He just didn't put up very much offense. He let Roy press him on the cage quite a bit in the first round. I don't know how many of those knees actually landed, but that was really his only output in the fight. He got a few takedowns, but he didn't pass and when Roy gave his back, he didn't go for the finish. Mir also gassed IMO, just not as bad as Roy.

Basically, I just hate Mir and I don't want to give him any credit.

Nelson's takedowns suck. I was impressed with mir's takedowns tho. He found success in dropping to his knees and tying both of nelsons legs up. Way more effective than his lame single leg attempts. Nelson looked off tonight tho. He usually doesn't gas. Maybe he wasnt completely healed from his knee surgery.

Maybe some of both. Nelson is in the big leagues now. He actually holds 0 wins over top fighters. That's right. He has never beaten anyone that could be considered a top fighter in the heavyweight division.

    That was also in 2003.

Story beat Ellenberger in 2008, which still has some relevance to today IMO.

I any event, I would probably pick Fitch to win a decision over Story as well... I was just saying, he is extremely Fitchy in his gameplans in the last 2 fights.
Obviously 2003 is a lot farther back than 2008, but that's still a good bit of time, especially when talking about these young guys who are still improving at a rapid rate.

Besides, I never saw the fight. For all I know the judges fucked up.

I wouldnt mind those two match ups . Shields has been calling out Penn so he might end up fighting him

    Fitch would probably win.

But I didn't necessarily think it was a ridiculous notion to say that Ellenberger would beat Story.

Hendricks/Ellenberger and Story/Fitch is what I would like to see. Or maybe Shields in there too. We got to weed out some of these guys. They are basically interchangeable. Fitch did get him down more, but Alves had had two fights with Fitch to prep him for Story's tactics. I think it would be a close fight and boring as hell.

    That really is pretty interesting.

We almost lost on MacDonald, though.
