Didn't watch SF. Bellator was pretty much as expected, no big surprises there. I regret changing my mind on Sandro obviously. Just looking forward to the end of this big event drought.

Well it's over this weekend. There's some shit every weekend, or every other weekend, for the next two months.
You missed a decent Challengers card, though. I was vindicated for saying that Kaufman would soundly beat Carmouche. Unfortunately Bowling had to go fuck my night up after that.I heart cockComment

I don't know who Kaufman or Carmouche are... I know they are female MMA fighters, but I could not pick them out of a lineup. Bowling and Voelker did not interest me much. I just could not seem to care about any fight on that SF card. I am sure there were some good scraps, I just didn't care about them.
On a side note, work sucks right now, and I may be moving out of town. Basically, I have not had much time to keep up with stuff.2012: +19.33

The talent is not there in women's MMA, and I don't think it will last. It is like watching shuffleboard or something, the best are the best only because there is no one else playing. No one cares about these chick figters, and I think it will die off soon.
Work sucks because I am busier than I like to be. I might be moving because I have an offer in another town, just considering if I want to move my family.2012: +19.33

I don't think women's MMA is to the level of men's obviously, but you can't say there is no talent there. Cyborg is a fucking beast with good MT, Kaufman is a strong wrestler with very good boxing, Coenen and Megumi Fujii is a very slick submission artist, Frausto is a pretty good (but not great) kickboxer, Tate is a solid wrestler. . .
I think it's more of a GSP/welterweight situation. The best female fighters are just so far ahead of everyone else that at the top levels it just ends up being the same girls fighting each other over and over, or it ends up being the champ fighting someone who is woefully undermatched.
Also, I'm not sure why it would die out. There are obviously girls out there who want to do it. Without Zuffa support it will obviously be less visible, but there will always be opportunities for women who want to fight.
Well good luck.Last edited by SPX; 07-26-2011, 12:01 PM.I heart cockComment

Skill has no correlation to excitement. It is fine, I am sure it is entertaining, but I don't like the idea of these broads taking up valuable card space from actual fighters. It would be like if you sat down to watch some NBA and they made you watch a quarter of WBNA right in the middle of it. Except it would be worse, because there are only so many fighters they can squeeze on a televised card.
It just doesn't have the depth of talent I expect to see in a real sport. In some sports that women actually play, I have no problem watching the chicks. Tennis, soccer, volleyball... stuff where there are more than 10 females in the entire world participating. I think you could pluck a random woman off the street and turn her into a top 10 fighter in any weight class in a year if you made her train regularly. Basically, if you are willing to participate, you are top 10.2012: +19.33

I honestly think this is a gay attitude. These women train hard, learn the skills, and use them just like the men do. How can you say any of the fighters I listed are not actual fighters? Oh, wait. . . You can't. . . Because you haven't even paid enough attention to know who they are.
There are far more than 10 fighters in every division . . . it's just that, like I said, the top fighters in every division are so far ahead of everyone else.I heart cockComment

A lot of people train hard just like the pros. I trained my ass off to play football when I was in high school, much harder than the guys I played with they are now pros. But I was just not good enough... pro sports are not about giving fair time to all people that deserve it. I am sure they train hard (3 weeks out of the month anyway), but they still suck as a group. They may be actual fighters in the sense that they are allowed to fight in the cage, and maybe their fights are exciting, but it is just a different animal. It is a very small group at a much lower level, glomming onto a more successful product, they are just free-riding on the men's card. The only fighters anyone cares to see are Gina and Cyborg, and I really don't think many people actually care who wins, it is just spectacle of watching a man fight a woman.I honestly think this is a gay attitude.
