I just listened to the Truth by Bizkit and yeah that sounded quite a bit like an old RATM song, with Durst doing his best Zach de la Rocha impression. Not too bad though.

Yeah, it's an un-Limp Bizkit Limp Bizkit album. The whole thing is a lot rawer and just different from their other stuff.

I'm looking forward to hearing Gold Cobra.

Dude, Marty Friendman hasn't been with Megadeth for a decade now. Besides, it's a known fact that Dave has always written 95% of the music. That's why there are literally like 15 ex-members of the band and they still always sound like Megadeth (though the sound has evolved significantly).

As far as TSO, they aren't even really a band. It's just a revolving door of studio musicians playing tired old shit. They have a few interesting songs but that's about it. I thought the 2nd half of their show was ok but the first half was a fucking christmas pageant and I wanted to leave. It probably didn't help that it was like early November and 90 degrees outside.

Well first off, I genuinely get into the Christmas season, so that explains a lot. Some of my most pleasant childhood memories revolve around Christmas so I unabashedly listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies, and the whole shebang when December rolls around.

Now, you're right, TSO isn't really a band, they're more of a super-group. But the core members (like Al Pitrelli) are always the same and the writers--the true creative talent--also obviously carry over from album to album.

Besides, you know not all their albums are Christmas related, right? Here's a cool track off their new, non-holiday album. Not everything has to be like Cannibal Corpse.

I doubt he wrote a single one of them. Dave has nowhere near the chops of Marty. Marty Friedman held his own with Jason fucking Becker in Cacophony, probably the greatest guitarist of all time. And that was BEFORE Megadeth.

By the way zY is right, for the majority of Friedmans tenure in Megadeth he did most if not all the Solo work for the band. He's said as much in many interviews.
