I would not be surprised if Fedor finds a reason to not fight Overeem. I mean, why else would Brett Rogers have been fighting Overeem instead of Fedor? Rogers just lost to Fedor. He was not the #1 contender. Fedor was. And he's fighting Werdum.

No one really cares about Overeem's belt. The champion is Fedor. The top contender is Werdum. Overeem is on-deck.

I kind of doubt Fedor is going to retire after two fights, but I wouldn't blame him if he does. Actually, I'd like to see more great athletes go out closer to their peak. It just gets kind of sad to see them hanging around as mediocre performers, retiring and coming back... etc.

Because the art is predicated on evasion more than blocks. You generate more force in a punch when getting so much more room to wind up from near the waist like that. They don't often use thier arms for blocking but rely mostly on footwork for that.
