The Blue Jays knocked off Jered Weaver and Dan Haren over the last two days, as Toronto heads out west for a three-game set with Seattle. The Mariners are feeling good about themselves after taking the last two from the Red Sox. Michael Pineda takes the hill for the M's, as Seattle has lost four of Pineda's last five starts. The tall righty was knocked around the last time he faced the Jays in Toronto, as the M's lost that contest in extra innings. Rookie Henderson Alvarez makes his second start for the Jays, coming off a no-decision in a win over the A's. Alvarez got out of several jams while allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. Toronto has been great this season as an underdog against teams off consecutive wins, owning a 13-6 record. I'll take the Jays here to beat the M's.
Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels
Play: Texas Rangers
Texas continues to find ways to win. They are 69-52, 4 games ahead of a 2nd place LA team and can put some distance between them in this series. The Ranger's have won 3 in a row and 8 of their L10. Their lineup is posting 5.14 RPG, a .277 BA, 140 HR's, and 106 SB's. Today, they have Alexi Ogando on the bump. The RH is 11-5 on the season, including a 2-0, 0.63 record in 14.1 IP against LA this season. He faces an Angel's club that has dropped their L2 games, while splitting their L10. C, Jeff Mathis is questionable today with a hand in jury. Los Angeles has had a ton of problems scoring this year, averaging 3.8 RPG. Garrett Richards gets the start here. The RH has only pitched 5.0 innings this season, going 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA. The Ranger's are 10-1 their L11 as a road favorite, 17-4 their L21 vs. the AL West, and 10-4 in Ogando's L14 starts as a favorite. The Angel's are 1-5 their L6 as a home 'dog, 1-4 their L5 overall, and 2-6 their L8 home games vs. teams with a winning road record. Take Texas.
