2010 Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
Okay, just checked it out. First off, Michael Jai White is the FUCKING SHIT and there's just no two ways about that. He is a bad motherfucker. Period.
Second, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this trailer. It looks a little B-ish. Not that that's a bad thing for a martial arts film, but it really depends on the direction they go with it. When I watch the trailer, it doesn't scream MORTAL KOMBAT to me. Maybe some other concept, but not Mortal Kombat. But I would like to see some clips from the actual tournament in Outworld to really make that decision, though.
All in all, I hope this film gets made. (I agree that it doesn't look like a film that's already in the can.) If it does, I am pumped to see it.

Maybe thats why I thought it looked good. I've never even seen the mortal kombat movie because it didnt look like something I'd like but I thought this clip looked really good

SPX be honest, did you actually enjoy the mortal kombat movies or are you just excited because you remember the blood code from the Genesis?
LOL ZY
I did find this about the clip:
It turns out that our eyes weren't deceiving us yesterday, and Jeri Ryan really was playing Sonya Blade in that mysterious Mortal Kombat movie short. According to the former "Star Trek: Voyager" actress, the movie was part of a pitch that an unnamed director made for Warner Bros. to try and sell them on a film franchise relaunch.
"Okay, so... Mortal Kombat. It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film," Ryan wrote on her Twitter account. "I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful...! ;-)"

seriously ? there were two of them?
Yeah, man. Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
I liked the first one. It was good for what it was. Christopher Lambert was great as Rayden, Robin Shou was good as Liu Kang, and Scorpion and Sub-Zero were depicted well. All in all, the first MK film really was pretty decent for a video game-based movie.
The second one sucked, though. It just did. It was pathetic.

It was better than Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros but that's AS FAR as I'm willing to go. Never even saw the 2nd one.
The best thing about the first one was the song.
Good VG-based Films
Mortal Kombat
Resident Evil
Prince of Persia
Silent Hill
Shitty VG-based Films
Too many to name, but the list includes the Resident Evil sequels, MK II, Street Fighter, Doom, Hitman, and everything by Uwe Boll.
LOL sadly I've seen everything on that list but MK2 and Prince of Persia (yet). Doom was just godawful. Hitman was not terrible, but still pretty bad. Did you ever see Super Mario Bros? What an abomination.
Silent Hill was great. That movie scared the shit out of me just like the video game. Resident Evil was great simply because Milla Jojovich is megahot. I thought the first sequel was decent too but only because zombie movies rule. Plus Mike Epps is awesome.
Triple-six killers in this motherfucker runnin shit
I haven't really seen a video game movie I would call "good". Although some have managed to be mildly enjoyable popcorn flicks. FF: Advent Children had some decent fight scenes.
Did anyone ever watch the Mortal Kombat TV series? It was grade-D in every way, but it had one of the most bizarre endings I've ever seen in a TV show.
