Never Back Down 2 Observation #2:

There's a college-aged blonde headed bitch who says (while watching a fight on her computer): "MMA is what boxing WISHES it could be. Ground n' pound, baby. These guys could have me any day of the week."

That actually happened about 20 minutes from where I live. Shit was huge news in Cheshire. I heard the guy has since sold the house and moved out of state. They hold a memorial all over town each year that week by lighting candles inside sand filled bags and line the sidewalks with them.

Scientist, don't even watch this film. You will hate it. It includes the line, "Okay, rubber guard basics. First, go to mission control."

Eddie Bravo even makes an appearance near the end of the film as a DJ . . . DJ Bravo.

BTW, I was really hoping there would be a discussion in the film on the intricacies of Crackhead Control. Alas, it was not to be.

I saw season 1 and thought it was really good. But there was kind of an obvious stopping point there, and I never got around to seeing the rest of it.

As if that is the only reason I need to not watch that cheese (not calling it a film). I never saw the first one, because I have self respect. I would rather gouge my eyes out than watch part deux.

                      You're a fool, Scientist. A damn fool!

In any case, I thought both movies were entertaining enough, as long as you realize what you're going into and are okay with a pure popcorn flick. I mean, the first one was basically The Karate Kid for a new generation.

Also, the depictions of MMA are actually pretty accurate. And the second was directed by--and stars--Michael Jai White, who is always cool.

Given the other movies out there that I haven't watched, I cannot envision a world where I spend 2 hours watching that crap. Here are a list of things I would rather do than watch that movie:

                        -(aforementioned) gouge out eyeballs
-fondle myself for 2 hours while trying to revive the erection I lost due to dehydration
                        -watch poopoo lift stuff up
-watch zak's daughter's and his son's football videos
-watch luke's kickboxing- oh wait, that's right, he still never posted it.
-read luke's hilarious joke where he asks for a stream, it never gets old.
-shove hot poker in my ass in attempt to revive dehydration flaccidity
-smash my testicles in the automatic door of my new minivan
-punch self in face for having minivan

If I spend 2 hours on all of those things, and I watch every movie ever made, every single person on the planet is dead, and every source of media has been destroyed, and the only things left on the planet are me, a bluray player, and a disc of "Never Surrender 2".... I still would not watch it, I would disassemble the blu-ray player and make a windchime out of the parts and the disc. That is how much I will never watch that movie.

                          I see.

A humorous post. And I agree that you should punch yourself in the face for having a mini-van.

On a serious note, though, considering that there are only like 5 decently-budgeted MMA movies in existence, do you not feel compelled to see it solely due to curiosity? I mean, I almost feel like by watching it I'm supporting the sport.

I've seen Redbelt, NDB 1 and 2 and Warrior. The only one I haven't watched yet (mostly because I forgot about it until right now) is Fighting.

I see it the opposite, I am supporting someone trying to cash in and rape the sport I love. I saw Redbelt because Mamet is a legit writer and I know that he is a true fan of bjj. It was so disappointing. These guys trying to do the MTV version of MMA are just hacks trying to cash in. Warrior looks like the first legit movie to take MMA seriously. I might see that eventually. But it doesn't look particularly good to me, so no rush.

Fighting had absolutely nothing to do with MMA. It's about a street vendor who sells bootleg merchandise and how he gets wrapped up in the world of no holds barred STREET fighting for a quick buck. At no point is there anything even remotely to do with MMA aside from the fact that he was a highschool wrestler under his father.
