What do you guys think about "True Blood" on HBO? I have been watching it... it is mildly entertaining, kitschy on purpose, but sort of growing on me. It is no Dexter or GoT, but it is passing the time.
I still need to watch "The Wire", but I feel like it is the last great series that I have not yet seen... so I am sort of saving it.2012: +19.33

I watched Breaking Bad up through Season 4... I am going to wait for the next season to start on that. I like it pretty well, not my all time favorite, but probably top 10 for me. After I finished that, I was looking for something new to start, and I generally like to watch things that are almost wrapped up, with at least 3 or 4 seasons already completed. So I started True Blood, I didn't like it at first, but it growing on me. Again, it is not in the same league as a show like GoT or Dexter or The Sopranos, but it is sort of interesting I guess. I am about to finish Season 2, and I might just quit it at this point. Wondered if it gets better or if this is pretty much how it goes.
IMO, GoT will go down as the best show ever made.
I also have been watching bits and pieces on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That is a funny show.Last edited by MMA_scientist; 08-16-2012, 12:12 PM.2012: +19.33

GoT
Dexter
Sopranos
Lost
Those are my solid top 4 in no particular order. After that, it gets murkier... I am not including comedies here. Because I judge them on a completely different standard.
I also enjoyed Rome, Weeds, Breaking Bad... I guess that is about it as far as dramas go. I havent seen much else that I liked a lot.2012: +19.33

Honestly, TV has gotten so much better in the last 10 years, that pretty much all the best shows have come out in the last decade IMO. There is some stuff that is nice for historical context, but other than that... no, there is nothing worth watching.2012: +19.33

Hmm, I see. . .
If I had to do a top 5 off the top of my head, it would go something like (in no particular order):
Spartacus (seasons 1 and 1.5, not so much season 2)
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Dexter
Homeland
But with that said, there are several shows that have been critically acclaimed that I either haven't seen or have only seen one or two episodes, including The Sopranos, Lost, Deadwood, The Wire and 24.I heart cockComment

I saw Twin Peaks, I really like Twilight Zone type stuff, but I was alive when Twin Peaks originally aired... so I already knew the ending and it ruined everything for me (unlike Lost, which also had a terrible ending, but I enjoyed the ride right up until the massive failure at the end... had I known it was coming, Lost would have been similar to Twin Peaks).
And I have thus far avoided being spoiled on the Lost ending. So don't fuck that one up for me, either.
This is kind of the impression that I have gotten.I heart cockComment
