Honestly the best part of Grindhouse was the Machete trailer. I wasn't really a fan. And Death Proof was pretty weak, aside from this scene(which is pretty much the most insane crash sequence ever put to film)

I liked Resevoir Dogs a lot when I saw it. I actually preferred to Pulp Fiction after I saw it (in like 1996). It is now #3 on the QT list for me (behind Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds). I did not care for Kill Bill. I didn't even bother to see Grindhouse/Deathproof/Planet Terror because I know I would not like.

Why didn't you like Kill Bill? I find it difficult that a martial artist could not appreciate that movie.

Also, QT only directed one segment of Four Rooms, so I don't really think it should be on a list of "QT films."

I don't know. It was too over the top. I get that it had this western/anime type feel. But I don't really like either of those things on its own, so combining them just doesn't do it for me. It was just too cartoonish... I get that it was supposed to be, but I just don't like action movies that much. It was just one over the top action sequence after another.

I actually don't like "martial arts" movies very much. I only like them for nostalgia. Modern martial arts movies just have too much acrobatics, cgi, wires, etc. But even without it, I don't like the genre very much. You have seen one flying flip kick, you've seen em all.

While to some extent I agree, I think that the best martial arts movies are also driven by a great story. Take Crouching Tiger, for instance. It's foundation is built not only upon the choreography, but also the story and excellent performances.

yeah, I liked Crouching Tiger. I also liked "Hero" pretty well. I guess it just depends on the movie.

I think that the stuff coming out of Asia typically takes itself more seriously in the way they treat the narrative martial of their martial arts films. Here in the US, the focus is typically on the action. With that said, I still liked Ninja Assassin and Blood and Bone.

I thought Bastards was one of the best films ever made...And I really liked Kill Bill 2. but on the other hand, i actually thought Pulp Fiction was overrated.
