It's My favorite of the series. Ivan Drago is without a doubt the best "villain" of any of those movies. We didn't know enough about Apollo Creed in the first movie to make him a villain so much as Rocky was the up and coming hungry fighter getting a shot at gold. Apollo's intentions are good enough in the second movie to dismiss him as a true heel rather than a competitor at heart who can't take not knowing whether or not he's really the best. Clubber Lang, while flashy, was really just a challenger rather than a villain. The only instances where Lang isn't just a more boisterous version of Balboa from the first two movies is when he shoves Mickey on the stairs. Tommy Gunn was just a stupid character. Drago not only killed Apollo but intentionally looked to hurt Apollo, which forced Rocky to step up after the fact. -
Dude, you should run, not walk, watch that shit, and report back.
It has some really classic scenes and montages. Apollo's speech in Rocky's living room about getting old, the Apollo/Drago sequence, and the Rocky Training Naturally / Drago Training Scientifically montage are all awesome.Leave a comment:

You ready for this?
Never actually seen Rocky IV. Know the plot, seen montages, etc, never actually watched the movie. Or 5 or 6, for that matter. I'm not really sure I've seen the 2nd one, either, in it's entirety, at least.Leave a comment:

I remember seeing Rocky V in the theater with my dad all those many years ago. I think at the time I thought it was a good movie.
I actually haven't seen it in years. But I remember enough about it to not really want to watch it again. I probably should though so that I can be a better participant in conversations on the subject.Leave a comment:

If I had to rank them in terms of what was actually the best movie: 1,2,6,3,4,5
If I rank them in terms of what I enjoy(ed) the most: 3,4,2,1,6,5
Rocky V is really the only completely irredeemable piece of shit in the whole saga. I mean, it really is shit. Even when I saw that thing in 8th grade in the theater, I was like "why is rocky's son suddenly a teenager?" And why the didn't Tommy Gunn just inject Rocky with AIDS to go with his dementia?
That said, there are some pretty quotable cheeserific lines in Rocky V. I have used "cmon punk, touch me and I'll sue. Touch me and III'lllll sue" at least a hundred times. Also, my ring's outside. That line holds up to the test of time.Leave a comment:

Just like it was made with the hand of God. . .
I would really need to go back and watch them all to rank them definitively, but off the top of my head I'd probably go:
I
IV
II
III
VI
V
Rocky V is the only one that I just don't have an interest in ever watching again. IV really should maybe be at the top of my list because it might be the one that I ENJOY the most. But I recognize what a good movie the first one is.Leave a comment:

Rocky III is my all time fave. But Rocky IV predicted the future. 2 white guys as the 2 best HW boxers, russians?

it is all factual.Leave a comment:

I agree. That IS the question.
Apparently a lot of people don't like Rocky IV. I don't know why not.
It's not the most dramatically credible film in the franchise, but it is the most fun.Leave a comment:

Im with ya on that, but say in this instance, dude gets dropped and smacks his head on the concrete, and dies. You think that family isnt gonna sue the fuck out of the city when a cop was standing right there watching? Especially when the lawyers find out this guy trains UFC.I tend to think that if two people want to fight then they should be allowed to do so without legal repercussions as long as they don't put anyone else at risk and the fight is handled responsibly, i.e. stopping when you've clearly won and not doing shit designed to maim a person, like gouging their eyes.Leave a comment:

Right, but fighting on the sidewalk, smashing into store fronts? What happens when they spill into traffic? It's ridiculous.I tend to think that if two people want to fight then they should be allowed to do so without legal repercussions as long as they don't put anyone else at risk and the fight is handled responsibly, i.e. stopping when you've clearly won and not doing shit designed to maim a person, like gouging their eyes.
As for Phoenix Jones, I'm sure he's trying to do something that he believes is right and trying to do it the best way he knows how. Props.
According to the Wiki article, he is Caros Fodor's brother. How does that work?
And I think he's Fodor's adopted brother or something. Also, I always enjoy untrained idiots getting crushed with leg kicks.Leave a comment:

I admire what he is doing, but he will get killed doing this shit. Im surprised about that mutual combat state shit. seems like an opening for a lawsuit when you get your ass kicked and sue because the cops didnt step in sooner.

Mutual combat, really? That means you can just fight in the street? This has got to be the most preposterous thing ever.
I mean, ok, I can see it being used for unsanctioned fights in a ring or cage or whatever, but dispute settlement? On public streets?Last edited by zY|; 11-13-2012, 06:11 PM.Leave a comment:
