"After the fight Quinton Jackson came up to me and said ‘No, you won the fight’, I thanked him and told him he’s a great champion too, even more for acknowledging that [I won], it’s not easy to do that, but he added ‘Don’t you worry about that, you won the fight, and I’ll give you a rematch because I know I didn’t deserve this win’."
"I think the journey continues, it’s not a defeat nor an obstacle that is going to get in the way of our dream, my dream continues, the journey continues. We have to take advantage of this opportunity to improve even more".
-Machida
Josuel Distak, one of Anderson Silva’s trainers, invites Lyoto Machida to train at X-Gym and says he’s not motivated enough:
"I did not like the scoring for the fight, but it’s important to point out that Lyoto is not training the right way, he’s lacking motivation in his training routine. If he was motivated, he wouldn’t have waited so long to do what he did in the third round"…"If Lyoto came to train with me and Rogerão here at X-Gym and loses, he doesn’t need to pay [us]."
I find it amazing ZY had this GIF up an hour after the fights and 3 days later the media is just now running stories on it
They probably had to let the story develop first.
Running a story like that immediately would be fine for a blog, but not for a news article. You have to contact appropriate sources and do your research first.
"I think my jab threw him off ... and I think him not attacking me threw me off. When he came in – nothing against him because he came in hard – we clashed heads. His forehead hit my temple. ... We tied up in a Muay Thai clinch, and he hit me with like a 'Mortal Kombat' combo. Overall, it was just a tough fight. But I know it could have been 10 times more exciting. There was a whole lot of over-thinking."
Yeah but not even shameless rags like middleeasy or bloody elbow had it until today.
Out of curiosity, what do you think are the best MMA news sites? And who do you think is the best of the best?
Well for straight up news, the big three are MMAJunkie, Sherdog, and MMAWeekly. Junkie is probably the best as far as timeliness and they're always reliable (plus they have an iphone app). They don't put up much opinion stuff though and when they do it's generally inane (like that hack Dr. Benjamin). Sherdog is better for features and the like. Other than that I just follow certain writers. For instance, I like to read Josh Gross' stuff. Oh and Kid Nate's Judo Chops are good, like scientist said. His other articles are stupid though.
