The Karate Kid had a lot of "heart." It was pretty good.

I actually watched them all recently.

    1 was still good.

2 was better than I remembered it and I think I liked it more than when I saw it as a kid.

3 had not held up well, even though I loved it as a kid. Also, Macchio was, for some reason, a bigger pussy than ever in that one, even though he had already kicked Johnny's ass and kicked that Japanese dude's ass in a fight to the death. Not sure how that works, but okay.

As for non-comedy/non-Rocky boxing movies, you forgot about Million Dollar Baby and The Fighter.
Million Dollar Baby is the BEST boxing movie of all time. It is one of the 10 best movies of all time. I cried like a little girl at the end of that film.

I agree that it's okay. But do think that MMA movies in general haven't gotten enough discussion around here, and we haven't had enough discussion around here in general lately, so I appreciate the dialogue.

I will also say that I think people are too often willing to hate movies, like hating something makes them hip or fashionable. Or they have to put everything in either the love it or hate it categories . . . nothing in between.

I feel about NBD about how I feel about The Three Musketeers, which I saw this past weekend. That is, it has its flaws, but it was still a fun ride if you go into it with the right expectations.

I agree that it was a fun movie. I liked it. Tried to convince Luke to go see it with his nephew, but he was adamantly against it.

Was thinking of taking my daughter to see Three Musketeers. She wants to see it. I know the critics seems to hate it. But there are times I like what they hate and vice versa.

Dude, the crowd I saw it with loved it. They were clapping and cheering during it.

I agree that it was a very good film. I don't think I'd put it in my top 10, but it was very good. Eastwood rarely disappoints, though. He's such a good director, even though he's like 112.

Yea, he is top notch. Recently watched Hereafter, which he directed. Even enjoyed that film even though it is not one of his better films.

And hell yea he is old.

I would say ignore the critics on this one. I think they're largely pissed off because it wasn't screened for critics and they probably had to pay for tickets.

The writing is sometimes clunky and the dialogue is sometimes painful and the action is often ridiculously unbelievable, but the cinematography is great, the casting and acting are (mostly) excellent, and it is just a lot of fun.

I feared it would be pretty shitty, but walked out pleasantly surprised. I think Real Steel is to Rocky as NBD is to The Karate Kid, that is, not as good of a film, but the same formula competently followed. The CGI robots looked really good, too.

I LOVED Hereafter. It's actually the only Eastwood movie that I have bought yet on Blu-Ray. There was just something about it that really pulled me in and, even though it was fairly slowly paced, held my interest the whole way through.
