the Red Sox at home for the win.

There is ridiculous value here with AJ Burnett behind the mound for the Yankees against a relatively bad Red Sox team. The only reason the Red Sox are favored is because it is a NY/Boston Sunday night game and the game is in Boston. If this game was in NY, the line would probably be -170 or -180 for NY. It should be illegal to make the #1 offense in the league an underdog with AJ Burnett on the mound against a team with a losing record. Let's be serious. Take New York.

Note: The Seattle Mariners have the makings of a very good baseball team at least as far as their pitching staff goes with good starting stats and good Bullpen Stats so far this year. The problem is they can't score runs and without doing that, any team is going to flounder. Floundering might be an understatement here as these guys have plated just 12 runs in this 8 game homestand and are striking the ball to the tune of .173. It should be no surprise that they have lost all 8 of these games here. They are especially having trouble verses righthanded pitching and have all year. Once again today Seattle will have the advantage with their starting thrower but perhaps not. LAA has good success with Southpaws and it has been their best batting posture over the last 10 play€ed. The Angels have also had much success playing these Mariners and they have as well when Santana has faced them. They will look to win their 6th straight time over the Mariners, are 14-6 here at this field and are 10-3 when Ervin has been the starting thrower. Ervin does like this park and has strong numbers here over his last 4 starts, a 1.59 ERA since the 2008 season in 4 starts. LAA Bats are starting to wake up now now and while I don't know how many runs it will take to win today, the liklihood is NOT MANY. My MLB Model has the Angels winning this contest 57.8% of the time and although that is usually not high enough for a 3 Unit play, it will be today because of the intangibles that we have.

Not much more you can say about the Rocky Starter as he is sifting through NL Batters like my Mom used to do with Flour. LAD Bullpen-ers continue to be iffy and the fact is, Colorado hits lefties very well and have for a very long time. That gives a very large advantage here today espcially with Kershaw not being in good form. Interesting to note for you Trenders that the Dodgers are 0-9 in their last 9 roles as a Dog. That may or may not be a fun stat but note€worthy in my opinion. Let's just No-Brainer this one..

This series has now gone 4-0 O/U in Boston and we won't fade this trend today. LeBron James got great support from his cast, including his backcourt mates: Parker, Williams, and West - who were almost nonexistent in Game 2 at Cleveland. Today, we'll look for more balanced scoring from the Cavaliers as the Celtics are having trouble guarding the multitude of scoring options when LeBron James is on his game. As for Boston, we'll look for them to step up offensive production getting Pierce and Allen more involved. The Celtics are 5-1 O/U after a SU loss and 7-2 O/U in their last 9 at home. The Cavaliers are 17-7-1 O/U after scoring 100 in their previous game, and sport a 27-5-3 O/U mark as a small road favorite. "Over" it is.

It is clear that the Yankees have Boston's number. They have won 4 straight at Fenway and 13 of the last 16 meetings overall. Defense and pitcher was supposed to be the strength of the Red Sox this season and both have failed them in the early going. New York is 21-8 because of good pitching and the bottom of the order, which has carried the team early on. The bad news for Boston is that Mark Teixeira and the top of the order got going yesterday. In addition, Burnett has been nothing short of brilliant with his 4-0 mark and 1.99 ERA. I must also note that the Red Sox are 0-5 in their last 5 games after losing the first 2 games of a series. Take the Yanks.
