This is exactly how I feel, too. Where the hell did the last 10 years go? The other day I was hanging out with some grad students and the topic of conversation turned to 9-11. When they mentioned they were in middle school when it happened, I was just like, "Oh man, you're fucking kidding me, right?"

9/11 is another thing that makes me realize that I skipped a decade. That was 9 years ago. I was in law school and I lived with my wife. I actually remember it at least as well as I remember what happened 6 months ago. 10 years. What the hell.

Agreed. I can't really recall any others though. As a kid in 3rd grade I remember Challenger blowing up and my teacher crying.

Yeah, I think that's the only other one for me, too. I don't know if younger people have similar memories about the Columbia, but I kind of doubt it. The hype about the space program was totally different in the '80s.

It's a damn shame, too. I actually envy the people who got to grow up when the space program was really going off, especially back during the cold war.

I love everything about space exploration, but we need to get out of this low earth orbit bullshit that we've been focusing on for a decade and get men to Mars. It's fucking bullshit that we went to the moon '69 and haven't done shit since, except for the ISS.
