2010 Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
The only movie I have seen on your list was MK. I thought it was shit. But then again, I don't play video games and I didn't realize that many of those movies were based on video games. The last time I played a video game for more than 5 minutes, it was like 1991.
I watched a few mintutes of Hitman when it was on TBS a few weeks ago, but I don't like stupid shit, so I turned the channel.
When I was younger, I saw like every movie that came out. Now, I am more selective. I don't watch things that I know are going to suck. I have enjoyed like 4 movies in the past 2 years.

LOL sadly I've seen everything on that list but MK2 and Prince of Persia (yet). Doom was just godawful. Hitman was not terrible, but still pretty bad. Did you ever see Super Mario Bros? What an abomination.
Silent Hill was great. That movie scared the shit out of me just like the video game. Resident Evil was great simply because Milla Jojovich is megahot. I thought the first sequel was decent too but only because zombie movies rule. Plus Mike Epps is awesome.
Yeah, I saw SMB, but it was a long time ago. I remember liking it as a kid, but thinking that it didn't really seem like an SMB movie to me. I think it's because it was set in the real world and I wanted it to be set in the Mushroom Kingdom.
I saw Prince of Persia this past weekend and thought it was actually really good. Well-acted, decent plot, and lots of good action scenes. Thumbs up in my book.
Doom was a massive disappointment. They just fucked that shit up completely. It could've been so much more.
I thought the RE sequel just wasn't great. The plot was kind of incoherent and muddled and just . . . I dunno, I liked the first one and thought it was pretty decent, but the second was a disappointment for me.

You seem a little overly critical.
nah, I just have seen a lot of movies. I like different kinds of flicks, but I just don't appreciate stupid crap that wastes my time.
I am trying to recall my good movie experiences and bad ones in the last few years. I know I enjoyed:
Gran Torino & No Country for Old Men (maybe my favorite movie ever) were both good, Iron Man & Star Trek were good popcorn flicks... other than that, everything else I saw I think I was mostly meh. I saw IronMan 2 a few weeks ago, it was just sort of ok I guess. I didn't care for Avatar really.
I am starting to like quality small screen better than the movies. I like Dexter. I like the Sopranos. I have been just getting entire series on DVD and watching them. I like Entourage, Sons of Anarchy is pretty good for a basic cable show. I have been going back and getting other stuff too. I watched all of Oz, which was a mistake. I don't know why people think that is a good show. I thought it was horrible and it had a lot of man rape in it. It was pretty much gay prison porn with ridiculously improbably story lines.
I guess I am critical. We have had this conversation before though. Remember I also don't like McDonalds and Applebees.

Hey, does anyone remember which fight it was in which Fedor brought his priest into the ring with him during the post-fight interview? Was it against AA?

Do you happen to like sushi? just curious
I love sushi.
You didn't like No Country? How could you not like that movie? I just cannot understand that mentality. That movie was
A) bad ass
B) had a lot of interesting things to say about the human condition
C) gorgeous to look at

Not enough CG for you?
I thought No Country was just ok. I'm very very picky about movies too.I dont like stupid ones (hot tub time machine comes to mind) or unrealistic ones(ironman, harry potter, avatar, superman etc) .I also dont like slow ones.I'm more of an action movie ,drama, or suspense guy. Last movie I seen I really liked was Shutter Island
I thought you might like sushi as do I since you dont like regular restaurants mich either. I started really eating sushi about a year ago and now me and the lady are obsessed with it.The closest sushi place thats any good is 40 miles away so I started making it at home.I've got really good at making it and now we eat it 2-3 times a week at home. Whats your favorite rolls?
I like a spicy tuna roll, crunchy salmon roll, volcano roll and sunset blvd rolls the best.Rainbow rolls are also pretty good

my favorite roll is the bahama mama. BUt I like spicy tuna and thai rolls too. Really I will eat any and all of it. I get obsessed with it and eat it like 4 times a week sometimes. Luckily there are 4 or 5 good places within 5 miles of me.
I didn't care for Shutter Island. It was one of those, "okay, whats the trick" type things. You are just sitting through the movies waiting to find out what the lie is... then you are supposed to go OMG you mean he was IN the institution? BUt I was like, yeah, that is more or less what I thought, though not exactly.
I just like well told stories that have something to say. But if a movie is funny and interesting I will watch it, even if it is just a flick. I don't really care for action movies at all.
