I have seen some of his fights. I saw the Sandro fight after it happened.

He is pretty decent, but I think Roop might be able to force a standup fight, where it is probably close.

Another UFC card where I have no idea what the F to do. I like Penn, but something about the way he is acting to the lead up of the fight has me nervous. I kinda like Cro Cop, but he is F'n Cro Cop. I liked Mitrione, but something tells me Kongo might hold his ass against the cage for half the fight and get a couple of takedowns for a 29-28 win.

I agree that it's a shitty event for betting with a lot of hard fights to cap. The only fight I'm reasonably confident in is Jorgensen/Curran, but I imagine the line will reflect the reality, and I would not be 100% shocked to see Curran find a way to win.

Penn always makes me nervous. But I finally just said to hell with it, he is fighting Diaz. If Penn wants to win, he should win. If he gets drawn into a boxing match, I could see Diaz outpointing him, but I think BJ is a better boxer with a better chin too. He gets to decide whether to stand or not. The only issue is that it is all but guaranteed that he will lose round 3. I have a feeling that we are going to be seeing Diaz at +200 in most of his UFC fights, I am looking at this as the only chance to bet against him while he is still overvalued. I don't think he would beat many of the top 6 or 7 WW's in the UFC.

Where would you put Penn in the WW rankings right now?

Top 5. Honestly, I don't think anyone but GSP would beat him consistently. But he needs a couple more fights at WW, before I am willing to say #2. But really, I have him #2.

Since when did roops striking all of a sudden become so great. This guy got blitzed by hominick. Meanwhile, hioki more than held his own standing with sandro and won a decision against hominick in a fight where im sure there were prolonged periods of striking. I dont know. I think roop is pretty bad and all of a sudden he is expected to beat the number 2 or 3 featherweight.

You see, I just don't know. I really wish he would climb the ladder a little at WW. I know he was the champ, but that was years ago. I could see so many guys giving him problems--Kos, Ellenberger, maybe Story, maybe even AJ. I think that when he won the title, size was less of a factor and the overall skill level at WW was just a lot lower.

So I guess BJ's gas tank + 167 lb walkaround weight just leads to a lot of questions for me and I'll have to see him fight a few more times before I can make any judgments on where he stands.

BTW, you say you have him at #2 . . . did you think he beat Fitch?

I think that beating Garcia, KTFOing Zombie and, more importantly, dominating the former #1 contender in Grispi caused his stock to rise, and rightfully so. I mean, what are we supposed to base our opinions on other than performance?

And yes, he got blitzed by Hominick, but Hominick happens to be pretty good.

Just wondering...how do you see Curran beating Jorgensen. I know it is unlikely but I think his only way is to get one of those "fluke finishes". There really isn't shit on this card to bet. I do believe each underdog that has a line listed at the moment is live.

Something like this, maybe you never really get over it. Maybe you're not supposed to. You wake up in the middle of the night to find two men with guns in your house -- men who obviously arrived...

Good read about Vera. Sounds like he really has a fire lit under his ass.

I'd say just by being the best Curran he can be. He arguably beat Mizugaki, who, after recovering from getting his bell rung, did well against Jorgensen (all three SD judges gave him the third round). And I know that Curran has put everything on hold to train for this fight.

I certainly don't think he will win. But if Jorgensen is taking the night off and Curran is in the zone, I could see him pulling off the upset.
