But you're right that that's probably not what Disney was hoping for and I'm a little surprised by it, too. I really did enjoy it, so in my opinion people are missing out.
One interesting thing to note that is that MOST movies don't recoup production and advertising costs during their theatrical run. Ticket sales are just one element. There's also DVD and PPV sales, TV rights, and merchandising (Prince of Persia lunchboxes in the house).
